SND Keobi government seizes large shipment of cocaine, federation looking to collectively deal with drug crimeA large shipment of cocaine intercepted in the port of Bahrar, SND KeobiEnimoto-Si: Authorities of Southeast North Dovani (SND Keobi) have intercepted a large shipment of cocaine in the recently reconstructed port of Bahrar. The shipment, consisting of over 4,200 kilograms of cocaine, was intercepted earlier this week as one of the first anti drug operations of any of the Federations regional territories. Since the civil war North Dovani has been struggling to rebuild and lick its ethnic wounds. The conflict, which killed over 2 million and displaced millions more, raged for over 10 years and caused the country to be devastated both economically and culturally. Major cities had been destroyed to ruins and rural communities saw the face of war for the first time in centuries. The new government, which consists of a federation with 3 states in it belonging to the different ethnic groups, has since been trying to rebuild. The regions have done so seperately, only working together on one project to rebuild the national railways and several highways. Defense wise the new Federal Defense Force or FDF has deliberately been lacking in funding, only consisting of 10.000 men, poorly trained and equipped, and having no airforce or navy.
But another problem caused by the war showed its face after, drug addiction. The war caused many soldiers of all sides to use drugs in an attempt to stay active and alert. These drugs were then used by their families and major communities accross the country as the horrors of war continued. But once you get hooked, its hard to stop, that is what is currently happening in large parts of North Dovani. Remaining ethnic fighting groups, who refused to surrender following the peace deal, vouched to continue their struggle against the new governments and create a fully independent state for their Kyo and Huhoa groups. The main insurgency forces on the Kyo side are currently the Kyo Free Front, a extreme right militia. On the Huhoa side it is the "People's Democratic Forces", a communist force fighting for full huhoa independence The Keobi militia's all surrendered after the peace deal. The ethnic governments and federal government have failed to sufficiently supress these groups, which opened up the opportunity for them to gain influence mostly within rural communities. This has also caused these groups to use the current narcotics pandemic in North Dovani for their own financial benefit to fund their organizations, only worsening the crisis. The Kyo Free Front alone is estimated to own over 30% of the drugs market, being one of the main reasons for the large quantities of drugs entering the country.
The SND Keobi government has now contacted both the FND Kyo and SND Huhoa governments and has started talks on the federal level to add yet another project to the list of federal cooperation. The three governments are now looking to form a special federal narcotics division, tasked with tracking and intercepting narcotics entering the country but also work with the Federal Defense Force to combat the KFF and PDF. In addition the talks include possible increased funds for the FDF, which is to weak to currently combat both fighting groups. Possibly asking help from Kazulia is not ruled out as the federal government has stated it needs help in properly organizing and training both the FDF and the new to be created narcotics force.
