Chinasa: A new order is in power in North Dovani and in its first ever election the ruling Liberals have been ousted out of power and the conservative CDP has won a outright majority in the House of Councillors. Following the crisis that was brought about by the former monarch Numair leaving to return to his Minese homeland a political crisis had engulfed North Dovani and resulted in a quick process to solve a now vital political subject, how to solve the dissapearance of your head of state? It has resulted in a new republican government taking the helm after the three regions and federal government have come to a agreement which creates the federal "Union of North Dovani". Suprising of all is that the Regions have agreed to a deal in which the objective is also partially to "de-ethnicize" the political system of North Dovani, abolishing the three ethnic regions and instead giving the previous powerless 22 provinces the power that the regions used to have, allowing a system based on geographic makeup rather then ethnicity. The head of state, the main problem that caused the crisis, will be a ceremonial President of the Union elected by the lower house every 6 years, renewable once. This new position will have far less power then the monarch used to have, only representing the nation in international affairs and as its symbol of unity, presiding over the senate with much powers delegated to one of the senators, appointing the PM upon the recommendation of the lower house and attending official state ceremonies. The real power will reside in the Prime Minister, who will be head of government and chair the cabinet, appoint all cabinet offices, appoint high court judges, appoint vacant senate seats, head the armed forces and can call an election by requesting the President to dissolve the House of Councillors, which the president is then law bound to do. The power of the House of Councillors remains largely the same but the election method of the upper house, to be renamed the Senate, will be changed with all 22 provinces appointing 5 senate seats regardless of population after each election in the respective province. Senate power will remain largely the same with the only change being that the House of Councillors can overwrite Senate veto's with a 2/3rd majority.

One month after the new constitution was adopted election were held which resulted in a loss for the Liberal-Democratic coalition and the complete dissapearance of the Worker's Party from politics. The Worker's Party, upon the return of a republican form of government, disbanded itself opting to only stay active in local politics through its affiliates. The CDP, the official oppossition party, won a majority in the House of Councillors and its leader Munachiso Chinelo will become Prime Minister, ensuring a CDP majority government. In the Senate the CDP will not have a majority, instead having to rely on the Independent Senate Group and The Democrats for support. The ISG is a senate group formed by independent senators, which are mostly senators from provinces without either three parties in power. The Democrats captured over 30 senate seats and have stated despite their previous coalition with the Liberals that they are willing to work with the CDP on a "case by case basis". The balance of power now created has ensured markets as well, with the stock market shooting up largely because the CDP does not have sole rule and must compromise in the senate to pass major legislation, with markets liking a moderate platform more then a descive one. PM Elect Chinelo has promised to "work on enacting a comprehensive economic package in the first 100 days of my government and to bring to justice the farce monarch Numair, ensuring that our people's funds come back to the people."

Chinasa: The senate has voted 80 to 70 in favour of adopting the CDP government its signature economic package which is set to become the largest federal economic initiative in a decade. With a economy that is still sluggish and previous governments having failed to do anything about it the new conservative government of Prime Minister Chinelo had promised to make it one of their main focusses. This promise has now let to the Economic Repair and Investment Act or ERIA. The act, comprised of hundreds of small reforms, deregulations, clarifications in the taxcode and investments would give provinces and federal agencies the clarity, tools and tricks to make the economy work according to the State Secretary of Economic Affairs. Major changes include significant deregulations for small to medium sized bussinesses, slashing bureaucracy where the government can do with less, cutting taxes for mid to lower incomes and making available a multi billion subsidy fund that can be tapped into by both provincial governments and bussinesses under certain conditions with the fund meant to significantly aid in growing the economy in individual provinces and communities. Furthermore the reforms will delegate more tasks to provincial governments, with the federal government to completely take their hands of labour and tax regulations, allowing provincial governments to put in place restrictions and regulations instead. The federal government will still impose federal taxes on citizens but will no longer issue regulations on how local government can tax them.

In total the entire package is set to cost the federal government nearly 20 billion and is expected to singnificantly lower the governments stake in the national economy, moving more in favour of a full free market economy. One notable exception remains the energy and resource sectors, which will not undergo changes and instead continue to be state owned.

Chinasa: 1 year before federal elections are to be held the CDP government has managed to carry a final constitutional ammendment through the Senate which increases powers of the President and makes it a elected office, thus de-facto creating a semi-presidential system of government. The ammendment specifically changes the method of appointment for the Prime Minister, removes some of the Prime Minister's powers and increases the powers of the President. It also changes the method of election for the President to a one-round, FPTP popular vote election every 4 years, making the office a elected one rather then a appointed one. It was a long held ambition of the CDP to increase the powers of the executive, even during the monarchical period that only lasted some years. Now that ambition has been made into reality as the CDP, backed by a comfortable House majority, has managed to pass yet another piece of landmark legislation. Two years ago they passed a major economic package which is bearing fruit as the North Dovanian economy is picking up steam once more and showing signs of strong recovery after a decade of negative growth and stagnation. With this latest change, the CDP hopes to ensure that power is distributed more and at the same time the executive remains descisive.

The ammendment removes the powers of the Prime Minister to appoint High Court judges, to call an early election, to head the Armed Forces and to set out foreign policy directives, moving all these powers to the presidency. Additionally the President will have the "powers of appointment" allowing him to choose a Prime Minister without the need for a confidence vote in the House, appoint High Court judges, appoint nearly all top level government employees and appoint the Union Command Staff. Furthermore the President will be able to dissolve the House at any point for any reason, appoints or dismisses diplomats and handles consulates, embassies and other diplomatic missions, and is fully in charge of foreign and security policy. The Prime Minister retains the right to appoint Cabinet members, to set out domestic policy guidelines, still acts as head of government and serves as Chairman of the Cabinet. The Prime Minister may also not be removed by the President once appointed until his/her 4 year term runs out or a early election has been held. This thus creates a balance of power in which the duties of government are divided between the President and PM, allowing the President to wield more power if a PM is from the same party and less power when a PM comes from the oppossition. As the House retains its right to dismiss a government, it means that a PM can be dismissed if he or she holds no majority in the House, thus forcing the President to appoint someone that holds a majority in the lower chamber.

The CDP congress, ahead of next years first election under this new system, has furthermore passed several resolutions which seeks to reform the party and move further to the center-right. One such changes is the name change into the New Democratic Party. As the same suggests however, the CDP will merge with The Democrats to form this new party, which will retain (a somewhat lighter) blue color to be used in elections. While The Democrats had been in coalition with the Liberals before they had slowly crumbling influence, resulting in them looking to either dissolve or merge. As the Liberals did not look for a merge and move even further to the center the CDP saw its chance, proposing to merge into the New Democratic Party. Alongside the name change comes a newly adopted party platform which puts the party firmly on the center-right, becoming more center on social issues while advocating for low regulations, low taxes, a smaller federal government and strong security apparatus. This thus means that as things stand only two parties will compete in next years elections, the Liberals and the New Democratic Party. Current Prime Minister and Democratic leader Chinelo has already announced that he will seek the presidency next year, with the Liberals to choose their own candidate within the next few months.

Chinasa: The New Democratic Party has won a second term in power as their leader, Prime Minister Munachiso Chinelo, has won the presidency and the party itself has expanded its majority in the House of Councillors. The result thus ensures that at least the executive will remain in NDP hands and they will be able to continue policies previously set in motion by the conservative government. While the NDP thus did well once more one notable result is that Chinelo, considered a popular leader, only won the presidential election by 1%, narrowly defeating Cho Sang-Ho of the Liberals and independent candidate and former head of government Yusuf Nasir who won 47% and 5% respectively. Sang-Ho, a former TV personality, had won the Liberal party leadership election with 75% of the vote and pushed himself as a outside candidate with a centrist platform. Chinelo meanwhile stood by his party its new manifesto, which was considered more conservative and center-right. This result has solidified Sang-Ho his position as party leader, with the Liberals already announcing he will stay on as party leader. The NDP expanded the former CDP majority by 8 seats in the house and has nominated Saidi Gambo for the position of speaker, ensuring that the party maintains a hold in the lower house.

President-elect Chinelo has issued a statement thanking his voters for the victory and announcing that former Provincial deputy P'yong Il-Song will be appointed Prime Minister and form his government for him. Il-Song had been a provincial deputy for 2 years prior to his appointment and is considered a technocrat, being appointed likely because of his experience in the field of economics, allowing the government to continue their objective of creating a highly developing, high growth economy. The new Cabinet with all its ministers is expected to take office next week after Prime Minister Il-Song has formalized the appointment of all State Secretaries.

Chinasa: The New Democratic Party has lost the election to the center-left Liberal Party with incumbent president Munachiso Chinelo losing reelection by over 12%. The NDP government was deemed extremely unpopular despite a improving economy. Many voters blamed the Chinelo administration for riding the wave of previous accomplishments and doing little to improvbe other aspects of every day life. Economic reforms passed during the previous term continued to enable the private sector to flourish and saw the North Dovanian economy grow. But many voters didnt see this growth in everyday life, with very little of the bigger economic power generated by that growth coming to the ordinary citizen. Liberal leader Chun Hoon challenged the president and current administration on this record and point of impopularity, causing a surge in the polls. Hoon was furthermore seen as a outsider, previously working as a doctor before entering politics. He campaigned on a platform of renewal and fair distribution of wealth. He argued that the new dual system of government wasnt implemented properly and is causing corruption to haly progress. He is proposing a "refinement" of the system while keeping its main characteristics. He has also openly taken on his own party, calling on it to take a bigger stance on social issues and rebrand itself to become more progressive, trying to oust the mostly centrist members of the party. With his win and the Liberals gaining a majority he might be able to implement his ideas, as the now oppossition NDP has fractured and reformed into the new "Republicans". This new party is still fragile, with many of its new members fighting for control within. If president-elect Hoon wants to push through his most radical ideas, he might find the next few months to be critical to do so.

Chinasa: Under the new Commonwealth system adopted by the Liberal government of Chun Hoon the newly formed People's Socialist party and their presidential candidate Chioke Ogbonna have won a resounding victory. Ogbonna has been elected President of the Commonwealth and his PSP party has won a majority in the new House of Deputies and a plurality of seats in the Commonwealth Senate. The Liberal party, following several scandals and inside sabotage by their own president Chun Hoon, had disbanded shortly before this election. Their members fragmented, with most of its left-wing joining the new People's Socialist Party while its center and liberal wings merged into the new classical liberal Popular Union for People's Democracy. The Chun Hoon government did however pass landmark reform, which saw several changed for North Dovani. The ethnic regions were reintroduced, under the new "Provinces". These would have far reaching autonomy and would get renewed powers to allocate 50 seats eached to the senate through locally organized elections. The 22 lower provinces are abolished, replaced by electoral districts only used in federal elections to streamline the election process. The new three provinces are granted nearly full control over domestic and economic policy with the Federal Government only holding the power to legislate interprovince commerce, security policy, financial monetary policy, labor laws, welfare law, foreign policy and any other authority granted to it by both the Senate and unanimous consent from all 3 provinces. The presidency is further reinforced, gaining the power to sign presidential decrees, disband the House of Deputies for any reason and full powers of appointment. The Prime Minister, until now responsible for domestic policy and being responsible to parliament, will be both appointed and dismissed by the President without a confirmation vote and serves as the vice president, taking over presidential duties when the president is ill, declared incapable, impeached or dead. The Prime Minister still serves as head of government but only serves functions and performs duties delegated to him by the president.

This first election under this strengthened system ensures a win for the new PSP, a party with socialist and left-wing policies that advocates for a social welfare economy, strengthened social programs, greater worker's rights and state intervention. But it is also notable for the fact that it is the first time in 20 years that minor parties are seeing representation. Three minor parties, the Federal Party, Green Bloc and Popular Union for People's Democracy have all captured seats in both House and Senate, largely attributed to the new two-round FPTP election system used in the House which gives smaller parties a slightly bigger chance at winning seats. The Federal Party is a far-right nationalist party, tracing its roots back to the military junta and taking advantage of the new system, which lifts the ban on parties like it. The Green Bloc is also a former party coming back, advocating for environmentalist policies and being progressive compared to the PSP. The PUPD is a split from the Liberals, consisting of most of the actual liberals within the former party as well as centrist voters uniting to opposse the dominant PSP.

President-elect Ogbonna has promised that in his first 100 days in office he will enact term-limit reforms, pass new social welfare legislation and rekindle relationships with outside partners.

Chinasa: The first major promise of the Ogbonna government, Term-limit reform, has failed to pass the senate, serving as a great setback for the new PSP government. The reform, comprised of introducing term-limits on the federal level, would introduce a 3 term limit for members of the House of Deputies (amounting to a total of 12 years served), a 2 term limit for the Presidency (amounting to a total of 8 years served) and a 2 term limit for Senators (amounting to 12 years served). The Republicans, the main oppossition in both House and Senate, had been furiously oppossed to the idea, arguing that it goes against the will of the people. The PSP argued that introducing term-limits is vital for the health of North Dovanian democracy and ensures a long-enduring system. While the PSP had a small majority in the House, allowing the initiative to be passed, it only has a plurality in the Senate. Beforehand the PSP had had countless of meetings with Green Bloc senators, with the Greens 15 seats allowing the law to pass if they would support it. While the PSP was confident about their ability to pass the law they did not know that the greens were also in contact with the Republicans, with the Republicans secretly forging a deal with the greens behind the scenes. This deal would ensure Republican senate support for the introduction of a new pension system, which the greens in the House recently passed with PSP support. The PSP senate group had oppossed the reform however, arguing that it would put in danger the availability of pensions to the wider public. Under this new deal, with Federal and PUPD support already behind the greens, they would still be able to pass the pension reform without PSP support. This deal saw the Greens, together with the Federals and Republicans, vote against the term-limit act. The PUPD supported the measure, but with just 5 seats in the senate the PUPD failed to turn the tide, making the PSP just 8 seats short of a majority.

President Ogbonna issued a statement shortly after the vote failed, ensuring the people that he would continue to work in their best interest and ensure the passing of the rest of his legislative agenda. The first poll following the vote was rellentless however, with a loss of 20% in approval for the president amounting to a narrow 51% approval rating, down from 71%. Asked what the reason for the loss of confidence is many voters point to the failed vote in the senate, seeing term-limits as a major reason for their vote on the PSP and its failure to pass it as a lack of resolve and political will. The first major legislative initiative of the President thus dies through the new political reality.

Chinasa: The Senate has approved a series of administrative reforms that will allow the provinces to pick their own official names and rename the country into the North Dovanian Federation. Among these mostly symbolic changes the reforms will also cut into the bureaucracy, lowering the amount of federal bureaucrats and closing around 40 federal government locations accross the country in an effort to cut costs and work more efficiently. This efficiency will largely be achieved by another aspect of the reform, which seeks to create a new digital network for the federal government that the provincial governments can tap into if they want to. This new database/workplace will allow federal employees to store valuable data and look for any data to help in their work. The reform does not explicitly state that all government operations will move digitally, with President Ogbonna acknowledging that North Dovani is still miles behind other countries when it comes to its digital infrastructure and that physical paperwork will remain the primary method for government employees to conduct official bussiness. Local governments will, once the database is compelted, be able to opt into the system and create their own infrastructure around it, better connecting the federal and local governments with eachother.

The reform also further enhances the presidential powers, allowing the president to draft binding presidential decrees if such a decree spends less then 200 million Kaira and doesnt alter or infringe upon the constitution or established law. Before, such a decree needed a affirmation vote by the House but that is now thus off the table.

Chinasa: The Economic Reform Agenda passed last month through a PSP-Green Bloc deal will give a greater role for the federal government in economic affairs and limit the power of the private sector, says a study conducted by the North Dovanian Economic Platform. The platform, conducting a investigation into the ERA in cooperation with bussinesses and local governments, concluded that the federal government through several new regulatory bodies has gained additional influence in the economic theatre and has limited the power of free bussiness. The ERA introduced over 20 new regulatory bodies, of which its leadership is appointed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. These bodies will, according to this new reform, gain the ability to issue fines, draft new regulatory policy and even drag bussinesses to court if they repeatedly violate government regulations. According to the NDEP this change will have two effects, one negative and one positive. The negative effect is that bussinesses will be more reluctant to take risks, fearing government retaliation, thus decreasing the flexibility of the private sector. A positive change is that the government is able to more effectively guide economic goals and policies, taking more concrete action whenever necessary and being able to quickly adapt policy when neccesary. The ERA reforms also fully nationalize the energy sector, which had until now only been partially nationalized. This nationalization means that the two biggest companies in this sector, Dovanian Liquid and the Northern Oil Company, will both be fully state owned by the end of the year.

The reforms also included significant investments, largely passed through by lower governments. The Federal government has introduced the "Sovereign Development Fund" which is filled with nearly 20 billion a year. Provincial (or other lower governments) can apply for a percentage of the fund by proposing new infrastructural projects that "enhance the economic capabilities of their region." The funds can thus only be used for infrastructure. By delegating this task to lower governments the Ogbonna government hopes to create a flexible field and increase the speed with which infrastructure can be build throughout the country. The Ministry of Finance will grant or deny every request made by lower governments from the fund.

While the ERA will thus have both negative and positive effects it is generally expected to contitute a increase in economic growth and help the further industralization of the North Dovanian economy. Despite its net positive effect it seems the people arent to convinced, with Ogbonna his approval rating remaining low at 42% thanks in large part to the perception that he is unable to achieve all his electoral promises. His closest competitor has in recent months become independent Obey Okorie, a former deputy for the Liberal Party. He is generally considered a moderate, with liberal social stances and a pragmatic view to economics. He has risen in the polls as a possibly strong candidate to challenge Ogbonna in the election in 2 years, with polls showing that Republican, Federal and PUPD voters support his candidacy by big margins. In parliamentary polls the Republicans have surpassed the PSP as well, with many PSP members calling for more of their program to be implemented within this term, fearing a defeat in 5125.
