Chinasa: After 5 days of uncertainty and silence it has become clear that North Dovani once again finds itself in the hands of the military. For days the capital of Chinasa was in dissaray with gunfire heard almost constantly and military personell on the open street. Now, after 5 days, a press release has been issued as gunfire mostly stopped and tanks were rolling down the streets. A young officer by the name of Okechukwu Halim had signed the release, which stated:
As of the 21st of July 5189 at 3:00PM the North Dovanian Commonwealth has been liberated from communist control and put in the hands of the Military Governing Council. All government offices, national and local, are henceforth seized or closed by military authorities and a state of martial law is in effect in North Dovani. The Military Governing Council believes that the past 2 years of leftist governance in which a unlawfull government attempted to centralize power have let to a unbearable situation and required immediate action.
The new military authorities are thus blaming the Emeka government for causing this apparent coup but, as more details are revealed, it seems that the chronic lack of funding and resoruces going to the military had led to the officer corps not being paid for 2 straight months, with many inexperienced new officers not willing to accept the ongoing situation and taking matters into their own hands. The fighting in the capital was between government loyal military forces and the putchist forces with the putchist seemingly winning the encounter. While it is unclear what the new situation will mean for the International obligations of North Dovani or its political situation the entire parliament, both Senate and Congress, have been disbanded by military authorities and the offices of both the SDU and the Progressives being raided and closed.
