Eastern Party Extend Majority as Federalists Fall Apart
Brought to you by the CND Independent
The Eastern Party have furthered their dominance within the CND following an increase of 26 seats in the Federal Elections. Collecting the province of Carmarthen, as well as overtaking the Federalist Party in the Pong-am-ri Province, the pro-Draddwyr party raced away to a strong Assembly majority. Meanwhile, support for the Federalist Party collapsed following infighting over where the direction of the party should be headed following the emergence of the Eastern Party. The Left Party managed to gain a majority for the first time in Mieronjavre, whilst the Social Democratic Party held on to their plurality in Machynlleth, where the capital is located.
The results come following the abandoning of the position of Governor-General by the Eastern Party. Despite the increasing gulf between the two ethnicities within the CND, the greater number of the Draddwyr populace have helped secure the nationalist libertarian party an increase in seats against its rivals. Running on a platform of "fighting Dankukian corruption which has festered within the system," the government took home the full set of the "eastern states" (Pontypridd, Llanberis, Carmathen, and Aberhonddu) as well as winning a majority in Chandaemi. The party also managed to gain a plurality in the Province of Pong-am-ri.
However, the real surprise came, not in the extent of the Eastern Party's victory, but rather in the extent of the Federalist Party's collapse. Following its embarrassing performance in November of 4340, it must have hoped that it could have at least gained back a few of its lost seats from its traditional rivals, the Social Democrats, who won't be particularly happy either. Despite increasing their seat share in the province of Machynlleth, the majority in Mieronjavre for the Left Party sees the more extreme left-wing party in the Assembly gain the position of the Official Opposition.
Perhaps it is not surprising that, following the increase of more extreme right wing politics, that the Left Party would end up jumping ahead of the Federalists and the Social Democrats, as those to the left of the spectrum scramble to try and prevent the Eastern Party from consolidating their views into legislation. Winning a majority in any province for the first time in the party's history, the Left Party ironically most likely have experienced their success as a result of the government's successes this election. Despite this, the new legislature will be the most extreme in the CND's history. And that nearly always never ends well.
