Vicereine Applauds the Third World's Movement Away From Western Powers, Opposition Leaders Decry a Dictatorship

Her Eminence made a statement last week applauding leaders of the Third World for their movements away from Western and First World nations and companies, which she called "the start of a larger movement, a revolution against the status quo by those who wish to see it defeated". She said that in the coming months, Medina would lend a hand to third world nations in of assistance, both economic, politically, and militarily (in dire cases). With Ostland's movement towards development assistance throughout Dovani, Temania, and Vascania, the Secretariat of Management and Planning of the Zahiri Republic has come into greater contact with the leadership of Ostland, calling in the creation of the Secretariat of International and Regional Trade and Development by President Khorosani.

Opposition leader Behjan Mengal Lantah of the Assembly of Ahmadi Clerics (JUA), which is the second-largest party in the Assembly of Advisory has called for the removal of Vicereine Kohli, saying that the nation has turned into a dictatorship and monarchy, slyly asking the members of the Royal Movement (BT) if they're satisfied with developments. Stating the life-term, massive spending, and freely used power to deny laws from her own party and make her own, Assemblyman Lantah has called for a boycott of elections for voters and candidates until she resigns or reforms her position. Where will this end up? We don't know, but there has been whispers from other parties about taking advantage of this.

Constitutional Reforms Begin, Major Changes Planned for Government Structure and Organization

After multiple complaints that the political system of the nation was complicated and over-bureaucratized despite a lack of bureaucracy being the point of the current system, the government has decided to reform the constitution. Multiple changes have been proposed, from adapting the current deliberative democracy strategy to federalism. The final constitution was decided earlier this month, to be applied in January with the first new elections being in June, as all Medinian elections are. An outline of the major changes are listed below:

The Dissolution of the Council of Ministers and the Increased Influence of the Secretariats
With the now increased emphasis on ad hoc-style governance, the Council of Ministers has been dissolved in favour of expanding the use of ad hoc Secretariats for different needs. The current 20 positions (not including the Office of President) have been eliminated, in favour of the variable number of Secretariats that do smaller-scale work when needed.

The Elimination of the Assembly of Advisory for Increased Deliberative Democracy
As the Assembly of Advisory was a body designed to streamline and officiate decisions made by the Assembly of Deliberation, it put too much stress on the system and worked to polarize the political spectrum of Medina. The AoD will take a larger role, as will referendums on bills. The new system will involve any bill debated going to referendum (provided it is approved by the Vicereine) and passing by a simple or constitutional majority depending on the subject matter.

The Use of the Board of Experts to Dictate what is Necessary for the Nation
The Board of Experts, up until now mainly unused, now has a role in determining the legality of bills passed via referendum. Should they be accepted and are deemed against the nation's best interests, they can be vetoed. Should be fail in the referendum but be invaluable to the nation's well-being, the BoE can pass them regardless, but only as a failsafe.

The Reformation of the Committee of Selection as an Impartial Body
Now with 8 members appointed by the President and another 8 by the Vicereine, the CoS serves to choose which proposed bills shall make it to the floor of the Assembly of Deliberation. This is compared to the previous 41 politically appointed members that served as an elite body beforehand.

These reforms shall make Medina a more democratic and free state, although not in the conventional "liberal democratic" sense. Other, smaller reforms will also be occurring, although not as important as these 4 involving the most important bodies of the nation.

Medina Purchases Vast Amounts of Military Equipment, Uses Yingdalan EDO Fund to Upgrade Infrastructure and Economic Development, and Launches Kermani Doctrine

Last month Medinian negotiators struck a deal with Keymonite arms and vehicle manufacturers, as well as Yingdalan and Vascanian government officials to make a purchase worth 121 million LOD. 25 thousand AR-70 rifles, 100 Iveco IMVs, 50 Puma AFVs, and 30 Freccia IFVs were purchased, with 50 Ariete MBTs being gifted. The 25 thousand Ar-70/90s, costing 2,500 LOD a piece, are part of Keymon's shift away from the slightly aged rifle into their new ARX-160, which allowed the Medinian government to get them at a reduced price. The rifles, costing 62,500,000 LOD total, will be fronted by the Vascanian government, in part of an agreement to keep the nations close and allies. The vehicles, costing another 58,500,000 LOD, have been agreed to be paid for by Medina, but with a Yingdalan loan with a 1% interest per year for 25 years.

These purchases will revolutionize Medina's ability to defend itself and export its aid to other nations. The government has announced plans to use the new equipment to assist their fellow Dovani nations, as all they must do is ask. That new idea, known now as the Kermani Doctrine, after the head of the Joint Military Assistance and Aid Secretariat, Sholeh Kermani, is now expected to assist nations across the continent, with invitations being given to larger and more developed nations such as Vascania and Ostland to play a role in the assistance.

The Eastern Development Organization (EDO) has agreed to give funds to Medina to further its infrastructure, which Medinian experts believe would allow for further economic development. The Roadways, Railways, and Natural Resources and Industrial Infrastructure Secretariats have come together to redevelop much of Medina's infrastructure, which was failing in the 99 year dictatorship and has not yet seen major renovations. The government announced that once the infrastructure project was complete, they would move to further advance the economy in areas now developed enough to see heavy industry and then move to advancing the maritime and aviation infrastructure, allowing more imports and exports to come in, which are the basics of the Medinian industrial economy.

Medinian Defence Research and Production Secretariat Teams Up with Trigunians to Make New Baseline Vehicles, While Domestic Firms Create Modern Tank for Medina

Over the last year, Medinian contractors and researchers from the Secretariat of Defence Research and Production have been working in tandem with Trigunia's weapons and vehicles development teams to create a new baseline tank and aircraft for the Republic, as well as domestic . Currently, the army's tank regiments are made up of older Yingdalan models that have certainly seen better days. After the massive military purchase of new equipment from Keymon, 50 new and modern tanks were added, increasing the former number of 74 older Yingdalan Type 59s. The air force's current fleet, consisting of 73 fighters, with 44 delivered from Yingdala and 29 produced in the last 18 years.

The tank that was jointly designed has been designated in Trigunia as the PT-110 or Object 906 and in Medina as the Type 10, with the original prototypes, designed long ago as the PT-76 or Object 740. They have been updated with an 110mm turret, an increase from the originally planned 76mm gun and are capable of aquatic travel at upwards of 28km/h. As plenty of Dovani land is intercrossed with rivers, swamps, and other aquatic barriers, these tanks will be able to traverse the entire continent, quickly and efficiently, with their max land speed of 75km/h and swim speed of 28km/h. The Trigunians also created a series of alternate versions of the tanks, including surface-to-air missile launcher (10B), APC (10C), and 57mm autocannon (10D) variants. Upwards of 70-80 Type 10s have been produced already from the Trigunian manufacturers, and now that production is in Medinian hands another 50-70 are planned to be made, from all 4 variants.

In addition to the PT-110/Type 10, domestic manufacturers and designers have created their own tank: the Type 11, or Al-Khalid. Designed to be an equal to the Ariete tank sent by Keymon, it was in fact largely based off of it via reverse engineering. The Type 11 has a larger cannon than the Type 10, at 125mm instead of 110; a slower maximum speed of 72km/h, although not much slower; and modernized armour and defence systems, including a laser threat system. Although the cost is higher, upwards of 50 are planned to be produced by 4800.

For the air force, the Trigunian-Medinian designers created the Yak-41, or in Medina, the JF-18 VTOL, a Vertical Take-Off and Landing fighter. The reasoning given behind this development is that as Medina moves into a larger position in the world, quick missions involving lesser-developed areas will become more prevalent, especially in Dovani. The aircraft is designed to be able to take off from and land on any flat terrain large enough for it. When landed, it can (in the JF-18C variant) unload its cargo and other carried goods, from weapons to food, and within 15 minutes take off again. The variants have been listed as: JF-18A, a standard version prioritized for air-to-air combat; JF-18B, with a ground attack focus; and the JF-18C, the heaver version, dually prepared for moving cargo in under-wing containers and for heavier operations, capable of both air combat and ground attack missions. 10 have already been made, and upwards of 30-40 more are set to be produced.

To add to the fleet of planes, and increase the level of modernity, the government has purchased 32 new MiG-29M fighters from Trigunia, at a reduced cost. These planes will make up the backbone of the modern aircraft, as they are far more developed than anything on hand currently or seen to be on hand in the near future, at least before 4790. 4790 will be an important year though, as the ground and air forces have announced that it shall be when both branches begin work on modernizing inventory- the army upgrading old Yingdalan tanks to the new Medinian standard, and the air force plans to upgrade the JF-17 and -18s to newer model with technology from the Trigunian MiG-29Ms.

Medina Submits Entry for FOMAT IV, Encourages Other Dovanian Nations to Show Their Culture As Well

Primarily regionally known singer Avi Zirhan has confirmed his participation at FOMAT-III on the behalf of Medina. He'll be performing "Hamaray Liye", meaning "For Us", a track from the hit movie Hafiz Luthori. With the movie racking up billions of LOD, most Medinians can likely sing it by heart. In fact, the Vicereine herself was caught humming the tune before a press conference on the government's official stance on FOMAT.

Historically, Medina has been reluctant to share their culture with the outside, but with Vascania's increased work in international relations culture-wise, the government has decided to open up Medina's doors to introduce the culture of the nation to the world. Expect the world to be humming Hamaray Liye soon—especially after Medina wins this competition and hosts FOMAT V, which would play perfectly into the new plans for cultural openness.
