August 5378 | BREAKING NEWS: President Qeadi dies, People's Council election set for September and new strikes in Medina
Khamandi - President Javad Qaedi was pronounced dead at the Imam Hamid Jan University Medical Center following complications from heart surgery following a heart attack in the early morning hours of 17th August, 5378. According to the Presidential Spokesman, the President was found collapsed in his office following a security briefing in the morning. Prime Minister Tawas Zubairi announced that prior to the President's death he had authorized the elections to be held and would proceed as scheduled in September, 5378 for the People's Council. Sources close to the President had noted that he had wanted to introduce "new political elements" to the People's Council following more pro-Ahmadi elements being spawned in Bazgari society, this includes the allegation that Qeadi loyalist had founded the National Unity Party following push back from other factions in the People's Democratic Party. The other faction, the Sadatist, named after the founder of the People's Democratic Party and the Leader of the Banner Revolution, has remained chiefly in control of at least half of the People's Democratic Party and has clashed internally with the Qaedist over their pro-Ahmadi policies. The post of General-Secretary will remain unfilled until an extraordinary Party Congress can be called, until then the post will remain vacant and Prime Minister Zubairi will serve as acting President and acting General-Secretary due to being number 2 in the party.
The Ministry of the Interior, who is responsible for organizing elections, announced that several parties have registered to compete in the first "true" multi-party election for the People's Council. According to the Ministry of the Interior the People's Democratic Party and their "Revolutionary Front" allies will run as a bloc, the Revolutionary Front includes the Xsampan Communist Party, Communist Party of Bazgaristan (Ruanism) and the Socialist Workers' Party of Bazgaristan. The People's Democratic Party continues to have two competing factions: the Qeadist (who absorbed the Ahmadi Liberation Organization party) and the Sadatist but will ultimately run under 1 ticket. The new bloc, which consists of the more dedicated Qeadist, National Unity Party and the Ahmadi Society of Combatant Clergy, who had experienced a surge in popularity following President Qeadi's patronage.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Zardad Khattak has welcomed the new pro-Ahmadi government in Medina and has announced that they will unequivocally support the "Will of Ahmad". Following this announcement there were a number of reports of explosions in Western Medina aimed at striking anti-Ahmadi and anti-government targets; there have been reports that the Bazgari military has utilized these targets to test their new Ghazi-110 missiles underneath the supervision of the engineers and developers of the Bazgari Military Industrial Organization (BMIO) who has been developing missile technology since February, 5378 and have utilized older missiles as a base. While drone strikes and the allegations of missile strikes have been rampant, there are also reports that the ARGC Helem Force has begun propping up pro-Ahmadi militias in the country, the most notable being the Ahmadi Victory Movement (Zaqrami: احمدی فتح تحریک; Ahmadi Fatah Tehreek), which operates in Western Medina.
