Badaran Government rejects claims made by Haven World Wide.

November 2968

Bier Qassem, Emirate of Kayuratan,

The Badaran Government published a statement concerning claims made by Haven World Wide. In the statement the Minister of Trade and Industry, mr. Hafez al-Karimi, rejects the made claims that HWW owns 49% of all Badaran oil and gas refineries and reserves. Mr. Hafez al-Karimi stated that HWW entered a joined venture with the Petroleum Development Al'Badara as a junior shareholder with 49% of the shares. The PDB-HWW joint venture only controles 2 oil fields, which represent less then 10% of the entire Badaran oil production. The Minister continued by saying that if HWW continues to claim it owns 49% of the Badaran oil and gas refineries and reserves, it would have serious repercussions for the relationship between the United Badaran Emirates and Haven World Wide.

The officials said that the UBF had concrete evidence that government employees had interfered in the voting procedures in several constituencies and had manipulated the votes in favor of the governing coalition. It is also reported that hundreds, if not thousands of voters were turned away from poling stationsall over the country. It is reported that the UBF will call for in investigation by the Electoral Commission into the alleged commited election fraud, but said it had doubts about a fair and independent investigation because of government involvement in the Electoral Commission. Strikes and demonstrations engulf Badara as tensions over election fraud increase.

December 8th, 2988

Bier Qassem, Kayuratan

Just days after the first allegations of electoral fraud, opposition supporters have taken to the streets to demonstrate against the election outcome and the Badaran government. Supporters of the United Badaran Front and several other smaller opposition parties took possession of several important intersections in the cities of Agundi City, Al Buqiyya and Dar al Salam and in the Badaran capitol of Bier Qassem. This lead to major disruptions of traffic and public transportation. For the moment the demonstrations have been peacefull and the police have not intervened, but the atmosphere in the UBE remainse tense.

As thousands take to the street to demonstrate, trade unions affiliated to the United Badaran Front and other opposition parties have called for a 4 day national strike to show their support for the opposition and to allow their members to join the demonstrations. People traveling to and from the United Badaran Emirates should expect serious delays for flight bound to and from Badaran airports.

Badaran Government demands end of protests.

December 9th, 2988

Bier Qassem, Kayuratan

A day after te beginning of a nationwide strike and massive protests in several major Badaran cities, including the capitol of Bier Qassem, mr Joe Nelson, a government spokesman, issued an statement made by the Badaran government. Mr Nelson had the following to say; "We, the legitimate elected government of the United Badaran Emirates, reject all allegations about this so called "election fraud". The people of Badara have spoken clearly and they support the polices of the ruling government and not that of the UBF. The so called evidence are all made up or just plainly false. If the UBF continues to make up evidence about the genuine and fair elections, the government will response.... by force if needed.

Minutes after this statement was broadcasted on national television, unrest spread among the protestors due to rumors spreading that the government might call in the Republican Guard to quell the protests. Many protestors feared that if that would happen, the Republican Guard would end the protest with violence as they had done before.

2989: Beiteynuese Government Condemns Badaran Terrorist Attacks; Asks for Peaceful Solution to Election Fraud Controversy

Twelve people were killed on December 10th in the city of Bier Qassem, Al'Badara at a rally calling for new government elections to take place. In the ensuing riots, 59 people were wounded. The controversy began when members of the United Badaran Front accused the nation's government - headed by a coalition of the Communist Party of Badara and the Green Badarani Party - of election fraud. This spurred public protests, which the Badaran government has demanded to stop, lest the protesters wish to be met with force. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Beiteynu and Yishelem released this statement today regarding the Beiteynuese Government's official stance on the controversy:

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Beiteynu and Yishelem wrote:The Government of the Commonwealth of Beiteynu and Yishelem harshly condemns the terrorist attack on a legally-gathered group of nonviolent protesters that resulted in the death of twelve people. In the ensuing riots, 59 people were wounded. As a long-time friend and ally of the United Badaran Emirates, it pains Beiteynu and Yishelem to see violence return to Badara's once peaceful streets. Although it is not exactly our place, we wish to see peace and freedom in all the nations of Terra, and so we beg the Communist Party of Badara, the Green Badarani Party, and the United Badaran Front to come to a peaceful resolution of the [claimed] election fraud question - to use diplomacy instead of force to solve their disagreements. Remember: in these sorts of political arguments, it is always the People who suffer. We hope we have not been too forward, and good luck to you, the Badaran People, Nation, and Government. Thank you.

Riots spreading like fire in the United Badaran Emirates

December 11th, 2988

Bier Qassem, Emirate of Kayuratan

The funerals of the victims of yesterdays terror attack in Bier Qassem ended in violence as the mourning crowd turned against the police. After yesterdays riots the police were present in large numbers to ensure the funeral processions could continue without incidents. This was not appreciated by the grieving crowd, who, after the dead had been buried, turned against the police. Bier Qassems center turned into a battleground as the angry mob charged at the police and burned down several policestations and police cars. Unable to disperse the angry crowd with the use of non-lethal weapons, desperate police officers had no other choice then to use their guns, first shooting in the air, later on the crowd itself. As a result of this 9 people were killed and several dozens were injured and rushed to hospital. It took the police several houres to disperse the rioting mob, but they finally managed to clear the streets . As a result of todays violence in Bier Qassem, 17 people were killed, among them 4 police officers, and several hundreds of people were injured, including 39 police officers. This was indeed a black day for the country.

Image
Several victims of yesterdays terror attack in Bier Qassem are being burried.

Bier Qassem is not the only city in Badara that is in turmoil because of the alledged electoral fraud by the Badaran government. Several other major cities in Badara were witnesses to heavy rioting by protestors. Agundi City and Ras El-Haram witnessed the second day of rioting and protests in Bab al Mira, Abu Yacub and Dar al Salam ended in violence as well. Political and Security experts believe that if these protests and riots continue and more people get killed, the country might end having a civil war. One expert called the current situation one of the biggest dangers Badara had faced in its existence. Another expert hinted that if the police was unable to end the riots, the Badaran government has no other choice then to call in the Republican Guards, a branch of the Badaran military which is charged with the protection of the Republic.

Tension increase as riots continue.

December 12th, 2988

Bier Qassem, Emirate of Kayuratan

More violence today in the Badaran capitol of Bier Qassem, as anti-government protesters clash with riot-police. Thousands of protesters marched on waiting security forces that fought back with baton charges, tear gas and water cannons as the crisis over disputed elections lurched into volatile new ground. After several houres of fighting, the protesters overwhelmed the police, which fled from the scene. Rioters then turned on government buildings and burned down several police and government buildings. After the smoke settled, almost 100 people lied dead and nearly 600 people were injured, making this one of the deadliest days in Badaran history. Riots are reported all over Badara and the government hasnt been able to surpress the demonstration and riots.

President declares State of Emergency

December 14th, 2988

Bier Qassem, Emirate of Kayuratan

After days of demonstrations and riots, the President of the United Badaran Emirates, mr. Nick Willis, has declared a State of Emergency. In a short statement, read by a close aid of the President, mr. Joe Nelson, the President said; "Due to the recent violence the Government of Badara declares a State of an Emergency. A curfew will be in place between the hours of 8:00 PM till 8:00 AM. All gatherings with more than 3 people are not allowed and banned until the State of an emergency is over.
Further more, The strikes that have been organized by the opposition, are illegal and clearly violate the law of the land. The Badaran government demand that the striking workers go back to work in the next 24 hours or the government will force them. For the protester that are blocking and disrupting traffic in the cites, all of them will be arrested for 1. Holding protests without a permit 2. Disrupting peace 3. For causing damage to the economy. They will be arrested and then all of them will be tried on court.
Also because of the recent incidents the Republican Guard will start patrolling the streets for lawbreakers. The Party paramilitary of the Communist Party (The Red Guard) will also start patrolling the streets. The military alert will rise from code GREEN to code YELLOW as accorded in the National Emergency Readiness Act.
Again the Badaran government denies the claims by the opposition on the so call election fraud.

As soon as the statement was released, the Repubican Guards moved out of their barracks and took controle of strategic sites in Badaran cities. They immediatly began to crack down on the protesters and started clearing the streets. When protesters did not comply with the orders givin to clear the streets, the rRepublican Guard began clearing the streets with force. After several houres of skirmishes between the Republican Guard and anti-government protesters, the streets were filled with blood. The battles left hundreds lying death on the streets of the Badaran cities, but the protests had ended, at least for today. Only Allah knows what tommorow will bring.

International pressure mounts on the Badaran Government as deathtoll continues to rise in the United Badaran Emirates

December 19th, 2988

Bier Qassem, Emirate of Kayuratan

Five days after declaring a state of emergency, the Badaran government has still been unable to end violence between pro-government supporters and opposition demonstrators. After nine days of heavy riots and the deployement of the Republican Guard, clashes between security forces and pro-government activist on one side and opposition demonstators on the other, have marked yet another day of bloodshed in several cities in Badara. Domestic and international pressure on the Badaran government to stop the violence keeps mounting as they have not yet been able to end the riots. Domestically the Badaran Islamic Council, the highest Islamic autority in the UBE, has called an both sides to stop the violence, saying that brothers must not fight eachother, but seek a peacefull solution for the problem. International pressure on the Badaran government to end the violence continues to rise as several foreign govenments have called on the Badaran government to seek a peacefull solution for the current crisis and to refrain from using violence against its own citizens.

Earlier today a car bomb detonated outside the Ministry of Internal Affairs, claiming 29 lives and wounding 150 others. The building was completely destroyed and several building nearby were seriously damaged. Police have sealed of the area and rescue workers are doing their best to safe people trapped in the rubble. It is yet unknown who is responcible for the attack, but the police and intelligence services suspect that this attack is connected to the increased tensions in the country because of the violence that erupted over alleged electoral fraud by the Badaran government. The total number of casualties that have fallen since the beginning of the unrest are, including todays casualties, more then 350 people killed and more then 2000 people wounded.
