BIER QASSEM COURIER BEACON
SHIPYARD JOINT VENTURE IN RAS EL-HARAM
Ras el- Haram, July 21, 4835: A number of members of the Kerbogha Family have long wanted to get into the shipbuilding business. The Kerboghas and al-Sadrs have the controlling interest in Qat Oil Services which has some natural gas and petroleum refinery product tankers which are produced by Majatran Fishing of Al’Baharia. These are used for transport between and around Mu’Tassim and Nashwa.
Qat Oil services also owns some large crude oil tankers it has purchased from time to time from various international sources. The Kerboghas have often approached Majatran Fishing about letting them buy into it and expanding into large ships so Qat Oil Services can build its own crude oil fleet rather than just have a few cast offs from other organizations.
Majatran Fishing of Al’Baharia has steadfastly refused all offers from the Kerboghas insisting it wishes to remain a tightly held organization with a narrow focus rather than lose its identity in some grandiose Kerbogha Family vision. After years of stalemate, a solution which gives Qat Oil services an opportunity to build its own tankers but leaves Majatran Fishing independent has arisen.
There will be a joint venture to establish South Ocean Shipyard in the port city of Ras el-Haram with Majatran Fishing, Marakesh Digital and the Interuniversity Reverse Engineering Department of the National Institute of Technology and Majatran University of Bafdara providing the expertise and Qat Oil Services and Mu’Tassim Enterprises providing the capital. Marakesh Digital is the digital consulting and engineering consortium owned by the Qahtani Family while Mu’Tassim Enterprises is the financial and banking holding company of the al-Qassem Family.
The Managing Partner of Qat Oil Services, Narouz Kerbogha, announced that all arrangements have been made and the venture would be up and running within a year and able within four to supply any tanker needs that Qat Oil Services may have.
Jamal IX al-Sadr, Former Minister of Internal Affairs, will be the President of South Ocean Shipyard. All paper work was handled by the law firm of Aziz, al-Akim, Wallenstein, Bourguiba and Vasilevskii.
