The United Movement, one of the new members of Baltusia's political atmosphere and a quickly-growing one, has named Villita city councilwoman Anita Harper as the UM presidential candidate for upcoming elections set to take place two months from now. Harper, an experienced politician who has in the past ran as an unaffiliated candidate, is known in the capital as a liberal who has not been afraid to voice her opinions, even as a low-level politician in the capital city. Harper is the most senior member of the council, having served as the council's chairwoman for 15 years, and has supported liberal policies such as the legalization of gay marriage, abortion, and recreational substances; regulation of the market; and expansion of healthcare services. Harper's liberal positions are sure to please the more liberal members of the party, which has yet to lay out a platform, as it still calls itself a big-tent movement. However, based off of voting of of 35 member selection committee used to decide the candidate, the party is about 45% liberal, 40% conservative, and 5 percent centrist. Now, Harper and the rest of the UM move into campaigning to try and rally the people of Baltusia behind their cause.
