Yamazaki Shot
November 9th 4262
On the eve of the Kenpō Minshutō leadership elections the leader of the moderate Yamazakist faction was shot, while making a speech, by a member of the Kenpō Minshutō paramilitary Constitutional Protection Force who was aligned with more radical factions. Those thought to have been behind the assassination have been arrested but according to some sources Hinata Yamazaki is in a coma. With the loss of their main leader the Yamazakist faction did poorly in the Party Presidency elections and the elections to the Executive Committee of the Kenpō Minshutō as many of their candidates stood down out of fear. By the end of voting eight out of twelve positions in the committee were held by a strange coalition of Sekowo First-ers, nationalistic socialists and traditionalist conservatives, united only in their opposition to the moderates. The presidency of the party went to Yuki Hiroko, Foreign Affairs Minister, who re-appointed Shouhei Hayashi as leader of the party in the national Parliament.

No new government?
Following the recent legislative and presidential elections in Sekowo, many expected a new government to be formed. It is now months after the election and yet no new cabinet has been proposed to the Parliament nor have any new bills. As such the previous government is still in office.

Where are the victors of the election?

Sekowo to restore Monarchy
The Government of Sekowo has issued a press release inviting any willing party to become the new monarch of Sekowo.
Under government plans the monarch would govern with little power, with more power being given to nobility and local governments.

It seems like the end of Sekowo as a republic.

Dubbed Sekowo-Net, it will allow most functions of the internet but has an aim to prevent dangerous dissent from spreading. High Commissioner Passes
The nation is in a state of national mourning as the first High Commissioner has passed away, succeeded by his eldest daughter.
He had only ruled for seven years before his death, from 4268/9 as Regent to 4275 as High Commissioner.

He had ruled very conservatively, pushing the government to enact controls on the press and attempting to maintain stability.
His daughter has indicated that she will rule in some ways more liberally, and will push the government to massively expand and create a true welfare state.

Above: Rioters are taken away by the police forces for questioning.

Riots were today broken up in the capital. Following the proposal of a new law that would see traitors reeducated instead of punished, small protests began in the capital. They quickly escalated into riots and police intervened, fearing that the rioters were attempting a coup.

All involved have been arrested and are to be put on trial for Crimes Against the State

High Commissioner meets with leaders of Kamist Faction
May 2nd 4276

Today the High Commissioner was seen meeting with members of a small Kamist sect.
The sect she met with is considered to be a very fringe group. It advocates for a standardisation of Kamist practises and recognition of only a small amount of deities, belief in a powerful, central deity as head of this pantheon and belief in a Hosian-like afterlife. Many of the sects other beliefs are in-line with traditional Sekowan Kamism.
