March 4907
Announcement from the Government of the Sekoku (Seko)

This press message was released by the Government of the Sekoku (Seko).

The nation of Sekoku has officially ended its period of political disorganization with the emergence of our party, 国民復活党 (Kokumin Fukkatsu-to) or the National Recovery Party. Our party aims to revive Sekoku by reforming its constitution and reorganizing its political sphere. We aim to restore stability, order, and the preeminence of the central government, without regard for ideological divisions of capitalism and socialism, or between those of one faith and another.

Signed, the Government of the Sekoku (Seko)

Constitutional Patriot Party Formed to Represent All Sekowans

Thousands of Sekowans march in support of a democratically elected government

After years of stagnant government run by bureaucrats, thousands of Sekowans gathered in the capital of Ishinawa to officially launch the Constitutional Patriot Party.

The Constitutional Patriot Party or RAT (Seko Kunikata abbreviation) is intended to represent all Sekowans, regardless of ideology, and engage in an ambitious program to "restore the country". Led by former army officer-turned bureaucrat-turned local political Kanagusuku Sokon, the RAT is believed to be the only contender for the next general election. Already, the party nominated Kanagusuku to be the head of government candidate and released a manifesto detailing major changes to the country.

First and foremost, the RAT plans to return Sekoku to its roots. The monarchy will be restored under the Teera Clan, an ancient Sekowan family claiming descent from Creation Goddess. Much of their role will be confined to ceremonial functions and liaising with the hereditary and matrilinial High Priestess - who will be granted equal rank with the future king. More traditional Sekowan symbols will be venerated, along with other policies representative of Seko.

On the hard policy front, the RAT will be pragmatic. It is expected that it will draw a great deal from the Seko Model, while refining past policies to meet contemporary needs.

In terms of foreign policy, RAT Leader Kanagusuku has already sent messages to counterparts in Yingdala, with the intention of improving ties between the two countries (again following the Seko model). However, Kanagusuku is believed to be a firm believer in Yingdala's leadership of the Gao-Showan people. He likely intends to establish and ever closer relationship with Seko's big brother than at any time in the past.

Only the gods know Seko's future.

RAT Wins General Election, Promises Tradition and Progress

RAT Leader Kanagusuku Sokon declares victory

Rule by bureaucrats is over. Thanks to the RAT's participation of and victory in the 4917 general election, Sekuku is a democracy restored.

While just over 10% of Sekuku's population participated, it was better than nothing. RAT Leader Kanagusuku Sokon, the soon-to-be National and Royal Advisor (head of government), pledged his government would engage in an ambitious reform program to benefit all Sekowans.

Thank you, my brothers and sisters of Sekowo, for participating in the election. I know it may have seemed a bit unusual, as democracy seemed like a thing of the past, but I promise we will create a democratic, traditional, and progressive Sekuku together.

We will stand up for our environment and fight climate change.

We will restore our traditions - the King and High Priestess - and strengthen democracy.

We will play to our economic strengths - trade, culture, agriculture, and services - to provide good, high-paying, and family-sustaining jobs.

We will strengthen our social services to ensure no one is left behind.

And we will uphold peace and diplomacy within our country, pledging to never use force unless directly attacked.

Together, with our big brother Yingdala, we will achieve prosperity!

Already, besides introducing a new cabinet, the RAT has put forward two bills. The first would effectively reform the Sekowan government and structure to restore the constitutional monarchy, which is in effect a diarchy (the patrilinial kingship and matrilinal high priestesshood are co-equals). The second would more effectively protect Sekuku's environmental.

The environmental and climate protection law draws heavily from the Seko Model and Liberation Movement. It is expected future law changes will further draw from Seko's traditional and progressive Seko Model era.

In terms of foreign policy, Seko's royal family to be graciously accepted gifts from Malivia, immediately donating them to the National Museum where they can be displayed and enjoyed by all. A possible visit by the future king and high priestess to the Grand Union of Yingdala may also be in the works. It is expected that no enthronement ceremony will take place without explicit approval and recognition from the Son of Heaven.

For now, Sekowans must wait and see with hope that the RAT will be able to deliver on their message of a prosperous, traditional, and progressive country.

Sekuku Diarchy "Restored", State Visit to Yingdala Planned

The Order of Kamist Priestesses ritualistically bless the new era

The people seem to be rejoicing, at least those who support the Constitutional Patriots, that the Sekuku diarchy has been "restored". There are many historians who would reject the notion of a diarchy, arguing that Sekuku has been a monarchy and theocracy in the past, but the leaders have largely all been women. And while some are happy to see a return of both monarchical and theocratic elements, others are likely seeking to understand just who the Teera Clan are and why they were made monarchs. No doubt, there will be many investigating whether the Teera Clan and the RAT are Yingdalan puppets - and whether they are being compensated for their actions. Regardless, the current diarchy - whatever its historicity - will bring a greater sense of tradition and identity to Sekuku.

Part of this new identity is a more outwardly pro-Yingdala stance. This has, in previous decades, been largely true. History is full of a more powerful Sekuku, but numerous conflicts and status as international pariah have changed Seko to become more peaceful and content. Naturally, this led to a realignment toward Yingdala.

With this realignment, the new King of Sekuku and the High Priestess are set to travel to Tian'an, Yingdala, as observers of the Eight Economies Summit. There, they are expected to meet with Yingdalan officials and formally participate in vassal and investiture rites. There are many who undoubtedly uncomfortable with such a formal tributary status, by the RAT has assured the populace that vassalage will allow Seko to maintain peace and focus on internal developments, such as implementing the Seko model.

It seems, for the time being, Seko will continue down is recent historical path of internal development and external peace.

Government Expresses Alarm at Hulstria and Gao-Soto Border Skirmish, Preemptively Apologizes and Makes the First Diplomatic Move
Image
Sekowan pacifism is a hallmark of the Seko Model

Reports of skirmishes along the Seko-Hulstria and Gao-Soto border raised alarm bells within the cabinet today. This is the first major test of the new RAT government.

Sources close to the government say that high officials had only learned of the border skirmish from Hulstrian and Gao-Soton news. Intelligence officials, as well as military officers, were completely in the dark.

Now it is not entirely out of the question that such a skirmish could occur and initiated by the Sekowan side. The armed forces budget was recently cut by nearly 5.5 billion, leading to massive demobilization and layoffs. The Ministry of Defense intends to drastically transform the armed forces into a purely defensive force with no offensive capabilities. It would be understandable that some disgruntled officers would seek to create a crisis to demonstrate their importance and necessity. However, the RAT government has already found a solution for its defense woes: vassal status to Yingdala. Such status would mitigate the risk of officers going rouge, but it is still possible.

Minister Wiibaru Yukinari's released a brief statement regarding the border clash.
We have heard reports that Sekowan and Hulstrian and Gao-Soton military forces skirmished along the shared border. There were casualties on both sides, but no one was killed. While we are still investigating the matter, we can assure all Sekowans that orders to engage our neighbors to the north did not come from the Ministry of Defense or anyone in the Cabinet. We urge cooler heads to prevail.

To reduce tensions and carry out the government's pacifist foreign policy, Kanagusuku Sokon, the Royal and National Advisor (Head of Government) and Leader of the RAT, has taken full reigns of the national security apparatus. He has tightened controls on coordination and communication, asking that all policy directives be approved by his office. Moreover, Advisor Kanagusuku pledged to issue a full apology for all past Sekowan wars and atrocities through the World Congress and urge Hulstria and Gao-Soto and Sekowan to resolve differences through diplomacy.

Right now, Ishinawa is on high alert - praying for a dragon to rescue them.
