MONASTIC ORDER HAS VISIT FROM ITS FIRST MASTER

Mavigny, March 6, 5010: The Contemplative Monastic Order of Occidentalium which is based in Jumhuriat al-Badara has a new First Master, Aulus Marius who will be visiting the one Chapter House of the Order in Kanjor. Gaius Trebonius was the First Master who sponsored the opening of a Chapter House in Martois Region near Mavigny with the approval of the Partriarch of Martois and the government.

The Chapter House is in a hilly area with cold mountain streams which allow the cultivation of wasabi in them. The wasabi will be used to give a horse radish flavor to the mustard made by the monks from plants they cultivate. The Order generally is known for its mustard and the chapter House in Kanjor carries its weight in production and sales.

The monks also cultivate pinot noir and chardonnay grapes for red and white wine for their own use and for sale. They have some Chagra goats from which they get pashmina fibers with which they make shawls. In addition to these items produced for sale, they have vegetable and herb gardens for their own use. A trust fund was given to the Chapter by the Order which is controlled by Prior Lucius Servillius. To the extent items for sale do not cover expenses such as bread, books and clothing and utilities, interest from the trust fund is used.

It is generally believed that the funds of the Order were derived from piracy and smuggling before the Occidentalium was shipwrecked off the coast of the smaller island of Badara.

First Master Marius will spend a week with the monks of the Kanjor Chapter. While he will audit the books, he will attend the evening discussions where the topic is currently what signs of a developing loving spirit have been witnessed.

CEC TREATY TO BE RATIFIED

Atyr, Februsry 27, 5011: CLAIRON PICARD has just learned from the Office of Premier Paul Barras that Assistant Federation Canrille Floor Leader Maurice St. Leger has reported the votes are in hand to ratify the Canrillaise Economic Community (CEC) Treaty, a goal that eluded intense efforts by former Governor General Fouquet but now seem finally possible.

The Office of the Premier will shortly issue the following statement:

We are gratified to finally announce that the Parlenent de Royaume-Uni de Kanjor will ratify the treaty which will allow us to join the Canrillaise Economic Community. This will formalize our relationship with the Royaume Uni de Lourenne with whom we are working to build a better economic and security future together.

Seriously, we have good reason to be optimistic today.

KEYMON SELLING LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS TO KANJOR

Office of the Premier, May 27, 5014: CLAIRON PICARD has learned from the Office of Premier Paul Barras that an agreement has been reached between Brennstoff, A.G., and South Seleyan Oil and Gas (SSO&G) whereby Brenstoff, A.G., will sell to SSO&G ten billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas per annum at market price for distribution and resale in the Royaume-Uni de Kanjor.

Brennstoff, A.G., is a Keymon state-owned enterprise, formerly known as ING. As a part of the commitment of the Keymon government to a green economy, restructuring of this state owned enterprises included the requirement by the Keymon government that 30% of the state-owned company’s enterprise must be dedicated towards renewable energy.

South Seleyan Oil and Gas is joint venture of Air Kanjor, Auto Seleya and Laval Group to import and distribute oil and natural gas.

CLAIRON PICARD has learned that the port for importing the LNG is Hautemps-sur Mer in Numineux Region. LNG from this purchase will be distributed first in Numineux Region then expanded to Martois and Val de-Azur.

To the extent funding liquidity becomes necessary, the Ministry of Trade and Industry will provide loan funds through the Central Bank. Lucas, Janvier and Maigret would be the law firm provid-ing loan closing instructions and documentation.

Brennstoff will be sending LNG to Kanjor from an LNG liquefaction facility constructed by it near Portu Betania as the foundation of Keymon’s participation in the global LNG market. The global LNG market currently lacks serious participation by the major crude oil players content with their crude oil profits potentially leaving the LNG market wide open to dominance by Brenstoff.

Some years prior, a major natural gas find in the Cobra-4, allowed Keymon to produce LNG from its own natural resources rather than imported natural gas.

Natural gas which is largely methane with some ethane, butane, propane and alkalines is cooled down to a liquid state for ease of non pressurized storage and shipment since in the liquid state its volume is 1/600 of its volume in a gaseous state. The liquefaction plant will remove water, benzene, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen sulfide thar freeze too easily and wll refine it to be almost entirely methane. The two main processes are cooling by gases cooled by other gases and repeatedly passing through orifices til the gas cools enough to liquify.

KANJOR JOINS MAJATRAN PHARMACEUTICAL NETWORK

Atyr, February 27, 5015: Finance Minister Michel Duplessis today made the following announcement:

Health and Social Services Minister Philippe St. Leger has enrolled Royaume-Uni de Kanjor in the Majatran Pharmaceutical Network (MPN). This will allow suppliers, wholesalers and pharmacies to buy any prescription drug listed by any manufacturer, supplier or wholesaler listing its products for sale on the network.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services will maintain an interface whereby those prescription drugs produced in Kanjor may be sold to any customer of MPN and whereby any pharmacy, drug store supplier or wholesaler in Kanjor may purchase any product listed by MPN. This will insure that in the event of a serious outbreak we will have access to many more products approved for treatment than if we relied only on our own resources.

The Majatran Pharmaceutical Network (MPN) is now operating as a non profit corporation by action of the Majatran Economic Association (MEA). There is a self perpetuating independent board of directors which among other things selects the headquarters temporarily located in Bier Qassem.

Further all products of More Medicaments Manufactures (3M) are available to participants from MPN by contract with 3M. MPN and Al’Fostat Dispensing bought the exclusive rights to the thyroid, cholesterol, plaque psoriasis and high blood pressure divisions of 3M so that MPN is now servicing those accounts formally operated by 3M throughout Terra. If a manufacturer would like to produce these drugs formerly exclusively available only through 3M, licenses are available from MPN.

Although MPN is a corporation created by Majatran Economic Association (MEA), MEA membership is not required for participation and to take advantage of the services available, any nation or other appropriate participant actually only needs to notify MPN.

KING MAY CREATE KNIGHTHOODS

Atyr, April 27, 5016: Justice Minister Helene Chaufourrier today made the following announcement:

A question was sent for a determination by the Ministry of Justice from the Gouverneur General’s Office after discussion with Palace officials. May the Monarch under current law create knighthoods?

Current law provides that titles of nobility may be inherited but not created. As we see it, the question is whether a knighthood is a title of nobility. If not, the Monarch may create them.

As near as we can tell, originally knights were the class below the nobles in a stage of the ancient history of Seleucia. In Kanjor a chevalier or knight was a mounted warrior serving a lord or a king. The lord or king would give them the title after either training and preparation or on the battlefield after a heroic performance. Typically they would be pages, then squires and then knights pledged to serving their liege lord who might or might not give them some land usually while they served.

The nobility itself, the noblesse d’epee, or nobility of the sword, originated as war lords who controlled territory and would appear to serve their liege lord or king with their knights, men at arms, and armed levies of free men and serfs perhaps with lesser lords pledged to them and their knights, men at arms and levies.

Several historical developments do confuse the question. Over time, the monarchy took over the creation of chevaliers as well as nobles ( with titles of baron, baronne, vicomte, vicomtesse, comte, comtesse, marquis, marquise, duc and duchesse). In addition to the noblesse d’epee there developed the noblesse de robe who were functionaries of the monarch given titles of nobility but not necessarily land or obligations of military service.

In some realms there was a baronet title which was hereditary. There even was the very strange idea of a life peer who got a supposedly noble title but whose offspring could not inherit it. This anomaly was once the law in Kanjor.

If we just went with the idea that knighthood is an honor given by the monarch like nobility or medals to soldiers that would be one thing but we believe looking at history leads us to the conclusion that knights were not nobles.

Accordingly, we do not see why the law should be treated as forbidding the monarch to create knights.

LAB GROWN CHICKEN

Kanjo, May 6, 5017: At the Universite Imperiale de Kanjo, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Martine Courvoisier, announced that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture will be funding a project at the Universite Imperiale de Kanjo for the Zoology Department to grow chicken meat from stem cells with a view to making a lab grown meat product available to food markets in Royaume-Uni de Kanjor with trial marketing in Numineux Region.

The perceived need is that the environmental impact would be far less than raising and feeding chickens for slaughter. Further, eliminating the slaughter of the fowl as is the current practice would seem to be a positive reason as well. If successful the project could be expanded to other meat eaten by the population such as beef, pork, duck, turkey and fish. The idea is not to appeal to vegetarians but to people who eat meat but would like to reduce the environmental impact. Lab grown chicken is occurring in Jumhuriat al-Badara on a small scale and it is believed Kanjor can replicate the success of Badara.

The process is for stem cells from the outside of chickens to be taken and initially grown in petri dishes in a laboratory. Production scale for marketing will have production in giant meat fermenters so production will resemble a brewery or a greenhouse depending on the ultimately most effective method. This biological engineered product will be meat which in this case will be chicken. The product will taste like chicken.

There will be a royalty system so farmers allowing their fowl to be part of the project will receive compensation. Further it is hoped farmers can take over large scale production. The University will be establishing the process not going into the food business for the long term.

AUTO SELEYA WILL SELL ELECTRIC CARS IN LIORE

Office of the Premier, February 16, 5019: Premier Michel DuPlessis announced that an arrangement has been reached between Liore and Kanjor allowing Auto Aeleya to market its electric automobiles at distribution centers in the cities of Nzurchanga, Yamabiro, and Naranpa-Bakundu.

Auto Seleya will primarily be selling its Carnot Segmento, an electric line of mid size automobiles developed in conjunction with Freres LaFollette who had developed the first electric vehicles in Kanjor concentrating on trucks and tractors in Martois Region. Freres LaFollette will be involved in establishing charging stations in Liore near the distribution centers and training personnel in how to expand the area covered as necessary including setting up residential stations.

Auto Seleya will also be marketing the Carnot Ami, a much smaller vehicle for use where there are serious urban parking problems or where short journeys in isolated areas are anticipated although as a considerably cheaper vehicle it is possible it may well have a natural market of its own.

This agreement is not intended as an exclusive agreement so Liore is quite free to enter arrangements for other electric vehicles with other nations and businesses. It is a great opportunity for Auto Seleya and Freres LaFollette to expand its market beyond our borders and to participate in the Green Revolution in transportation.

APC IN KANJOR REORGANIZES

Atyr, November 26, 5019: Greeted at the Aurorian Patriarchal Church (APC) Cathedral in atyr by the Dean of the Cathedral and Diocesan staff as His Grace, the newly appointed Patriarch of Silliers, Francois Barrineau, thanked the Dean and announced some changes.

Barrineau has just come from the Curia where he served as Camerarius. Although many of the leadership posts in the Curia and international church are vacant, he has contacts sufficient to assure approval by the Curia to institute what is billed as a reform aimed at conforming the APC in Kanjor to tradition.

For a number of years, each Region had its own episcopal official called a Patriarch although earlier the Conference of Kanjor was subordinate to a Patriarch of Canrille, a post currently vacant. The Conference of Kanjor has now been authorized by the Curia to be presided over by Father Barrineau as the Primate of Kanjor who will be the Archbishop of Atyr overseeing the Archdiocese of Atyr encompassing the Region of Silliers.

Names and titles aside, the most significant change is the other Regions will each be a Diocese headed by a Bishop (formerly a patriarch) reporting to the Primate of Kanjor. Address can include Eminence for the Archbishop and Excellency for the Bishops. It is expected most actual references to either will be, ”his worship.”

Although the titles may sound less pretentious and some may have preferred each diocese to remain directly responsible to the Arch Patriarch and Curia, many are quite relieved since talk of returning to the Old System had made many think there would only be one bishop and one diocese for all of Kanjor.

Archbishop Barrineau then proceeded north of Atyr to the Annual Seven Villages Boules Championship where he awarded the trophy to the winning team, a large bronze statuette of Saint Andronicus.

GOVERNOR GENERAL GOING TO REPUBLIC DAY IN RILDANOR

Office of the Governor General, September 22, 5022: CLAIRON PICARD has learned from the Office of Governor General Paul Barras that he will be attending the first annual national holiday, Republic Day, in La Republique de Rildanor which is ending the use of Trudeauiste to describe itself and is getting a new flag and a new national anthem to reflect reforms to carry it into a new era.

Governor General Barras will be joining in the public celebrations at the invitation of the government of La Republique de Rildanor to demonstrate the friendship and support of Royaume – Uni de Kanjor for the government and people of La Republique de Rildanor and their forward looking reforms.
