Vice Admiral Saunier before National Assembly
January 4858

Atyr, La Tondelle-Silliers - Chief of the National Defense Staff Vice-Amiral d'escadre Amaury Saunier spoke before the National Assembly on the ongoing efforts of the Kanjorian rearmament and modernization. In agreement with the National Air Force's Defense Staff, the number of aircraft in the National Air Force will be reduced overall; the most notable reduction will be in the Dimont Mirage 2000B trainer aircraft reducing the total stock down to 100 in favor of newer, more modern jet trainers and fighter trainers. The Dimont Mirage 2000B will continue to serve a vital, important role according to the Vice Admiral but the need to modernize trainers is far more important. The Dimont Mirage 2000F will be undergoing a massive modernization program to upgrade the fighters to the latest Mirage 20005F2 variant, the modernization program was initially agreed to when the PRD came to power and began shortly after. The current stock of 20005F's sit at around 250 but will be reduced to 200 and entirely modernized. A Dimont team will also modernize the 2000D close air support variant and 2000B trainer variants as a part of the wider program. It appears that the future of the National Air Force in Kanjor and likely around the Canrillaise world will be the new Dimont Rafale. The Vice Admiral confirmed a number of modernization's and changes to the structure of the Rafale's operated by the National Air Force. According to the National Defense Staff the Rafale program within the National Air Force will focus on upgrading all Rafale's to their modern variants to the F4.2 modernization standard. Underneath the agreement with Dimont the Rafale program will alter a number of the currently existing Rafale fighters in the National Air Force to a number of different variants including a group to navalized variants to serve aboard a potential future aircraft.

Minister of Defense Maryvonne Clérisseau and Vice Admiral Saunier confirmed that Lourenne and Kanjor agreed, in principle, to form the Canrillaise Foreign Legion. Defense Minister Clérisseau stated that the legion would be open to ethnic Canrillaise citizens and those foreign citizens who wish to receive citizenship in a Canrillaise members state. The program will require domestic approval of other Canrillaise states but it is likely that Lourenne and Kanjor will agree to afford their respective citizenship's to persons who serve in this Canrillaise Foreign Legion. The idea is in the development stage as it stands and further discussion and cooperation is needed between Lourenne and Kanjor before the idea takes off. In relation to the Kanjorian Army, the Vice Admiral noted that a number of modernization efforts had taken place in previous administrations and would be continued. The upgraded, purchases and modernization's of armored vehicles, military utility vehicles and other vehicles would be paramount to the strategy of the Kanjorian Armed Forces said the Vice Admiral. The focus on building a quick, rapid reaction-based force is what the Kanjorian Armed Forces leadership is aiming for. It is likely that the government in Atyr wants this due to the ever changing approach to warfare. The Vice Admiral cited the "Dorvish model" where warfare is dominated by smaller, more mobile and modular structures and formations versus large-scale warfare made up of heavily structured divisions and corps that are heavy to use and reliant on too much logistical support.

The National Navy was not discussed and the Vice Admiral shared with reporters that an entire hearing had been scheduled to discuss the National Navy and its overall program.

Northern Martois: Monnord Community clamors for greater autonomy (April 4859)

Image
Monnord rally held in the city of Soulon, both Le Coq and Gautho lead the relatively peaceful rally.

Soulon, Martois - Roparzh Le Coq, the President of the Monnord Community (Cannrillaise: Communauté de Monnord), has formally petitioned the government for greater autonomy in the northern Martois. Monnords (OOC: Bretons) are heavily influenced by Aldurian and Mordusian settlers and have for a long been an unrepresented group in Kanjor and other Canrillaise-majority nations. The recent efforts by Le Coq and his Vice President Primela Gautho have shined light on the push for greater autonomy for the Monnord community. Monnords according to the Ministry of the Interior comprise roughly 2% of the Kanjorian population which equates to an estimated 1,089,966 Kanjorian citizens with the largest concentration in Northern Martois located on the Rildanor and Aldurian border. Le Coq who serves as a Regional Councilor in the Martois Regional Council and Gautho, a Vice President in the Department Council of Abbaye Saint-Germain Créteil, the department that contains the capital of Nasbourg. While the southern portion of Martois is largely ethnic Kanjorian, the northern portions are largely controlled by Monnords. In his petition to the government in Atyr Le Coq asked for greater oversight over local matters notably in requiring a portion of seats in the Martois Regional Council and assignment of seats in the Departments of Soulon, Sillingly and Saint-Étienne where the vast majority of the people are Monnord or are descendants of Monnord's.

Monnords, a conjugation of "Northern Mountains" in Carillaise (Montagne du Nord), have long existed in the northern reaches of Martois with smaller settlements in northeastern Numineux. Monnords are closely related to Luthorian-based explorers largely believed to be from the region of Kirlawa or potentially more Celda people across the globe. Monnords traditionally speak Canrillaise in the modern era but have their own language that is spoken by roughly only 25% of the population. Monnords share many commonalities with the ethnic Canrillaise Kanjorians, notably their deep faith in the Aurorian Patriarchial Church and contributions to Kanjorian history over the centuries though many modern Kanjorian historians discount them. Le Coq and Gautho are some of the more prominent Monnord nationalist to come around that have chosen diplomatic efforts versus other means. The most famous Monnord nationalist was Kolen Le Penven who lead a violent separatist group that has plagued the local Interior forces in Martois for years. Le Penven was captured and imprisoned several years ago for life following the death of two gendermerie officers and wounding of a dozen civilians, including Monnords.

La Gazette Royale - The Royal Gazette
Kanjor establishes "New Era Fund"
June 4859

Atyr, La Tondelle-Silliers - Prime Minister Aubin Solé and Minister of Foreign and Seleyan Affairs Sébastien Beaubois announced the formation of the New Era Fund (Canrillaise: fonds nouvelle ère) the focus of the New Era Fund is to support post-Colonial Canrillaise minority or majority nations. The decision to form the fund comes after a series of events in New Alduria that prompted an internal discussion on how modern "Western" Canrillaise states can assist former colonial holdings in Dovani and Temania. The New Era Fund will initially have a contribution of 250m LOD and will provide no to low interest loans to government agencies in post-Colonial Canrilliase states, it will also provide grants and funds to non-governmental organizations in post-Colonial Canrillaise states through an application method. According to Secretary of State for Canrillaise Affairs (renamed from "for the Canrillaise Empire") Frédéric d'Aurilimar the NEF will be the first step in many steps to repair relations with post-Colonial states. Timothée Lièvremont, a former Kanjorian central bank official, has been appointed to head the fund and a number of other prominent industrialist and finance officials. According to the Ministry of Foreign and Seleyan Affairs the Kanjorian Kingdom already sends "considerable" amounts of aid to former Colonial holdings of Canrillaise states and has increased contributions over the past several years according to Deputies of the National Assembly who were interviewed about their support for the project.

The NEF is part of a wider program of Kanjor to restore its world image and promote its international policy. A recent act of the National Assembly saw Kanjor support Aldegar for Seat C (the seat representing Seleya) in a move to strike out against Endralon and its imperialist allies in the Security Council. Secretary of State for the World Congress Stéphane Mossé has been a vocal opponent of the Endralonian and their cohorts in the Security Council and Kanjor views Endralon as a "...threat to sovereignty and the international order." While Kanjor has limited dealings within the World Congress it is not blind to the happenings in the Security Council and the World Congress itself. Mossé shared in the concerns of Selucia in regards to recent against Dolgavia attempting to ban Communist and Socialist parties and policies. "It is obviously a very difficult topic. Naturally we are strong supporters of sovereign rights and while we can condemn Dolgavia for what appears to be an attack on the democratic process, we should stop ourselves from attempting to intervene in any way. The Kingdom of Kanjor believes firmly in sovereign and respecting the international order." The Ministry of Foreign and Seleyan Affairs has been very actively recently with working on trade deals and developing access to other markets and granting greater access to the Kanjorian economy itself.

La Gazette Royale - The Royal Gazette
Kanjor formally ascends to the Canrillaise Empire
June, 4681

Atyr, La Tondelle-Silliers - In a ceremonial meeting of the National Assembly, attended by a number of nobles, civil officials and others, the National Assembly voted to return to the arms of the Canrilliase Empire formally. While technically Kanjor was underneath the guise of the King of Kanjor who was by extension Canrillaise Emperor, the vote formalized what had already been known: the Canrillaise Empire was back. Governor-General Pierre-Antoine Thibault lead the ceremony that was attended by hundreds of government officials, including the Prime Minister, the Council of Ministers, the Mayor of Atyr and hundreds of others. The Governor-General spoke about the benefits of the Empire, the cultural heritage that comes with the Empire and the ability for citizens from Alduria, Kanjor and Lourenne to share their common benefit for each other. The Governor-General remained aloof of Rildanor, the Canrillaise neighbor who has remained a hold-out and a bastion of republican resistance to the Empire and mentioned them little. Secretary of State for Canrillaise Affairs Frédéric d'Aurilimar spoke regarding Kanjor policies towards Rildanor and how it would look to them still as brothers and sisters but they would largely be left out of the "major" benefits that the Empire could bring, naturally that could change by the will of the Emperor and their desires but it was likely the stance the Empire would take. The event was underneath heavy guard with the Governor-General, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense authorizing Operation Sentinel, an authorization that grants the Kanjorian Armed Forces the ability to operate off Kanjorian bases and on "civilian" territory outside of their exclusive zone. Over the coming weeks and months the Kingdom of Kanjor will ensure interoperability with the Canrillaise Empire, notably in the field of economic laws and civil matters that come with the trappings of empire.

June 4871: In a snap election, Pierre-Antoine Thibault did not stand for Governor-General allowing the position to remain vacant. King Philippe VI will conduct the duties of the Head of State alone. The Parti royal démocrate won all 575 seats. A total of 12,007,935 votes were cast, putting turnout at 16.07%.

July 4872: Mesteql legislators of the Jemhewra Aldegar (Aldegar) withdrew from the Declaration of Kanjor Neutrality among other treaties. Ironically, Kanjor is not a signatory to that treaty but is disappointed none-the-less with Aldegar's withdraw.

June 4871-May 4876: The Parti royal démocrate has dissolved itself voluntarily making King Philippe VI absolute ruler of Kanjor.

September 4875: The Loyaliste Royaliste Parti and the Silverbug Shareholders Pour le mandat have introduced themselves to the Kanjorian public by promoting a string of military, health, and economic bills in the vacant National Assembly. While none of these bills may legally pass, they give insight to the voters as to the parties' intentions. The LRP is led by Robert Alarie and his brother, Stanly Alarie. The Silverbug Shareholders are led by Konfuzius Silberkafer.

La Kanjorienne: August 4950
La Dame: Esther Dior

Image

Bonjour a Tous. We have been blessed to have an exclusive interview with La Presidente Esther Dior. For those who are not familiar with her story. She started out as a blogger, making videos commentating on society and politics. At 32, she was elected as the youngest mayor of Villebrun-Sur-Mer. At 36, she founded the Pour Nous Party, which filled the empty Legislature under the “Lazy Regime.” At 42, she has been our president for 3 terms now, and the party has changed into the Party L’Unionist.

I: Hello, Presidente. I appreciate you being able to sit with us.
D: Thank you

I: Now, 4950 is an election year. Are you excited about October 3rd?
D: Oh, I certainly am. We ran outstanding primaries this year, so we are definitely excited to sit them in le Senat.

I: Now, this election, you will be running as the “Parti L’Unioniste.” What does that mean exactly? Do you feel it was significant enough to warrant changing the party name and image?
D: L’Unionism is the idea that the nation of Kanjor is made up of two distinct peoples: Kajoriens and Tondellais. The Kanjoriens are from the mainland, and the Tondellais are from the mainland. The two peoples are united as one nation due to historical circumstances, but never should lose their distinct identities.

After the last election, our party decided to merge with a growing unionist movement in Kanjor for federalism “le Parti Kanjorien” to pursue federalism in the name of unionist ideals. Both appreciating our peoples and safeguarding our nation as a whole. With the name came a shuffle of the cabinet and new party rules. As a party, we have decided our candidates for President, and Prime Minister must be from opposite regions. The party must fill the cabinet with an equal proportion of both regions.

I: Some people say that L’Unionism is simply a soft way of disintegration of the nation. How do you respond to that claim?
D: How could anyone think that. We intertwine our peoples in our federal government. Our party is all about guarding the Union we have and respecting both our peoples, instead of having one dominates over another.

I: Now, what should we expect from you this term?
D: The finalization of La Loi Sur La Federalisme. This law will be a constitutional bill that has been long in the making. We will finalize how the new Gourvenment Federal, will work. The roles of the regions and provinces, and be the beginning of a framework for our Federal Republic.

I: We know this has been a priority for your government. Do you see yourself taking any trips overseas after this declaration to build prestige for the nation?
D: I hope so. I want to keep working on ourselves before I think about the rest of the world.

I: Thank you so much for the interview Madame Presidente. I wish you good luck with your next term.
D: Thank you.
