Prime Minister and several Cabinet heads set to resign
The current prime Minister, dame Villiers, and other Cabinets members are set to resign to make space to younger generations, now that the most important proposals from Her Majesty's Government have been put in place.
They will tend their resignations to Her Majesty the Queen, so that the party would select the Prime ministerial candidate.

NATIONALIST PARTY SURGES TO VICTORY IN ELECTION
Democratic Rally Gains 268 Seats In First Ever Election For New Party

January 4450

A historic victory has occurred today in Kanjor as the Democratic Rally, a new party in Kanjor politics, surged to victory in the last elections on a platform of Canrillaise cooperation and independent development. With just over 78% of the popular vote the nationalists gained 268 of the 375 seats in the National Assembly, propelling them into government. With the defeat of the long standing People's Party this election marks a serious shift in Kanjor's politics towards Canrillaise unity and Republicanism.

The election came at an important time in South Seleyan history as negotiations between the major Canrillaise powers are currently underway regarding the formation of a unified Canrillaise state formed around the current Federation of Canrille. Journal Fédéraliste asked leader of Democratic Rally and soon to be Prime Minister Renaud Gaudin how he thought the present trend in Nationalism throughout the Canrillaise nations may have contributed to his party's staggering electoral success.

GAUDIN: It appears to be undeniable after the last election that the will of the citizens of Kanjor is to unify with their neighbours in a Canrillaise state. The fact that such a political position has so much support elsewhere within the Canrille Federation further indicates the historic nature of the present political climate. We have as a people a real opportunity here to achieve something our ancestors have strived for for millennia yet failed to achieve; a United Canrille.
We are currently in negotiations with other key partners within the Canrillaise Organisation and elsewhere to bring apart this dream which the Canrillaise people have hoped for for generations. It may soon be a reality and that to me is incredible.

REPUBLICAN'S BEGIN MOVES TO OPPOSE MONARCHY
As Republican Act Being Voted On By The House, Prime Minister Strikes Back At Criticism

October 4450
Image
Image

In the National Assembly their is currently a bill being debated which will lead to the end of the Kanjor monarchy and the implementation of an elected President as a head of state. The main party supporting the act, the Socialist Party formerly Democratic Rally, has declared Republicanism the will of the people of Kanjor, and its leader and current Prime Minister Renaud Gaudin has declared the bill a historical victory for the Kanjor's people.
However the Act has seen a large amount of opposition and criticism both within his own party and within the wider Federation itself and amongst Canrillaise monarchists in particular. King Norbert of Noumonde has attacked his own parliament due to their support of the Kanjor government, and many prominent politicians in Lourenne have also criticised the move.
In an exclusive interview with the Prime Minister, the Federal Journal asked him why he supports a bill which has split the Canrillaise Nationalist movement.

It is this government's position that the democratic will of the people must have influence not only on the legislature but on the executive function of government; the majority of electorate agree with us. King Norbert's attempt at influencing his own Parliament to cut ties to my Party is not only absurd, but it goes against the very meaning of democracy and democratic decision making.

The Act seems to be well on its way to passing in the National Assembly, with new Presidential and Legislative elections planned soon after its implementation. Current speculation on possible candidates for President are sketchy, although it is likely Gaudin himself may run.

SOCIALIST PARTY FORMED, PROCEEDS ON DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST PLATFORM
Democratic Rally And The People's Party Of Renewal Have Merged To Form A New Party
Image

The two major political parties in Kanjor, the Democratic Rally and the People's Party Of Renewal have merged today to form a new, Socialist Party, built on a platform of progressive, republican and democratic socialist policies. Its politicians have vowed to increase government influence in the economy through investment and nationalisation, to implement democratic republican reforms and to root out corruption within business and politics.
The new party combines both nationalist and socialist trends within Kanjor and is currently the largest party in the National Assembly. Renaud Gaudin, ex-leader of the Democratic Rally, was unanimously elected for Leadership of the new party by members of both parties involved in the merger.
In his election speech, he vowed to change Kanjorien society for the better, and to improve both workers rights and support small to medium size businesses. He also vowed to expand the welfare sector and to bring private monopolies and vital industries under public ownership.

TREATY ON CANRILLAISE UNITY BEGINS RATIFICATION
Treaty Shall Lead To Greater Unity between Canrillaise Nations Economically And Politically

February 4451
Image
Image

A treaty which has been in negotiation for a year concerning the creation of a unified Canrillaise State has begun to be voted on in the National Assembly in Kanjor. The Treaty if universally passed in the legislatures of each Federation member state would create a unified legislature and military and implement a system of free trade and movement of people within Canrille.
The treaty builds on the program and aims of the new Socialist Party and on prior Republican and Nationalist policy. Currently the bill is expected to pass in the Kanjor Assembly and other members of the Federation such as Lourenne and Rildanor are set to begin further ratifications.
The Socialist Party leader and current Prime Minister Gaudin had this to say on the treaty ratification.

GAUDIN: This is a historic day in the history of Kanjor and Canrille. The dream of a united Canrille is firmly within our grasp and I hope that our comrades in the rest of the Federation proceed to join us on this path.

As per the treaty, the Federal Assembly shall have the power to declare war, propose peace and discuss and implement cross Federal treaties. It will also, through an elected Federal President, be able to take part in negotiations with other national entities throughout Terra. The legislature is to be elected proportionally based on the seats held by each party in the respective national legislature. With the ratification of the treaty in Kanjor, the Assemblies first ever party group, the Alliance of the Republican Left, shall be formed, an alliance of the Socialist Party and its allies.

KANJOR MILITARY CARRIES OUT EXERCISE
10,000 Men From All Departments Took Part In Largest Kanjor Military Drill In Decades

10,000 Troops of the Kanjor Armed Forces from the Army, Navy and Airforce took part in a recent military exercise, codenamed Operation Maelstrom, in what is the largest Kanjor exercise of its kind in decades. It involved both live fire and laser orientated missions across 20km of coastal area in La Tondelle.
The Defence Department indicates that the operations main aim was to ensure continued professionalism in the Kanjor Armed Forces and to ensure that the force is both effective and able to respond to internal and external threats both at home and as part of a World Congress task force.
The Operation has been heralded a success by Defence Minister Tania Reverdin who oversaw the proceedings. In an interview with the Federal Journal she said;

The military today has shown itself quite capable in the field. Its departments have shown that they are capable to work in tandem to ensure the effectiveness of the entire armed forces. I am proud of the military's prowess and look forward to continuing this governments mandate to improve our military's capabilities.

When questioned about the military's readiness to integrate with other Canrillaise military's in a united Armed Force, Reverdin said;

The military is ready for all possible events regarding Canrillaise unification, and the Defence Department is currently in negotiation with several other Defence Ministries throughout the Federation as to be the best way to integrate the various armed forces and to ensure they are a modern, professional fighting force which can defend the Federation from all external and internal threats.

STATE PRESIDENT CONDEMNS ALDURIAN FASCISTS, FEDERAL TROOPS SPOTTED IN SEMAILLES
As Another Massacre Is Committed By Aldurian Forces, Gaudin Tells Rousseau, "Stop And Turn Yourself In"

February 4454
Image

With more reports of massacres coming from Alduria, the State President Renaud Gaudin has made an announcement condemning the actions of his neighbor and asking Rousseau to turn himself in to the World Congress tribunal. Alduria has for many decades been under the control of the Nationalist Party, which had ties to fascist groups and organisations, and has since become outwardly fascist under the control of dictator Thomas Rousseau. Although the State governments of Kanjor and Lourenne have been in contact with Alduria's government for sometime negotiating its integration into the Federation of Canrille, the regime has so far rejected all calls by the other Canrillaise territories to end their vicious policies towards the Majatran and Luthori people.
Gaudin, in an emergency press conference said;

GAUDIN: for too long the Aldurian fascist regime has been able to get away with their vile and callous actions, rejecting all calls on part of my government and the Federal Assembly to negotiate an end to their segregationist and genocidal policies. It is undeniable that the present actions committed by the regime may constitute crimes against humanity. Hence I on behalf of the Federal Government ask Rousseau one last time; end your criminal actions and turn yourself in now.

Since Gaudin's announcement, Federal Troops have been spotted in several areas of the Aldurian capital of Semailles, as well as many other areas of Alduria, although they appear to be patrolling the cities streets peacefully, with Aldurian troops within the capital remaining within their barracks. The Aldurian government has so far not commented on the developments.

SPORADIC GUNFIRE IN SEMAILLES AS FEDERAL TROOPS CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR ROUSSEAU
After Commands Made By The Regime In Hiding That Federal Troops Should Be Attacked, Loyalists Have Appear To Have Opened Fire

June 4456
Image
Image

After a year of curfew in the capital of Alduria, Federal Troops have been attacked by what appears to be loyalist paramilitary units in a sporadic series of running battles within the downtown area. The attacks occurred simultaneously to an announcement made by the Regime in Hiding which ordered loyalists to begin forcing Federal soldiers from Alduria.
Soon after the initial intervention by the Federation of Canrille, Rousseau vanished during a raid on the Presidential Palace by Federal officers. He is currently expected to be in hiding somewhere in the outskirts of the city, with the Federal Assembly vowing to ensure his swift capture.
This incident appears to be the first real indication of the state of war which exists between Aldurian loyalists and the Federal Government. No Federal casualties have been reported as of yet but several are reported injured, one seriously. 5 Loyalist gunmen died at the scene, with the rest fading back into the city.
Renaud Gaudin has repeated calls for Rousseau and the remaining regime leaders to surrender to Federal authorities, calling on him to end this "madness and accept his inevitable defeat".
Federal Troops have so far failed to gain World Congress support for the intervention, having requested a warrant for Rousseau's arrest but having been denied any developments to that end. When asked of this failure, Federal Ambassador to the General Assembly Daniel Durand had this to say;

DURAND: Although the Federation continues to have faith in the capacity of the World Congress to mediate conflicts throughout Terra, their speed and decision making has alot to be desired, in this case resulting in further innocent deaths on the hands of the regime. Hence I fully support my government's actions regarding taking the Aldurian matter into their own hands.

FOREIGN MINISTER BOISSIEU CALLS ON NOUMONDE TO IMPLEMENT FULL DEMOCRACY
After Tensions Rise In Power Sharing State, It Is Time For Change And Equality Under Law
Image
Image

With reports of the long standing power sharing agreement in Noumonde breaking down under political pressure from anti-apartheid activists in the country, Kanjori Foreign Minister Boissieu said in an interview with the Federal Journal that it was time for the Nationalist Party and King Norbert to move towards implementing full democracy, with equal democratic rights for the Malgy majority. She said;

BOISSIEU: The current situation in Noumonde is one of rising tensions, tensions which could become something far more dangerous and damaging to the impoverished nation. It is time for the colonial government to end any remaining elements of Apartheid and move towards a true democratic system, with both the Canrillaise minority and Malgy majority living in peace and building towards progress.

At present opposition to the Alliance-Nationalist power sharing agreement appears to be growing as the general populous calls for increased democratic rights for the Malgy, long oppressed and ostracized from political life. Protests are occurring daily, and more radical Malgy nationalist groups are gaining ground in the polls, groups which believe democracy is secondary to Malgy dominance over their long standing oppressors.
Prof. Lazard, Director of Foreign Affairs at the Martois Politics Institute, had this to say on the present situation in Noumonde;

The concern is over the radical elements which are developing on both sides of the present political spectrum. Canrillaise nationalism, especially within the Army, appears to be growing, whilst there appears to be an increase in violent protests organised by radical left and Malgy nationalist groups. Both these developments are beginning to mask talks between the political moderates, such as within the Alliance Party, and threaten to lead to further violence and bloodshed rather than truly lead to peace and development.
