FEDERATION OPENS SECOND FRONT THROUGH NEW ALDURIAN BORDER
Convoys Supported By Close Air Support Crush Border Defense, Move Further Inland

August 4460

Following the establishment of a recent beachhead at Côté D'ouest on the Noumonde mainland, Federal Troops, supported by Federal and Valruzian close support aircraft have crushed border defense along the New Alduria-Noumonde border and have pushed through at several key points, encircling Regime forces and cutting them off from vital supplies from the south.
Federal mechanised infantry convoys, utilising fast moving Recce and APC vehicles and supported by naval and aerial bombardment have seized key road junctions along the coastline. There have been reports of mass surrenders all along the border as Noumonde troops are driven back, the largest being 2000 infantrymen captured at Pointe de Diamant, a major defensive structure captured without a fight following gun and missile attacks by Valruzian aircraft.
Current reports indicate that the armored convoys are now driving a path South, intent on meeting up with Federal forces which landed yesterday. Indications of casualties are still sketchy, but injuries on the Federal side so far appear to be minimal.
Defense Minister Reverdin, answering questions surrounding the current military situation refused to comment;

REVERDIN: Due to the current nature of the conflict and the presence of Federal service personnel in engagements across Noumonde, it would be unwise to reveal any information regarding the location and strength of military units at this time.

The intervention has seen mixed support internationally, with the President of the General Assembly of the World Congress coming out in support for the intervention before being criticised by Selucia and Deltaria for his comments. Istalia has also come out in support of the Humanitarian mission, and their are reports of negotiations occuring between the Federation, Istalia and the WC as to the best possible course of action for ensuring democracy is secured and maintained after the conflict.

DEMOCRACY IN DOVANI
A Progressive Force For A Continent In Turmoil
Image
Image

WITH the present coup by anti-democratic forces in Noumonde, and with the democracy of New Alduria flourishing, discussions of ending the dictatorships of the Dovani continent appear to be high on the minds of many people, most notably the citizens living under these regimes. More and more nations are calling for an end to the neo-colonial governments of the past, and a move towards true democratic rule. This has led to the destabilisation of nations who have long been secure in their conservationist leanings.
Although undoubtedly this rise in the popularity of democracy is a huge positive for Dovani and the whole of Terra, it is important for us to take lessons from the past and the present to ensure that democracy works for the betterment of the people of Dovani, not as a burden that leads to further poverty and exploitation. Democracy as all know needs to be cultivated and cared for, lest democracy return to oligarchy once more.
And hence the current situation in Temania is the perfect testing ground for democratic strategies. Let us focus on the two cases we highlighted earlier, that of Noumonde and New Alduria, two nations with a similar history and similar culture, who have taken very different paths in the pursuit of democracy.
Firstly let us turn to Noumonde, a long time bastion of apartheid and colonialism, which has recently been embroiled in a coup de'tat which has left the country isolated and has led to international condemnation and intervention. Democracy in Noumonde has long been an issue of contention between the vast majority of Malgy and the entrenched Canrillaise emigré minority who for centuries have held undue power and influence over policy decisions.
The long struggle endured by the Malgy has split their democratic movement into various groups, many of which differ so much that it is a marvel they share any similarities at all. Most prominent is the Alliance Party, which with the Canrillaise Nationalist Party had arranged a power-sharing arrangement up to the coup d'etat. A moderate, liberal party, they seeked to mitigate the issue to improve the lives of the Malgy and enable them to influence policy in some way, regardless of how small an influence. They, through pragmatic means, chose political power over what was at the time idealistic; full democratic rights. Many groups however, are far more radical, some consist of hard left dissidents seeking to build a utopia, others are Malgy nationalists hell bent on revenge.
But others are simple farmers, wishing for a better world where they can promote progress and change for their poverty ridden nation. It is the rise of such people which terrified the Canrillaise military elite to coup the power-sharing government.
Now undoubtedly Noumonde is facing troubled times, insurgent Malgy fight Canrillaise police on the streets as the Federal intervention drives head long towards the capital Rennes. However, the situation is also hopeful, change is not far on the horizon. And that is where New Alduria comes in.
New Alduria has long been democratic. Having fought with the Northern Council against the Dovani Union invaders, its capacity for self-reliance and freedom is a shining light in a sea of endless darkness. New Alduria has received investment and bounteous growth due to its government's openness to free trade. Their democracy has empowered them to become a true powerhouse of the region, one where peace, tolerance and freedom take centre stage.
The example New Alduria gives to the protesters of Noumonde is one of great significance in their current struggle, that democracy is hard to achieve, especially in hard times, but ultimately democracy is the only way in which government for the people by the people can truly be created. May this serve as a maxim for the current movement.

SOCIALISTS BECOME LABOUR, GAUDIN VOWS NEW ERA
The Long Standing Socialist Party Has Been Renamed "Parti Travail" While Party Policy Moves Further Left

September 4460
Image

After almost a decade in power in Kanjor, the party which formed the Federation with other like minded parties and which constituted the major part of the Republican Left Group in the Federal Assembly has now been disbanded, replaced by a new party platform full of newer, more radical ideas for improving Kanjor's economy and society. Long standing Party Leader Gaudin, upon announcing the change in party name reasserted;

GAUDIN: Although this change in party policy is radical and new, I must reasure our supporters and members, that the party's undying loyalty to the labour movement still remains without question. We have been and always will be the party of Social Progress, regardless of the name we choose.

Gaudin's comments have come at an interesting time for the party, with the present State Premier Chéron using his position as Federal President to outshine him on the national and international stage. Reports indicating a possible party leadership election brought on by Chéron's nationalist colleagues have so far proven to be just rumours, although Gaudin's political position appears as precarious as ever.
These developments appear to have driven Gaudin's recent left drive in the party, advocating increased worker involvement in the economy and improving trade union laws to give strikers more punch. If Chéron intends to make a move, Gaudin's going to need back up, and the left faction is certainly a group to keep on side.
However, the new political scene in Kanjor also seems to have placed the traditional party of power in a tough position. With the return of the UHD to the political scene, and with centrism on the rise in the form of the new Liberal Party, the historical position of the Socialists has been brought into question.
Hence the new move away from big-tent social-nationalism towards a more left exclusive political position seems more in keeping with the times rather than a surprise move. The Labourites have taken a prominent place as the main left force in the State. Whether this will work to Gaudin's advantage both electorally and in internal party politics, we will have to wait and see.

NOUMONDE REGIME SURRENDERS, PEACEKEEPERS AND CONSTITUTIONAL
ASSEMBLY PLANNED

Federation Troops Take Up Peacekeeping Role, Chéron Set To Meet MLF Leaders

January 4451

Following Blanchard's assassination and the surrender of the Noumonde Regime, Federation forces have taken up a peacekeeping role searching for weapons caches and disarming Noumonde combatants. Valruzian forces have withdrawn, leaving Federal Troops in command of the present campaign. Current reports indicate minimal Federal casualties, although there is still no official tally and Federal troop positions remain classified at this time.
President Chéron has called for a WC intervention to provide humanitarian aid and peacekeepers. He has also proposed the creation of a Constitutional Assembly to draft a new Constitution of a democratic Noumonde. The President intends to travel to the country within the next 2 months in order to participate in negotiations involving the moderate wing of the Nationalist Party and the Malgy Liberation Front, as well as representatives of the monarchy.
The Government of the Federation has via it's ambassador to the World Congress General Assembly requested that peacekeepers and WC agencies should begin plans to enter the country to maintain law and order, ensure the negotiations are not threatened by anti-democratic forces, and most importantly to provide aid and support to the civilian population of Noumonde.

CANRILLE TO ENTER SPACE AGE
Canrillaise Astronautic Administration Founded, To Work With Kazulia In Future Missions

June 4461

President Chéron has announced the founding of the Canrillaise Astronautic Administration the AAC, a joint Federal project which seeks to develop Canrille's scientific and technological development through aeronautic and space research and exploration. The Administration will be part funded by Federal tax revenue but seeks investment from private interests interested in commercial flights.
Current reports are that it will intend to operate alongside already existing space agencies, such as the Kazulian Space Exploration and Exploitation Directorate, and intends to join Kazulia in its current Arcadia Programme. Planned cooperation flights are intended within the next decade.
The Federal President made an announcement at the opening of the new headquarters of the AAC in Lourenne;

It is time that Canrille joins other nations in its pursuit of science and discovery. If we wish to seek progress and development on the ground, we must reach for the stars. Hence I announce the creation of the Canrillaise Astronautic Administration, a Federal Agency which will act in the interest of Canrille and the whole of humanity in order to find out are place in the universe and uncover the greatest secrets of our time.

The Arcadia Programme is the KSEED's main manned space exploration mission. Speculation suggests that Canrillaise astronauts may be taking part in an orbital mission, however this hasn't so far been confirmed.

L'Héraut: UHD Leaves Grand Coalition Government Over Bill's Passage

Image
Political analyst Godefroy Ouvrard explains the actions of the UHD to reporters.

Saint-Claire - The UHD shocked Kanjor by leaving the Grand Coalition after only a few short months. Kanjor is currently in turmoil as the impact of these actions becomes clearer. It seems that the the UHD is setting itself up as the sole opposition party within the country, abandoning its natural allies in the Parti Liberal.

Why is did the UHD leave the Gouvernement? Simply put: the Secular Act of 4467 http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=583593.

Political analyst Godefroy Ouvrard summed up the UHD's actions:
The Grand Coalition was bound to break apart simply along ideological lines but no one expected this to happen so soon after its formation. The Secular Act (initiated by the PL) really pushed UHD over the edge and party leaders felt they had no other choice but to leave. However, it remains to be seen if the UHD can regain a majority or a working plurality within the legislature anytime soon and they may regret not being a player at the governing table.

It remains to be seen what the impact, if any, will be felt within Kanjor and the larger Canrillaise Federation.

New era in Kanjor politics
Image
Press conference with Xavier Durent (Leader of Parti Liberál)

"With the election results, the country will enter a new era. The Senate will have a new majority of Communists and Democratic Socialists, with this PSD breaks the progressive center-left coalition.

A new coalition reform agenda has not yet become official, but we fear that there may be major economic and social structural changes. If these reforms go in an authoritarian direction, then we the liberals will stand up for freedom and democracy, this we promise the people.

We keep a watchful eye on the new government, but for now we will act as a strong opposition."

When asked about PL's co-operation with PSD on local state level Mr.Durent said the following: "Our main focus is to keep extremists away from power. PSD is not extremists, but if they choose to co-operate with extremists, we can do nothing but oppose. So it depends entirely on what the local PSD organizations choose to do."

Recently Elected Consul; "We will never become a tyrannical regime"

Image
PCdC leader and now Consul Gerald Artois makes a statement to the press.

"We are thrilled we were able to receive the majority support," addresses PCdC leader and recently elected Consul Gerald Artois.

"We intend to keep the lives of our citizens protected from both internal corruption and external threat," said Artois. "Unlike various tyrannical regimes that we have seen in our history, it is us who will be the ones serving the interests of Kanjor and it's citizens, not the other way around."

When asked about how the PCdC intends to treat the various other parties in Kanjor, he responded with a friendler attitude than expected by multiple political analysts. "We believe that the Parti Libéral and the PSD have Kanjor's interests in mind, and we are willing to respect them as they will us. We may have differing viewpoints and opinions, but there may be a time where we will have to set these petty differences aside. Not for our own interests, but for our nation's future. Our people's future."

Gerad Artois also added, "Kanjor, as long as the democratic ideals are upheld, will never become a tyrannical regime."

Mister Artois has also claimed to be intent on changing the name of the party and, with some reform, minimalize authoritarianism to the military stances. It has been rumoured he intends to rename the party to a more socialist-based name, but it is uncertain as to when he plans to do this.
