Parti Pragmatique Kanjor's deputy leader, Violaine Roux, speaking on national news about the misgivings of the Union Populaire Democrate.
The deputy leader of the Parti Pragmatique Kanjor today had some strong words for the government, after the PPK's income tax proposal failed to make it through the House. The proposal offered saw all people earning under 25,000 KPR take a large tax cut, with an extension of the free income zone, from 3000, to 5000. Indeed, the only area of people who saw a rise were those who earned between 60-75 thousand KPR, the group of people who the Union Populaire Democrate detest the most.
Yet despite this, the Union Populaire rejected these reforms, not providing any reason why, and continued their policy of isolationism from both the Kanjorien press, and the Kanjorien people. We still have no idea behind the motive for rejecting this bill, and are no closer to finding an answer, as the UPD are as slow and negative as ever when coming to introducing new policy and debating their so-called reforms.
In an interview on national television, Violaine Roux attacked the UPD for not supporting the poor within Kanjor. She pointed to their lack of policy, a favourite platform of the PPK, and in particular the lack of welfare reforms for the poor. She told the channel, "The facts do not lie. In the last ten years just one policy can be said to have truly helped the poor in Kanjor. That was, as I am sure the government have forgotten, the policy of subsidising public transport for low income users.
"It is quite apparent, therefore, that we cannot expect the government to prop up the poor, and this was best shown in their rejection of the tax proposal. It is utterly disgraceful, and they should be ashamed that they are abandoning the most marginal in our society. To those people who have been left for dead by this government, I urge you to raise up your voice. You have the opportunity to vote for change at the next election. Let us not have this oppressive regime continue to undermine our beautiful country."
These further attacks on the Union Populaire Democrate have been even more intensified as the new party, Mouvement Centriste announced its ambition to get involved within Kanjorien politics. Mlle. Roux welcomed the party, and hinted that they would be open to a coalition with the new party should the opportunity arise at the next election: "Certainly, if it means we get rid of the oppressive government that is the UPD, we would happily work with the MC in a coalition. We backed their call recently to introduce more private schools into Kanjor and allow parents to have a choice, and are sure that we will be able to support them on many new proposals in the future."
Violaine Roux ended the interview with a rallying cry to all those who reject the politics of oppression: "This government is a power-hungry, greedy, and ignorant force. I call all the people of Kanjor who want freedom and liberty to reject this poor-hating bureaucratic party and support reform that will see you get more rights, a louder voice, and a better life."
