Japinok passes away, Liberal Coalition Becomes Unity!

Royal Bailiff Jules Japinok, long time leader of the nation and Liberal Coalition passed away last night after fighting against livercancer for months. Japinok was released from his duties indefinately few months ago to concentrate on his healing process, but modern medicine was unable to help our Bailif. Japinok spent his final days among his family. Official State Funeral will be held in the future.

Japinok's death couldn't have come at a worse time for the party, as the reorganizing of the Liberal Coalition was already started a year ago. The name of the new party, Unity!, was revealed six months ago, and Unity! was able to get all the seats in Great Sanhedrin in Early Elections held just few weeks ago.

The heads of the party are now facing a dilemma who to choose as the candidate for the next Bailif to be presented to His Majesty himself. Several names have been mentioned, with Willhuf von Raux, descendant of the crusaders, at the top.

Operation Blood in the Sand begins

Image

The joint military Exercises between Yishelem and Luthori began yesterday in Padrilka. It aims to increase the readiness of the Yishelem Armed Forces to defend the nation from sudden attacks from the south, as well as practice working together with Luthori Forces. Troops are trained to operate against Terroris Guerilla Groups that reside in other nations but come over the border to commit atrocities against the peace loving people of Yishelem.

Yishelem Airforce and Luthori Royal Navy, represented by aircraft carriers HMS Dominator and HMS Thunderer and their escorts, destroyed several Main Battle Tank Dummies close to the Southern Border. Full scale attack of the Yellow Nation, which represents the attacking side of the exercise, was stopped succesfully. Yellow Nation's codename, Parmesanistan, has spawn some question over the potential threrat of Barmenistan, but General Abijah Bracha denied such fears. "Barmenistan is no threat to Yishelem. We could defeat them easily, and they would be fools to stand against our majesty's might. As for the codename, I invented it. I happen to like Parmesan Cheese", he said.

The exercises are going to continue for two weeks. Many reservists are eager to join the active forces in the next few days to refresh their memories and show Yishelem that they can sleep safe.

Rebellion?

Yishelem Forces were called back to the City of Yishelem after the announcement of the forming of the rebel government and their plans to "kick out all Luthori's". Yishelem Times has also found information on the possible atrocities planned by some of the rebels, as they plan to commit genocide on Luthori Population. As a result, all Luthori-born citizens have been called back to Yishelem from all over the country for their own safety. Loyalist Forces have quaranteed their safety for the time being, but the Fascist Rebels may try to attack Yishelem and there are plans to evacuate the civilians into friendly nations.

More on this as the situation evolves...

Yishelem & Beiteynu places third in Majatran Cup!

The National Soccer Team of the Commonwealth beat out the Barmenistani National Team today to win the third place title game at the 2908 Majatran Cup. The final score was Yishelem and Beiteynu - 3, Barmenistan - 1. The mood was jubilant among Beiteynuese, at home and among those present in Selucia for the tournament. The players will remain in Selucia for a few days for celebrations and awards ceremonies before returning home.

The government issued this statement after the victory: "Congratulations to our boys of the National Soccer Team! We applaud their hard work and dedication! It is truly an honor to field a team at this historic first tournament, and even more of an honor to have that team come in third place. The Barmenistani Team played no worse than the Beiteynuese but unfortunately it was not their game to win. We applaud them on their hard work and dedication as well, just as we applaud the rest of the nations and teams on the same virtues. May this great tradition carry over the II Majatran Cup - 2914, which shall be held in the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu."

The 2914 Majatran Cup, officially known as the Majatran Cup II - 2914, will be held in the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu as per the Majatran Cup treaty. Planning for the tournament is already under way, and excitement is high.

June 22, 2911: Former HoS and HoG Theodoros Waltoona dies at age 101

Theodoros Waltoona, twice HoS and once HoG of Yishelem and Beiteynu, died early this morning at his home in Birahteynu at the age of 101. The immediate cause of death seemed to be sudden cardiac death brought on by old age. He is survived by his son Theodoros Yosef Greene Waltoona, his daughter Rachel Sarah Greene Waltoona-Goldstein, their respective spouses and children, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. His wife Sarah Greene Waltoona died fifteen years ago today.

Teodoros Waltoona, Jr. was born on June 17, 2810 in Birahteynu to Kalopian immigrants Irene Chondrogiannis Waltoona and Teodoros Waltoona, Sr. On his eighteenth birthday, he changed his name to Theodoros Waltoona, the name by which he is known now. He was enrolled in Birahteynu Schultzist University in 2829 and graduated in 2832 with a degree in pre-law and a minor in business management. He immediately re-enrolled and graduated in 2837 with a degree in law. During this five-year period of study for a law degree, Theodoros worked as a junior legal consultant for the Beiteynu Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). After obtaining a full degree in law, Theodoros was promoted to senior legal consultant at the BBC. He held the job until 2845, when he quit to start his own company, Waltoona Marketing and Advertisement Consultants, Inc. (WMAC). The company was fairly successful, providing services mostly to political parties and their candidates. Theodoros's work at WMAC for political parties and politicians led to his interest in and eventual entrance into politics.

Theodoros has been interested in politics since childhood, when he would go with his father to see labor union leaders speak. In his free time in college, Theodoros would read political science and history books. His interest in politics became a profession, however, when he re-founded the Bismarckian National Resistance (BNR) in 2851. The BNR, originally founded by Dr. Yosef Ben-Ali in 2758 and dissolved in 2779, was a republican party. It was Theodoros's personal belief that the Luthori-controlled Kingdom of Yishelem was not governed in the best interest of the Beiteynuese people, explaining why he re-founded the BNR. Theodoros sold his company Waltoona Marketing and Advertisement Consultants, Inc. to The Royal Kafuri Company so that he could devote his time to promoting and developing the party. In its first elections since re-foundation, the BNR was fairly successful, gaining 203 out of 500 parliamentary seats.

Theodoros was appointed in 2852 by the legislature of the Kingdom of Yishelem to the position of head of government, a position officially known as the Great Duke Yakov I of Fruskila, and His Representative in the House of Lords. At this time, the BNR and the pro-Luthori and pro-monarchy party Unity! (IA) were the only political parties active in the nation. Considering Unity! "mostly sensible," Theodoros decided to be less adamant and persistent about pushing republicanism in the nation. Granted, the BNR did not abandon its republican ideals, but they were sidelined in favor of collaborating with Unity! in the legislature to get things done and improve the nation. Theodoros served as Yishelem's head of government until 2860.

After the Declaration of the Beiteynuese Republic, Theodoros was elected President of the Republic in 2864 with the support of the other republican parties, the Kahina Group and the Christian Zionist Party. He served in this position until 2879, when he was defeated by Wilhelm Claude Deimore VII. Deimore, of the Loyalist Front (war-time successor party to Unity!), resigned the presidency in January 2882 after his party imploded from factionalism. Theodoros won the special election to fill the office of the presidency in January 2882, serving until August 2882, when he resigned in favor of Mordechai Eliezer, of the Kahina Group. In return for backing Eliezer, the BNR received the position of prime minister, which used to be held by the Kahina Group. Note, however, that this was a friendly agreement to share the power equally between the two parties.

Theodoros is generally accredited as one of the founding fathers of the Beiteynuese Republic, having served as its first and third official presidents, from 2864 to 2879 and from January to August 2882, respectively. The BNR, of which he was then the National Party Chairman, drafted the Declaration of the Beiteynuese Republic in conjunction with the other republican parties. Theodoros was one of three people or organizations (the other two being Prime Minister David Wells, and the National Parliament of Beiteynu) who drafted the ceasefire agreement between the Beiteynuese Republic and the Holy Luthori Empire in 2875. In addition, Theodoros was one of the Beiteynuese Republic's official delegates at the Beiteynu-Luthori Peace Conference held in Pontesi.

After his retirement from politics in 2882, Theodoros re-entered into the world of business. He was offered a position at his former company, Waltoona Marketing and Advertisement Consultants, Inc. The company was bought in April of 2892 by WMAC-Goldstein Holdings and Investments, Corp., co-owned by Theodoros's daughter Rachel Sarah and the BNR, from the Royal Kafuri Company. Theodoros served on the Boards of Directors and was the CFO of both WMAC-Goldstein Holdings and Investments, Corp. and Waltoona Marketing and Advertisement Consultants, Inc. until his death.

Mr. Waltoona's funeral is scheduled for June 25 and will be held at Birahteynu Bet Israel Messianic Synagogue in Birahteynu, where he and his wife were married in 2833. In attendance will be his family, friends, Governor-General and BNR National Party Chairman Aaron Kipat-Hasela, Prime Minister Shiri Goldie, and a few other government officials.

Governor-General Kipat-Hasela has declared June 23 a National Day of Mourning in honor of Theodoros Waltoona.

May 2914: Breaking News

Three venerable parties: the Christian Zionist Party, the DSPB and House of H.E.F. Yišsérles, and the Spider Pig Republic have gone inactive. The Bismarckian National Resistance (BNR) remains the only active party in the Commonwealth. Needless to say, they called for early elections, gaining all possible 500 seats in the Parliament of the Commonwealth. Governor-General Kipat-Hasela was also reelected, running unopposed. The BNR then passed a new cabinet proposal, gaining all cabinet positions. Eric Kaminsky was appointed Prime Minister and Chair of the Parliament.

Using their total majority to their advantage, the BNR has introduced a multitude of bills into the Parliament, most being treaty ratification bills. One significant bill is the BNR Manifesto of 2914, which serves both as the BNR's platform and will spell huge changes in many government policies when passed, all reforms leaning towards more liberal and relaxed views.

Some have expressed their worry that the BNR will, as the only party in the nation, institute some form of dictatorship or totalitarianism. From a common-sense point of view, that seems unlikely; the BNR Manifesto is increasing civil liberties, not decreasing them, and their is no bill to re-form the government (with the exception of a bill to change the official title of the Prime Minister and Chair of the Parliament of the Commonwealth to "Prime Minister and Chair of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu"). As the story develops, we will report it to you.

October 4, 2914: Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Sarah Normenson dies after long illness

Sarah Normenson, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth, died today at her home in Ir Shalom, Tadraki after coming down with a double pneumonia a few months ago. She was 95 years old.

Mrs. Normenson was born on April 23, 2819 in Gan Kofim, Padrilka. Her Hulstrian descendants had fled to Padrilka in the 1700s to escape persecution for their Jewish beliefs. She enrolled at Birahteynu Schultzist University's pre-law program in 2837, the same year that Theodoros Waltoona graduated with his law degree. The two did meet, spurring a friendship that would last until Mr. Waltoona's death three years ago, and that would propel Sarah into politics and diplomacy. Mrs. Normenson graduated from the university in 2841 with a degree in pre-law and, following in Waltoona's footsteps, immediately re-enrolled and graduated with a law degree in 2845. She found work at the Beth Haccherem, Padrilka office of The Royal Kafuri Company as a legal consultant. She married Moishe Ariel, who would later become a lieutenant colonel in the National Army of the Beiteynuese Republic (NABR) and command armor against Luthori forces outside of Yishalem during the Beiteynu-Luthori War, in 2847; they met at university. (Lt. Col. Ariel died in 2901.) They had one daughter together, Sarah Normenson Ariel, in 2850.

Theodoros Waltoona re-founded the Bismarckian National Resistance (BNR) in 2851 and, knowing his friend Sarah's beliefs were compatible with those of the BNR, asked her to join the party as a paid legal consultant. She happily accepted the job offer, working for the party for nearly the rest of her life.

When Theodoros Waltoona was appointed HoG of the Kingdom of Yishelem in 2852, he appointed Sarah Normenson as Ambassador to the Holy Luthori Empire, as she had minored in foreign affairs at university; she served as ambassador until 2860. When the BNR won positions in a cabinet proposal in 2860, Sarah Normenson was given the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs. Throughout the whole Beiteynu-Luthori War and Theodoros Waltoona's first presidency, Sarah Normenson served as foreign affairs minister. After the war ended in 2875, she also served as an on-call representative for cultural issues at the Beiteynu-Luthori Peace Conference. She was Minister of Foreign Affairs until 2880.

After Theodoros Yosef Greene Waltoona's resignation as BNR National Party Chairman in 2882, Sarah was elected party chairman. During her tenure, she implemented the new policy that BNR National Party Chairmen could not serve for more than ten years consecutively. She honored this rule, with Oscar Weinstein being elected party chairman in 2892. To this day, Sarah's rule has been honored. Sarah Normenson retired from politics and diplomacy that same year, 2892, and retired to Ir Shalom, Tadraki, her husband's hometown.

Governor-General Kipat-Hasela has declared October 5 a National Day of Mourning in Honor of Sarah Normenson.

The Christian Zionist Party is reborn

Ir Shalom- After decades of scielence the Christian Zionist Party has reunited to bring a Jewish and Christian right-wing voice to the legislature of the Commonwealth. The party has formed itself as a pro-independance party. With all other needs aside, the party is decicated to the independance of the formerly united Beiteynu. Today at the first meeting of the Christian Zionist Party, the HoS candidate HRH Moses Yisserles. Was quoted as saying, "Violence is not the key, in order to acheive our victory we must fight with our minds and with hard work. It will not be easy but we can do it." At the meeting an independance song was written in the 3 languages of the movement: French, English, and Hebrew. It's called, Stand and Sing of Beiteynu, Proud and Free / Que Dieu bénisse Beiteynu (God Bless Beiteynu) / ביתנו אלוהים יברך (God Bless Beiteynu)

Stand and sing of Beiteynu, proud and free,
Land of work and joy in unity,
Victors in the struggle for the right,
We will won freedom's fight.
All one, strong and free.

Praise be to God,
Praise be, praise be, praise be,
Bless our great nation,
Beiteynu, Beiteynu, Beiteynu.
Land given to us
by our G-d, the G-d of our fathers.
Beiteynu, we praise to thee!
All one, strong and free.

Dieu bénisse le Beiteynu
Bless ses dirigeants
Sagesse, l'unité et la paix
Ce sont nos boucliers
le Beiteynu et les Juifs

Louange à Dieu,
Louange, louange, louange,
Bénis notre grande nation,
Beiteynu, Beiteynu, Beiteynu.
La terre qui nous est donnée
par notre D-eu, le D-eu de nos pères.
Beiteynu, nous louons à toi!
Tout un, fort et libre.

(Translation of Hebrew)

Lord, bless Beiteynu
May her horn rise high up
Hear Thou our prayers And bless us.
