The Skorri Dónaldsson Center for the Performing Arts, venue of the Grænnhöfn International Film FestivalGRÆNNHÖFN, C.U. - We are very close to the realization of the 1st Grænnhöfn International Film Festival, today Telamon and Endralon submitted the films to be presented in the first edition of the Festival.
The films that were presented today to the Organizing Committee of the Festival come from Telamon and Endralon and vary from the type of genre and plot, the Telamon film is The Memorial Project, filmed in 4873, The Memorial Project had a very limited run in the selected cinemas across Telamon in 4874, however with the realization of the GIFF, the film may finally be released in all cinemas both nationally and internationally. The production company of the film, Hrafnbergsson Brothers Pictures, has been in talks with the LGT Group to be its international distributor, while Hrafnbergsson Brothers will distribute the film in Telamon and maintain the rights of the film. Endralon's film is The Colonizer, a historical drama made by the LTG Group. This film will be the official selection of Dr. Ed before the GIFF, the drama was well recieved in Endralon and the producers of the film hope that the film does well in this GIFF edition.
Let's talk a little about the films that were submitted today to the Organizing Committee.
THE MEMORIAL PROJECTPoster for the filmABOUT THE FILM: The Memorial Project (Minningarverkefnið), is Nikolai Alexsson's (creator of the TV series
Guerrilla and
Dagar lífs okkar) sci-fi film. The film was a pretty big success both critically and did very well in the selected cinemas it premiered. It won four Suðureyja Critics' Circle Awards, including Best Picture, however the production company of the film, Hrafnbergsson Brothers Pictures, did not release the film in home video due to being a limited release in Telamon, however Hrafnbergsson Brothers Pictures is hopeful to release the film in all theatres, nationally and internationally, this could imply a possible home video release when the film ends its national and international run.
SYNOPSIS: The plot, according to writer/director Nikolai Alexsson, follows the story of the crew of a spaceship that was sent on a mission to a distant space station, however a rift in the path they were following causes the ship to get lost in another galaxy, causing the crew to look for a way to return to the galaxy they came from.
WHAT DAY WILL THE FILM BE SHOWN AT THE GIFF?: At the moment it is not known when the international public that will attend the GIFF will be able to see this film, however, the Organizing Committee assures that it will be shown on the first day of the festival.
THE COLONIZERPoster for the filmABOUT THE FILM: The Colonizer is the new film of the Endralonian transnational media conglomerate Lievenian Trade Group. This drama-romance epic will represent Endralon on the Grænnhöfn International Film Festival. According to the Endralonian newspaper The Liberal Economist, the home environment of the movie received it really well, and it is already translated to many other languages, especially Kizenian. The historical-romance drama will have a great chance to do well in Telamon. This will be the first time a film by the LTG Group will participate on GIFF.
SYNOPSIS: According to The Liberal Economist, the plot of this Endralonian epic revolves around the 18th century. The grand and mighty Endralonian Empire, finally conquers the entire Middle-Keris throughout its modern and organized military and bureaucracy. The Endralonian Emperor, Rudolf II, destroys every autonomy rights of the Kizenian and New Endralonian population, trying to fight the national feelings there by authoritarianism. The colonies turning into stratocracy, and the largely Endralonian military expected to govern every aspects of society. Janóka, a liberal and poor Endralonian soldier, however, condemns an order that ordered him and his fellows to execute Neculai and his wife Viorela, who were accused with Kizenian nationalism by an influentialNew Endralonian nobleman. Janóka don't kill them, and when his commander, Ferenc found out,they have to escape from the Endralonians, and planning on leaving the Endralonian colonies and entering the Deltarian ones. During their way to the northern coasts, they meeting with Laci and Rebeka, who are brother and sister, and also trying to hide from the wrath of the Empire. The two group of people allying, and by a dramatic final, Rebeka and Janóka fall in love, while they successfully leave New Endralon.
WHAT DAY WILL THE FILM BE SHOWN AT THE GIFF?: Like The Memorial Project, it is not known when the international public that will attend the GIFF will be able to see this film, however, the Organizing Committee assures that it will be shown on the first day of the festival.
Even if more NAOAC members present their films to the committee, they will still have a chance since the festival will be held at the mid-end of the year. It is known that the ticket booking for the festival has been very high and that soon the number of people attending the festival will be known.
