Gustaf Westerwel Announces Resignation; Karl Oberling: This Is My Last Term
Gustaf Westerwel has announced he will be stepping down as Statsminister. In a speech to supporters and the press outside of his office, he broke the news. "I do not want to become a statue, standing guard here at the Församlingen. I will continue to be active in the OA, and will be taking the role of Party Chairman vacated by President Oberling. I support Jan Haling, a loyal member of OA and the Församlingen as my successor."
Karl Oberling also had an announcement, saying that due to his advanced age, he will be resigning as Party Chairman and that he would not seek another term as President. "Two terms is quite enough. We have succeeded, and I am ready to pass the baton to the next generation of leadership."
There is speculation that Gustaf Westerwel may be preparing for a Presidential run.
