New DSPR Chairman Wainwright Lands Prime Ministership after Failed Bid for Presidency, Focuses on Healthcare and Terror Response
Image

William 'Bill' Wainwright, who succeeded former President Arthur Scott as DSPR Chairman two weeks ago, was sworn in as Prime Minister following a coalition deal between the DSPR, CRL, UDPR, and Liberal Parties. Wainwright, a relative unknown until his triumph in the contest to succeed Scott as DSPR Chairman, sought the position of head of government after failing to reach the second round of voting in the presidential election. The result, unusual given the DSPR's successes in recent presidential elections (and in retaining first place in the People's Assembly) was put down to voter's lack of familiarity with Wainwright by figures in the party. The presidency was won by Molly Stonebridge of the CRL, who with backing from the DSPR and Liberals, beat the Whig candidate (backed by the Conservatives and the RDA) by a large margin in the second round of voting.

In a press conference, Wainwright outlined the new government's priorities: 'Our immediate priorities are our response to the terror attack in Bozarland, and the creation of a Health Service, and tax reform.' Pressed on the investigation into the terror incident, Wainright refused to give details, saying that it was too early to speculate. He did, however, take the opportunity to criticise the Whigs' 'point-scoring' over the attack, and their 'attempts to link the attack with the outcome of the election, which they seem to be having some trouble accepting.' The CRL leader and new President, said in her first interview since the election, that ... [continued on page 4]

Winston Vernon looses special election to Molly Stonebridge
56.13% to 43.54%

Winston Vernon delivers concession speech outside at statue of former President 'Duke of Ardinia' Elmer Clark:

It is great that the people of Rutania were given an opportunity to hold free and fair elections without the specter of fear and terrorism lingering in the air. I would like to congratulate President Stonebridge on her victory, the people have spoken. I can only hope and pray that respect for the 'Free Market' principles that has been the bedrock of national policy for decades remain. This election marks an end of an era in Rutania and the beginning of a new one. We must remain united as one nation in order to face the grave threats to our national security such as the terrorist attack that we believe disrupted the last election. Now many on the left have accused the Whigs of calling for second elections as an attempted power grab, I can tell you that is not true. The last election was shrouded in controversy due to the attack and the differing opinion among the winners and losers of the election as to whether another vote should occur, through legislative action the Peoples Assembly decided to hold new elections, none of this was forced by Whig bureaucrats or other individuals. Now is the time to pray and organize to prepare ourselves for 4323's elections; our values, our righteous morality, and our culture and heritage are at stake. Despite the many things that divide us our national security and our armed forces must always unite us.

Francine Kovacs resigns as leader of the UDPR

Following last years election which turned out to be a disaster for the party, the snap election which took place 3 days before the party congress did not brighten the mood within the party. Kovacs also gave the following speech:
After last years election it is clear that after 20 years of leading the party we must have new leader help rebuild the party's strength in Rutania, I may have lost the people's trust but I am sure there are other party members that can. Therefore today is officially my last day as the leader of the UDP as well as Mr Janssen's last day as the Deputy leader. As former President and former Prime Minister Mr Janssen would like to thank everyone in this party for their co-operation. Following extensive polls throughout the party Mr Brayden Bryant is officially the party's new leader and will be working closely with Mr Cattaneo who will be the deputy leader.

The party has decided to change the party's candidate positions in the cabinet, whilst Mr Love and Mr Sanderson are already within the current Rutanian cabinet, Ms Aalto will take over Mr Bryant's former position as the candidate for Foreign Affairs and Mr Power will take over Mr Cattaneo's former position as candidate for finance. Other internal changes within the party have been kept separate from public eye for the time being.

Tri-State Drinking Water unsafe
Image

The Tri-State Water treatment facility which services portions of Southern Ardinia, Northern Khodor and Southwestern Kragusrov has officially announced their drinking water is unsafe for public consumption. Reports began in February of residents saying their water had a brown hue and an odd odor. Test reveal the water is toxic containing dangerous levels of lead and other substances. The director of the facility released a statement to the public informing them to not consume the water and requesting aid of bottled water for the area. The statement then went on to explain that the water quality is a due of much needed overdue repairs and years of inadequate and shoddy repairs, increased funding would be necessary to expedite such matters otherwise residents will need to be resourceful for some time.

Nuclear Development Program a failure

In other news reporters uncovered in January evidence that Rutania's Defense Ministry has failed to even develop a single nuclear weapon. The program has for years been unable to gather the necessary materials, nor develop the proper techniques despite massive investment over time. How reporters came across these files remains a mystery since Ernst Tompkins, the former Prime Minister, sealed all Defense Ministry files as Top Secret and the nations laws still prohibit the releasing of files that could be deemed against the public interest. Reporters are demanding answers from the government.

Lastly on the political front the new government has already fulfilled its campaign promise to pass Health reform with the passage of the Peoples Health Act of 4319 and reforms of pharmaceutical regulation. Tax reform on the other hand the government has been unable to accomplish leaving the question of how they plan to fund the People's Health Act. The government has also embarked on Civil Rights Reform ending a two decades old policy of allowing private institutions to practice segregation, the Whig Party has been particularly outraged by this.

Minister of Internal Affairs Nikolas Love hits back at reporters demanding answers

Mr Love has been seen to be outraged at the reporters who have managed to get hold of defense ministry files and threatens to launch investigations into the media.

I am sorry, but I am outraged with the reporters who have been demanding answers from the government following the failure of the Nuclear Development Failure. I first of all demand to understand how these reporters found these files illegally without any approval from the Government. Whilst there are investigations that will start on the reasoning of the failure after having a lot of investment. I believe it is my personal responsibility to start investigations on our OWN country's media, this is unbelievable. For those innocently trying to find out about the failure, I recommend asking our Minister of Defence within the DSPR.

Whig National Council Chairman Clifford Douglas

Whigs condemn government for lack of leadership

Excerpt from a speech by WNC Chairman Clifford Douglas:

This government is proving to be an absolute disaster and I hope the people of Rutania will reject this experiment in socialism in the next election. The government has yet to address Rutania's infrastructure problem, they have doubled annual deficit spending and utterly failed to pass tax reform due to their rigid refusal to compromise with other parties. They have been very quick to give out trinkets to the people such as offering Healthcare to all but they have turned the nations institutions into a sham and an international joke. There has been no new spending bill to fund the many hand-outs this government has passed. It is utterly unbelievable that this government has managed to double deficit spending without even funding their own programs, the Health and Social Services Ministry is expected to offer Health-care to all with no more funding than they had before this responsibility. Rutanians are suffering from poor drinking water, collapsing bridges nad this government chooses not to act. The government has yet to present the Peoples Assembly with any results from their investigation into the terrorist attack of 4318 and it has been years, they have also done nothing to increase the security of the nation. Furthermore this government has done little to look into the reporters who have clearly violated our national security laws with their inquiries and publishing of Defense Ministry records. Should things continue along this path the Whigs will not hesitate to call for early elections to elect a government that will take action instead of sitting around helping their corrupt union boss allies. I truly believe the people will reject this government at the polls for their rejection of the Free-Market values that have built the Commonwealth the Rutanian people have grown to know.

Regarding the issue with the in-game generated event. It is to the players discretion whether or not they choose to accept them into their roleplay, I believe it adds a fun randomised element to the game and can make things a bit more intresting eg.things dont always go perfect... However you should seek out the approval of the user whose characters the event effects before posting the news article.

Hope this helps.

With the Campaigning season in full swing, Ludwick Anderson a well know name acts the nation as the long time Co-Lead of the Rutania Party announce his later entry bid for the Presidency. His plate form being to push forward again the topic of Constitutional Reform in addition to the daring wagering his future political career on this election.

The whole of the Rutania Party seems to be making a big push this election seemingly tryin to capitalise on the resent collapse of the Conservatives. This is most apartment in the city of Port Seaborg where the Rutania Party shall be running Denis McGuire as there mayoral candidate. With there main competition gone in the city they look to be a sure win across the bored.

Ernst Tompkins delivers defiant concession speech after loosing July 4327 Elections

I would like to formally concede to President Molly Stonebridge and congratulate her for her election victory. Despite this concession and the Right-wings third election loss in a row I am here to let the government know that we will not stand for being steamrolled. The last 8 years I have watched the Commonwealth begin a slow but sure change from that land that I grew up in, we have come a long way from the days of President Frank Bennett. The Whig Party will continue to stand against miscegenation, vulgarity, and communism in Rutania. We shall continue and never falter in our moral crusade to save this great nation. Lastly I have a message to all those voters from other parties that supported me in the election,
your support did not go unnoticed and it shall not be forgotten. Our collective adherence to Free Market Values is what built this nation and is the only thing that can save it. The left seeks only to further a communist agenda, this is reflected by the quickness to dump the UDPR following the election, an obvious move against the UDPR due to the UDPR's historical defense of Free Market Values. While we may not be able to lead in policy making we should do everything in our power to lead on the Foreign Affairs front.
