Dec. 17th 4272
Royce Blood, former Prime Minister and current leader of the Grand Conservative Union, spoke out today after months of mounting criticism over last years 'million man march' that turned into a violent and angry near riot that finished off with a public burning of liberal literature, films, and art.
After the protest President Rivers spoke to the nation calling the belligerent actions of the violent protesters 'disgusting' and then offered a stern warning to the Grand Conservative Union. Journalist haven't been able to get a statement from any politician within the GCU for an entire year. The controversy has only increased the already starkly divided Peoples Assembly with the DSPR now attempting to remove the GCU leaders from the Peoples Assembly http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=537362. When asked over the past year GCU spokesmen have only replied that
the party is focusing on moving Rutania forward and enacting Conservative reforms to better the people and the economy.
Mr. Blood made the following statement that was played live on radio stations and TV stations throughout the nation:
I am here to speak today about the events that unfolded one year ago today here in Vanderburg tens of thousands of concerned citizens showed up to make their voices heard to the administration of President Rivers and to the Socialist political elite that have controlled the halls of government for so long.
I myself was here and happily greeted many fine patriots that day. We were all here to protest and take action to stop the Banking Nationalization Act and other radical legislation that was being pushed by the President and the Socialist political elite. The legislation we opposed so vehemently did not pass and I'd like to believe that is due to the Patriots who were here that day making their voices heard.
Things did take a dark turn that afternoon however when outside agitators showed up and provoked chaos at the gathering. From there things went downhill further with fights and violence spreading like wildfire due to provocations on many sides. I would like to personally condemn the violence acts committed by anyone that day. The Grand Conservative Union in no way endorses nor approves of such tactics. The Socialist Political Elite now seek to use that day a year ago as a political weapon attempting to demonize myself and the GCU and the many great Patriots who showed up that day, we wont let them repaint history this way, the violence that occurred was not the fault of the protesters but instead it was the fault of agitators on many sides.
The Socialist Political Elite think that they have us cornered but their tactics only shine light on their on corruption and false ideas. The Banking Nationalization Act did more to organize our party and motivate people to the conservative cause than anything we could have ever done on our own. I've been speaking with business leaders across the nation who feel threatened by the Socialist political elite and want something done. The amount of small and large donations we have received at the GCU is more than 5 times anything we have ever received so far in advance of an election, I know that the corporate community is with us, I know the little man is with us, I know the Hosnians are with us.
To close I ask you, the noble people of Rutania, to stand with us and not fall victim to the circus the Socialist Political Elite want you to pay attention to. Stand with us and we shall break the shackles of Socialism, we shall break the bonds of Big Government, we shall deliver freedom.
The timing of Mr. Blood's speech is clearly political, choosing to wait till the one year anniversary to make this speech surely will gather more publicity. Also with a little over a year to go till the election Mr. Blood and the GCU seem to be using this as the beginning of their election campaign. During his speech Mr. Blood spoke about the support of the corporate community. There has been a lot of commotion regarding this, laissez-faire economist made some pretty dire predictions about where the economy will go should the DSPR's policies be fully implemented and corporate leaders did listen. Many speculate that the GCU will push economic issues more to maintain the powerful support of the the corporate sector, if they do one can only assume the corporate community will continue to back the GCU since the administration seems to be the outright enemy of corporate reform and an ally of extreme socialism.
