The President About the Situation in Hobrazia

President Lord Klausenburg is making an emergency press conference:

We are getting worrying news from Hobrazia. Two Nova Terra parties have overtaken the government and started to use force against the people of Hobrazia.
Rutania firmly condems the actions of the new goverment and does not recognize it as a legitimate government of Hobrazia. I have to declare that Nova Terra is commiting crimes against humanity. Rutania supports the First Party of Hobrazia and wishes all the best. I know, these wishes are not enough. I intednt to consult Defence Minister, Mr. Cooper about sending an armed unit in Hobrazia to support the anti-NovaTerra forces. However we do not want to intevene in a civil war, but as the venerable Winston Churchill said: One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.
I will inform you about the news on this serious and tragic issue.

Nova Terran parties seem to be the people's choice, so intervention to stop or at least limit their legislative power would mean attacking upon the ideals of democracy and peace, and each individual's right to political freedom. Stand down and be patient.

News about the situation in Hobrazia

The Speaker of the Presidential Office, Andreas Marinuzzi:

The situation in Hobrazia did not change substantially. President Lord Klausenburg conducted a short dialogue through telephone with Dominic Neesam, the leader of the First Party, which engaged in opposition to the Nova Terra dictatorship. The call was short because the ruling parties are controlling the lines and interruped the discussion after a few minutes. Mr. Neesam said that they are organizing internal support for their movement and thanked the quick reaction of Rutania. He also said that military aid would be futile at the moment, while the internal resistance is not organized enough. However he expressed his view that Rutania should put an elite unit on standby.

The situation in Hobrazia is going to be discussed during the extraordinary session of the UNT Security Council. Rutania will advocate for a firm reaction from the part of the UNT.
I am going to recome with information on the crisis situation.

"

Pierre LeBon, Minister of Foreign Affairs declared that this resolution can be revised and should be revised, but the new Hobrazian government must fulfill certain requirements in order to obtain recognision from the part of Rutania.

Former Rutanian Politician Buys Football Club

A former prominent member of the Federal Parliament for Orange Party, William Durden Jr., son of the party founder and current CEO of Bozarburg Solutions, has recently acquired a 90% share of Port Nelson F.C. Port Nelson are currently contenders for the Rutanian Cup and runners-up for the Rutanian Premiership, but with their new found wealth should find success soon. Durden has told club manager Roy Jorgenson that over 30mil Rutas will be available during the January transfer window. Big names, including Rutania's leading scorer, Todd Jackson, have been linked.

Vice-Presidential Nomination

After the Federal Parliament accepted with unanimity the bill establishing the office of Vice-President, President Lord Klausenburg (picture) nominated Mrs. Kelly Brogan, leader of the Orange Party in the office of Vice-President for Rutania.

Political analists say that the creation of this office was necessary because of the increased international activity of Rutania. They also predict that the Klausenburg-Brogan tandem will work excellently together.

Tomorrow, Mrs. Brogan will take part in the official ceremonies of inauguration in Port Nelson.

Interview with Veronica Mayday, the Ambassador of Rutania to the UNT
Image

RNN: Ms. Mayday, the RNN is honoured that you afforded your valuable time to discuss with us.

V.M.: It is a pleasure for me!

RNN: Ms. Mayday, you surprised the whole international public with your outstanding performances in the meetings of the UNT General Assembly and Security Council. How would you evaluate your activity?

V.M.: Well, I do not think that I have done anything special... The decision-makingmechanism of the UNT are extremely complicated and require an enomous willingness to make compromises. This might be the reason why the population considers our activity useless. But I can assure that there are happening events of crucial importance. And I firmly believe that Rutania must have a role in this entire process.

RNN: What are the major strategic objectives of Rutania?

V.M.: I hope, everybody will understand that I can give only a limited ammount of information. But, I can say that our main goal is to ensure that all the people of Terra live in complete freedom. And I have to confess that the people of Rutania have a very favourable situation in this respect.

RNN: Do you think that being a small state Rutania has only a limited influence on the international arena?

V.M.: The diplomatic potential of a country is not always determined by its size. I see that we participate in the making of political decisions at the highest level. Of course, the larger and richer states have larger influence, but that is a normal situation. The idea of the equality of all states is a stupidity. Let us imagine a situation. There are four states on a planet an one of them has 80% of the planet's population and produces 90% of the planet's wealth. According the principle of the equality of states, the other three states can force every decision in an organization. That would be insane.

RNN: Oh, you are right, I haven't thought about this aspect. What do you consider as being the largest threat to Terra?

V.M.: I suppose, you know my answer: Nova Terra. It is appaling how imoral, unethical and malicious this organization is. And by usurping the power in the Hobrazia, they have a huge influence in the UNT. Yet, I hope that they cannot commit such crimes that they ahve comitted in the past.

RNN: Are you informed about the domestic politics in Rutania?

V.M.: Of course, I always keep an eye on Rutania, I really like my country. I think that the situation is quite okay. I mean, I observed that some years ago the political scene was much safer. Nowadays there is agitation, and I don't think that means something good.

RNN: Has Rutania close friend in the UNT?

V.M.: We try to maintain friendly relationship with all the countries. Nevetheless, our closest ally is Lodamun. And recently Aloria also proves to be a reliable partner. The former Alorian government was pretty reluctant to strenghten our relationship of neighbourhood. The new government however is more pragmatic in this respect as well.

RNN: Well, Ms. Mayday, I thank you, I believe this was a most interesting interview I've ever made.

V.M.: You are welcome. I thank for the opportunity to be the subject of this interview.

Lord Klausenburg announces his retirement

Yesterday, at the Conference of the Republican Elitist Party in Hayek, President Lord Klausenburg announced his retirement:
"Ladies and Gentlemen,
My dream came true, because I have started my tenth mandate. It was an honour and a pleasure to serve the party and Rutania, but my time is over. Thus I resign from my office as Chairman of the REP and I will not run for the next presidential elections."

The Congress changed the regulation of the party, transforming the office of chairman into the office of party president. It also elected the new President of the Party, namely Victoria von Bruckenthal. Eleanor Bozarburg was elected as the new Vice-President of the party.

The RNN asked Lord Klausenburg, who his successor as Head of the State would be. He answered that the new candidate of the CLCR would come from the Orange Party, but the OP have not decided yet on the person of the candidate.

Rutanian Heritage Party MP Found Dead

Rutanian Heritage Party Minister Derk Van Khoute was found dead in his apartment yesterday, in what police suspect to have been a politically-motivated killing.
"All of the evidence seems to point to that (a political killing) at the moment...", said police officer John Kerrigan, "I understand that Mr. Khoute was a particularly controversial figure - someone who was very unpopular, particularly among university stundents and the various left-wing groups".
It is suspected that the killing may have been a retaliation to comments Mr. Khoute made recently in an interview on the breakfast show 'Rutania Today', in which he described homosexuality as a 'subversive lifestyle', implied that AIDS was a purely homosexual phenomenon, and claimed that AIDS sufferers should be "segregated from the rest of society...to avoid the spread of this plague".
Among other highly contentious statements, Mr. Khoute also remarked that "feminism has done nothing to help women and their role in society...in fact, women are worse off now than before the entire women's rights movement...before that, women stayed home, looked after the house and raised the kids...there was nothing wrong with that and there still isn't".
Police investigations are still underway, but a man named Stephen LeMark is being questioned as a prime suspect in the murder. The 24 year-old is a prominent member of the 'Socialist Alliance', a group who have been particularly vocal in their opposition to the Rutanian Heritage Party for several years, and staged protests outside the Channel 7 headquarters on the morning that Mr. Khoute was interviewed.
Rutanian Heritage Party president Scott Wesley addressed the issue in a press conference earlier thismorning, stating "this is a tragic loss to Derk's family and to the party. Derk will be sorely missed...he was a great politician and a great friend of mine, may God rest his soul.
"We will not rest until the spineless, leftist rat who did this is punished to the full extent of the law".
