Kazulian Crown Prince visits Kalistan on behalf of the royal family, aiming to 'promote peace and mediation'

Crown Prince Arvid II of Kazulia arrived in Kaliburg this week, following a request from the Foreign Ministry to calm tensions between Kalistan and his country. Issues arose as a result of the controversial activities of the Human Rights Foundation, which included the Kingdom on its 'blacklist'. In response, Jean-Baptiste Fabian, the Kalistani Foreign Minister, has organised the visit of His Royal Highness to reaffirm that there is no hostility in the relationship between the two nations.

As part of the trip, the Crown Prince witnessed a display from the 'Kalistani Daggers' aerobatics display team and was given a tour of the newest vessel in the Kalistani Navy's fleet Libertad, purchased from the Leonardi Industrial Group by former Defence Minister Temple Pisani. Yesterday, he was introduced to Secretary-General of the Human Rights Foundation (and arguably the source of current controversy) Sophia Conti. Though the exact details of their conversations have been kept entirely private, the exchanges are said to have been respectful.

For the remainder of the trip, His Royal Highness will leave Ananto and travel to the mainland where he will attend a variety of different events, witnessing the traditional Kalistani sport, demolition derby, and speaking to industrial leaders such as KALNAFERCO Chief Executive Officer Amaya Del Olmo. Both sides have agreed that no diplomatic discussions or negotiations should take pace between the Crown Prince and the Kalistani government, though the Foreign Minister stated that he 'expects relations to return to normal'. He will return to Kazulia on Friday.

Kalistan Radicalized, watch out Leftist!
Image
Today "Leader" of the Kalistan Radical Front, Randall Ross has a new title he is know known as the "Emperor" of the KRF. In a party meeting cheers of "All Hail Emperor Ross!" rocked the arena. We talked to a supporter of the KRF about why she believes in Ross so strongly she said this: "Emperor Ross was sent here by Elijah himself nobody can mess with Ross! He is the one who will guide us and he is the one true leader of Kalistan! All hail Emperor Ross!" In other news Randall Ross made this press release today: "I know that the other parties are weak, but it is time for us to stand up.. as your leader my soilders I want you to go get a gun.. go shoot and fight every Leftist you see! We hate leftist and want them to burn in hell! Send them to their graves! Hail Ross" and not only that but all KFR members now have uniforms to wear on a daily basis! Everyone should head the warning.

KWLA to swell in size in order to protect innocent civilians

New Kalistani Workers Liberation Army recruits, displaying improvised equipment

The Kalistani Workers Liberation Army has announced it will increase it's number eight-fold, to one-hundred-and-twenty-thousand, by the end of next year, in an attempt to protect the lives of the terrorist Kalistan Radical Front and their rogue leader Randell Ross. When combined with the Emergency Powers Act, the Labour Party hope the move will restore law and order following several high-profile attacks on members of the governing parties. Initial terror has now receded, as the KWLA took to patrolling the streets in most cities and the individuals responsible were sent to the Kings Rock facility. However, a high degree of fear still permeates throughout the population- not least because elections are due in less than two years time.

President Franklin Foster has called on non-KRF parties to rally behind him and put the future peace of our nation above party politics and the Populist Environmental Party have already said they will support the incumbent President. In a short statement, he vowed that Ross 'would pay dearly for his actions'. Foreign Minister and Labour Party leader Jean-Baptiste Fabian has already tabled motions to ban Ross from public office and outlaw the Kalistan Radical Front although it is currently unclear whether these will pass or not. What is clear is that the current violence is unlikely to end soon...

ROSS ASSASINATED
Controversial former President and KRF leader shot dead before event in Kaliburg

Kaliburg, Ananto
December 14th, 4133

Image
Randell Ross pictured minutes before his assassination in Kaliburg

Yesterday afternoon, while preparing for a party rally in the capital, Kalistan Radical Front leader and three-time President of the Republic Randell Ross was shot multiple times by an as-yet-unnamed gunman. Ross was pronounced dead at the scene and the gunman was also killed, by KRF officials accompanying their leader- who were later taken in for questioning. Ross' assassination is the latest in a series of violent events, arguably precipitated by the former President himself. Several left-wing individuals have been killed in recent months, supposedly by members of the Kalistan Radical Front and the Kalistani Workers Liberation Army had mobilised to restore order to the streets. Whether Ross' death will bring an end to the brutality is a matter for speculation.

Current President Franklin Foster issued a statement saying that 'while Mr Ross was an entirely reprehensible individual, who had blood on his own hands, more death and violence was beneficial to nobody'. Additionally, he called upon the Kalistan Radical Front to 'seriously consider its direction from now on and acknowledge that they have created a toxic political atmosphere, which should be eliminated as soon as possible'. In contrast, the KRF stated that they were 'very, very upset'.

Questions will now be asked about how the current political climate was able to develop. The rise of the Kalistan Radical Front, as well as the Conservative and (now defunct) Libertarian parties, surely had an impact but such parties have experienced support before without triggering such barbarity on the streets. If a similar escalation is to be prevented in future, serious critiques of Kalistan's political system must be forthcoming.

President Foster pushing for re-election as a safe pair of hands for the nation

Labour Party campaign material targetted at postal voters

President Franklin Foster of the Labour Party has officially launched his campaign for re-election. As an incumbent President, he faced no challenge for the Labour Party's nomination and many of the left-wing parties have stated they will also support him. Foster hopes to pitch the campaign as a clash between his experience and good temperament and the unpredictable horror of the Kalistan Terror Group. Although it is currently unclear whether the Conservative Party will contest, the President is believed to have approached them for an official endorsement. Towards the end of last month, he proposed a fresh cabinet in an attempt to stamp out in-fighting between the Defence and Foreign Ministers.

According to a close aide to the Labour General Secretary Jean-Baptiste Fabian, the party is focusing its efforts almost exclusively on the Presidential election and allowing its allies to fight for the National Assembly. By fastidiously concentrating their rhetoric against the fascists, Labour hope they can maximise Foster's margin of victory without damaging the polling numbers of the other left-wing parties. Additionally, there is an optimism within the party following the dissolution of the Libertarians and Social Democrats. Some even believe they can push the Kalistan Terror Group below the one-third of National Assembly seats required to block treaty ratification bills and, crucially, the Ending Political Violence bill-designating them as a terrorist organisation.

Lastly, as Oscar Machado prepares to step down from his role as Kalistani Ambassador to the Security Council, some in the Labour Party want him to return to domestic politics. While he resigned from the party to remain apolitical in his duties, it is said that he retains a healthy relationship with both President Foster and Foreign Minister Fabian. Should he decide to re-enter the political arena, his work as ambassador would likely ensure he is well-respected by many across Kalistan.

New Face of Terror
Who is the new leader of the KTG?

Image
New leader of the KTG, Owen Whitfield

This man, former Premier Owen Whitfield is the new leader of the KTG. Whitfield has been well noted for his more calm behavior than Ross but his views are more extreme. Whitfield has made multiple racist remarks, supports slavery, military as police, and more scary views. Whitfield was chosen after an emergency board meeting with the chairman calling him "2nd only to our everlasting leader Randall Ross.' When meeting with reporters he said this, "I am proud to lead us, hopefully today starts a reset with relations with other parties in Kalistan, and to show this we will be changing our name to One Kalistan. And I'm going to start by saying one thing, I admit that we have facist views, heck you can call us a facist party.. but give us a chance."

Drug Research Set to Continue in Next Tenure
Tina Sconelli Plans for a Second Term in the Cabinet
Kaliburg, Ananto
June 6th, 4134

By: Kal Groggi

Since her inception as Minister for Science and Technology, Tina Sconelli has pushed for more drug research. Alongside her friend, colleague, and Minister of Food and Agriculture, Norbert Madison, Sconelli has been processing the possibility of a new drug. Though still being analyzed for plausibility, Sconelli announced recently her plans to formulate a drug directly from air. She has been nominated to serve on the Cabinet again by President Foster. While Minister Madison is still in charge of policy on food and agriculture, Sconelli plans to include him in her objective of creating a new drug. After the next Cabinet is introduced, Madison may find a new position under Sconelli.

Tina Sconelli and Norbert Madison, Ministers in the Cabinet, consider the possibility of a new drug

Already, Tina Sconelli has conducted research on preexisting drugs, slightly modifying their components to form stronger bonds. Sconelli's new drug would be called the "Life Drug" since it is created directly from the thing we all need to breath: oxygen. The actual prospects of being successful are unknown, but Sconelli is hopeful:

In the Ministry of Science and Technology, we have to experiment. We have to fail. Science is called success; it's called science because failures occur. We learn. We evolve. Even if this project fails, it will succeed because we learned from our errors. Discovering new facts about our world is key to ensuring we keep it for generations to come.

The People's Press
Campaigner. Diplomat. President?
Oscar Machado confirms persistent rumours that he will run for the Presidency in 4138

Kaliburg, Ananto
June 2nd 4136

Image
Oscar Machado speaks to a room full of Labour Party supporters

With two years still to go before the next general elections, former Kalistani Ambassador to the World Congress Security Council Oscar Machado has publically announced he will run for the office of President of the Republic in May 4138. Incumbent President Franklin Foster had said he wouldn't pursue a third term last week instead seeking a seat representing the Labour Party in the National Assembly. As a result, it is expected that Labour's Party Congress will approve Machado's nomination without a primary- unlike for the 4132 Presidential elections when Foster had to fight off the challenge of four other candidates. For a number of years now, the party leadership had been pleading with Machado to run on their ticket- believing his appeal to be more widespread due to his diplomatic work.

Already, General Secretary Jean-Baptiste Fabian has issued his endorsement of Machado, who recently returned from a tour of Seleya. With the Kalistan Radical Front as influential and dangerous as ever, Machado will begin meeting with the leaders of the other major parties in order to safeguard their endorsements next month. Prior to his announcement, some thought that Labour would consider not running a candidate in this race and endorse another party, as they did with Hans Persson of the Social Democratic Party towards the end of the last decade. Even without such a deal, Machado would no doubt look to include the likes of the Populist Environmental Party and the Peoples Party in a potential cabinet. As an experienced 'deal-cutter', he may even approach the Conservative Party.

Foster's Presidency was marked by the most violent political atmosphere Kalistan has seen in decades as well as the introduction of Presidential Medals (of Honour and of Freedom). Inevitably, then, some have accused him of overstepping the boundaries of his authority. Machado (incidentally one of the first individuals to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom) is reported to favour a more hands-off role, seeing the Presidency as a ceremonial role more than an executive one. With Kalistan in a continued process of increasing its international standing, his primary responsibility would be to pursue Kalistani interests abroad.

Update on Drug Research
Tina Sconelli issues report after two years
Kaliburg, Ananto
June 20th, 4136

By: Kal Groggi

Tina Sconelli, Minister of Science and Technology, has issued a 128-page report detailing her investigation into the development of the "Life Drug." Despite her enthusiasm, Sconelli has wound up at a dead end. While she obviously was disappointed with the results, Sconelli remained optimistic for the future. She said this in an email correspondence:

The future holds much more than we can imagine. Yes, my department was unable to make a break through in finding the Life Drug, but it may still be out there. In the decades to come, technology will advance and somebody may figure out how to make this feasible. For now, we move to another venture.

This next venture will be the testing of space suits and oxygen containers for possible space exploration.

Recently, we've been in discussion with the Hutori about a mutual space station. And while this is still a discussion, I would like to begin researching equipment we can use to protect our space agents and discover more of the universe.

Sconelli's deputy on the new endeavor is Norbert Madison, whom she worked with previously in regards to her "Life Drug" search. This reporter notices a close connection between the two as they progress further for Kalistan and each other.
