KNN News: Socialist Party of Kalistan's Paper Releases Statement: Militia Forces Take Control of Party from Moderates

News Update: Special Session ends poorly for moderates
The Socialist Party of Kalistan has been put on hiatus, for an undefined period of time. After events of late last year, where an angry mob of SPoK partisans descended on SPoK headquarters demanding alteration of Socialist Policy, the moderate socialist movement was dealt another blow as militants ousted the Socialist leadership, representing a firm break with the policy of accommodation with the right.
It all started when SP leaders called an emergency convention to try to reconcile differences with militant factions of the Party who had been responsible for damage to SPoK headquarters. The meeting began on schedule at nine am yesterday morning the 1st of March, and was held at the Convention Center attached to SPoK Headquarters in Kaliburg. When the meeting was called to order, it was realized that none of the militants had showed up, and the room was packed with supporters of the more moderate line, numbering approximately 100 delegates as well as the entire shadow cabinet of the Party. Motions were made to reach out to the militia (RSMoK), from whose ranks it was believed that protests of last year arose.
Shortly after 9:30, it was announced that the Right-Left coalition government had fallen, and the LPL now had the Premiership. A silence fell over the room, and all of a sudden, the sound of a military parade going on outside filled the hall. At first, the delegates seemed worried that the fascists had come to round them up, but then it was realized that the songs being played were Socialist marching songs, not songs of the right. The dais tried, in vain to regain order.
Delegates were jolted once more when the doors were kicked open and the same young bearded individual wearing the RSMoK uniform walked in. Two uniformed and armed militia members followed him in as he took the podium. The man announced that his name was Corporal FW Bennots, and the militia had arrived to participate in the discussion. He counted the number of representatives in the room and then whispered something to one of the members of his staff, who left and returned with approximately 600 uniformed militia members, who took up all available seating, then stood along the walls, in the aisles, and around the podium. There was no comment from the Party leadership, who sat dejectedly at their seats. It was as if everyone knew what was going to happen, and nobody desired to oppose it.
Once the room was filled past capacity, Corporal Bennots began conducting the session. His first order of business was to remove the entire leadership, and establish a shadow cabinet made entirely of Militia ranked individuals. Interestingly enough, there were only two officers named to posts. This number was balanced by two non-rate Lance Corporals. All other posts were manned by a young cohort of Non-Commissioned Officers of ranks Corporal and Sergent. Later calculation reveals the average age of members of the new Shadow Cabinet to be 21. For all nominations, there were 600 yes votes, and zero no votes, with about 110 abstentions.
Cpl Bennots' next actions were to declare the SPoK replaced in all offices and organs by the Kalistani People's Revolutionary Front (KPRF). Bennots held open the door, however to eventual return to SPoK organization when he declared that KPRF is the militant organization of the Socialist Party of Kalistan. Again, there was overwhelming support for this motion on the floor and no opposition.
Finally Bennots ordered a full mobilization of the militia, and all its related institutions, as well as a recruitment and training drive to put 1% of all SPoK voters, or 480,000 members under arms within 1 year. He announced the organization of 3 more corps of Artillery, 4 corps of Infantry, developed along similar lines as the basic Artillery Corps, and 2 Support divisions. All 48 million supporters of the old Socialist Party were called upon to maintain their personal firearms and keep them ready in preparation for the defense of Kalistani Socialism from the forward movement of fascism, and the Socialist auxillary to the organs of the Revolutionary Freedom Party have also been activated.
Bennots then left the hall, and walked the short distance to Party HQ to announce the results of the Emergency Reconciliation Convention. As he took the balcony, he announced to the crowd of nearly 1 million that had accompanied the militia into the heart of downtown Kaliburg that the moderate Socialist movement is history, and if the Socialists would not be driven to return to their revolution by necessity, they would be returned to that road by force. "The Socialist Movement is not interested in concession any longer. We have seen over just one year 150 years of progress wiped out because democracy is just that fragile. We cannot trust people on the right to have the interests of the people of Kalistan in their minds when they pass legislation that favors business owners over people, that threatens to eliminate things that have been seen as BASIC FREEDOMS for over a century, and who want to establish a dark empire based on nuclear, chemical and biological weaponry. We will donate our blood to fight against this if we need to, but we must not stand for it any more, and we certainly must not help them crush the people of Kalistan under their pro-business, pro-socioeconoic minority boots. Our own Party has betrayed us, sitting in government with the same people who helped get this through, and in fact, who pushed this in the first place. To the moderates in our movement, we say 'NO ACCOMMODATION! NO CONCESSION! FOR KALISTAN, SOCIALISM OR REVOLUTION!' We will not settle for anything less."
With a huge roar that was heard at RSMoK militia camps well outside the capital (who answered back as if they were echoing the crowd in the city), Bennots left the balcony. A party erupted spontaneously, as if the people who were at the demonstration knew it would be a long time before they would be able to party again.
In the meanwhile, ousted Party leaders left the convention hall individually, but all in disgrace. The moderate Party leadership under long time leader Clement thus came to an end, and each retired to their home without comment.
