Evan Fatherson, the new Chairman of the LDP !

Evan Fatherson has emerged victorious from thr LDP Primaries by winning against the two other candidates and gaining over %53 of the vote. He has vowed to continue the principled “Federal Libertarian” stance of the LDP but to also begin softening and cooperating with the other parties in the National Assembly. He will no-doubt be the next Presidential Candidate of the LDP come election time. He is seen as a young, dynamic and positive man who can muster support across-the-aisle.

LDP writes history once again on a major budget/tax reform !

The Liberal Democratic Party has achieved a major Budget and Tax reform this year. After the privatisation bill proposed earlier this year, the government saw a major surplus of tax income in their budget,as per the founding Promise of the LDP to “stop wasting your money and give it back to you”,the LDP proposed a Tax Reform which saw a major cut of 80 Billion to Lower and Middle-class taxes effective immidiately. This is not the first major tax and budget reform of the LDP as the tax system before the LDP was a major bundle which taxed even the people in poverty who even had a “1 penny” income. After the LDP was created cumulatively more then 1 trillion in taxes has been cut and given back to the people, the “1 penny” tax has been completely removed, and the Corporation Tax has also been completely removed. Evan Fatherson has commented on the victory stating:”We will not waste a single hard-earned penny of our citizens”.

Kalistani Daily Worker
UKWF CHAIRMAN HILL DENOUNCES LDP TAX BILL
Interview conducted by Holly Reese
Since the passage of the LDP Income tax bill, UKWF Chairman Joseph Hill has been vocal about his opinions of it. We sat down with him in his home today and interviewed him about his feelings on the Matter

[R]eese: First of all, it’s an honor to meet you Mr. Chairman.
[H]ill: I appreciate you coming meeting me here. (He laughs) It’s a bit crazy down at the office.
[R]: Understandably. I understand you’ve had some... objections... to the LDP Tax Bill?
[H]: That’s an understatement. The way they [the LDP] took advantage of their majority and a barely quorate Assembly to slam a bill through without so much as waiting for the input of the other parties is disgusting.
[R]: How so?
[H]: How is it not? The fact that they were able to do this is a serious defeat of Democracy, and paved the way of an LDP-backed One Party State.
[R]: Do you think the LDP is trying to consolidate power?
[H]: Oh, without a doubt. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that now they know they can get away with it, they’re going to do this again. The question is, what do they target? Welfare? Our already crippled economy? Worker’s Rights?
[R]: Since this is somewhat related, what is your party’s take on the NCP Authoritarian Omnibus?
[H]: (Visibly winces) Please don’t ask me about that. It was a necessary evil they had to commit.
[R]: So the Institutionalist coalition is still intact?
[H]: Very much so.
[R]: Well, thank you once again for doing this interview. (Rises)
[H]: Of course. Any time. (Shakes interviewers hand) Res Publica Delenda Est.

GanJam Scheduled for Next Year
Musicians, Artists, and Businessmen Pitch in to Fund a Ganjam for 4557

Isaiah Billings, Retired Singer Responsible for Organizing the Donors for the 4557 GanJam

"It's been thirty-four years since our Kalistan's last GanJam, and that's too long." These words from retired rock n' roll singer Isaiah Billings were met with thunderous applause and cheering when he announced yesterday during the Bongjing Rock Convention that he and a large group of fellow musicians, artists, and businessmen would be working together to organize and fund a GanJam for next year. This would be the first GanJam since the ODEN sponsored show that garnered much success in 4512.

Numerous diverse and famous music groups and artists have already come out and said that they would either like to participate in this GanJam, or have already had their performances scheduled. Just like last time, ODEN will be sending vendors and "supply" to the GanJam in order to make the event much more enjoyable (And not to mention rake in thousands of rubles in profit). The GanJam will once again be held at the High Bong Forum and tickets will begin to go on sale on June 1st, though the exact date of the event has not yet been announced.

Evan Fatherson elected President of the Republic !

LDP’s Presidential Candidate Evan Fatherson has been elected President of the Republic in a tight-round second round race.
Although the LDP did not get what they expected from the General elections, losing the majority to the NCP,the LDP retained the long-lasting dominance over the Presidency which they had held since 4540 with the first election of the late Sarah Furhat but lost in 4553 because of their failure to put forth a candidate after Jason Kenway resigned. However now they declared victory by regaining the Presidency with Evan Fatherson by defeating the NCP candidate which was the incumbent, with 50,42% of the vote in the second round. Fatherson is now expected to propose a coalition which would muster up a majority in parliament, however sources claim that the President-elect is planning to introduce a grand coalition including all parties currently in the Assembly and get all of the MP’s support.

Audience Applauds Techno Band Electrical Inviction nn Night One of the GanJam

The sky of High Bong was filled with an unusually high amount of good music, cheers, and smoke last week, and no the citizens of Neveras didn't just decide to carouse a little more than usual. This year's GanJam was a smashing success, reaching almost 800,000 attendees during an entire week of merry-making. Many stoned carousers were quoted as to saying three short and simple sentences: "Good music. Good art. Good drugs." This phrase can be used to describe any of Kalistan's previous GanJams, and has come to be an unofficial slogan for the festival, which just goes to show how much entertainment the Kalistani people need in these trying times of political strife.

Unlike most past GanJams, this one hasn't had a set musical theme due to Isaiah Billings' wish to make this a "GanJam for everyone to enjoy. Everyone from cool jazz fans to death metal psychopaths. Everyone needs to forget about life for a while, and sitting at home and masturbating and smoking your pot just doesn't do the magic that a GanJam does." But like previous GanJams, this one has been filled to the brim with political performances and art exhibits, despite the wishes of Billings.

ODEN sales during the unusually long GanJam are reported to be in the tens of millions with an even higher profit, and this is evident in the thousands of discarded needles and roaches as well as the numerous reports of irresponsible drivers and car accidents.

Socialist Metal Band Red Symphony Performing Call of the Revolution on Night Two

Nights One through Four of the GanJam were dominated by socialist rock and metal bands with a liberal pop artisthere and a conservative blues performance there. The real jewel of this year's GanJam was found on Night Three when conservative blues singer and guitarist Garry Heldman performed Song of Kalistan, a song of patriotism and Kalistani pride, with socialist singer Scarlet Way and liberal guitarist Dixon Mason. After their grand performance, the drunk and high audience began a cacophony of singing the national anthem and chanting various party slogans.

Francis Giles, a Crooner from Ananto, Performs Dahriel, Dahriel on Night Six

Nights Five, Six, and Seven is where the real musical diversity set in. Scores of musicians played during these three days, seemingly each with their own genre of music. There was the a cappella group The Harmonic Glory singing Broken, the electro group Glowing Atmosphere performed Fluorescent Dawn, the Vrassa funk group Blueberry Molerats confused and entertained its audience with a drug-induced performance of Private Volcanoes, but the most viewed performance during these three nights (Third in the whole festival) came when a famous Ananto crooner named Francis Giles stole the stage to perform three songs: Dahriel, Dahriel; Lunar Flight, and My Girl. The applause for Giles lasted minutes, and his praise is still being sung throughout Kalistan today.

Soldierly Brotherhood by Gordon Smith Displayed at the Memories of the Civil War Exhibit During the GanJam

The non-musical art exhibitions were lacking this year, with the only exhibit of note being the Memories of the Civil War, an exhibit funded by Kalistan Veterans Society which displayed numerous painting, photographs, and sculptures depicting the Civil War of the 4520s as well as relics from the war.

Isaiah Billings Closing the GanJam with his Most Famous Hit, A Man Like Me

Officially, this GanJam closed with the Yoshimi Boys playing Odufaray Girls, but just as they disappeared off of stage, Isaiah Billings strolled up onto stage and sat down at a piano hidden in the back of the room and said into microphone "I hope nobody minds, but hearing all this music got me into a playing state of mind, so I'm going to come out of retirement for one song." That one song was Billings' most famous, A Man Like Me. The audience sent this surprise performance out with thunderous applause and delight, and this GanJam was ended as the highlight of the decade.

Evan Fatherson re-elected,LDP gains major boost !

The 4559 elections have ended, the results making the Liberal Democrats the happiest party in Kalistan. Evan Fatherson has been re-elected President and the Liberal Democratic Party has gained a majority of 91 seats in the National Assembly. The boost in support for the LDP is targeted by pundits to the stagnant NCP/UKWF coalition after the last elections which also is the issue of an upcoming Constitutional Court Case,in which the President is gearing up to sue the Prime Minister of that government Karl Stirner for breaking the Prerogative and Law of government formation, specifically the failure to include the Presidential Party (LDP) Foreign Affairs Minister in the Cabinet, which is a very strict rule of the Prerogative. In other news a new “Centrist” Party appropriately named Centrist Party, has entered the National Assembly with 39 MP’s. The President Evan Fatherson is expected to form a majority government soon and propose it to the Assembly, sources approve that the President is working on an LDP/NCP coalition which has always been the go-to option for the LDP since first entering the Assembly in 4500.

Premier Stirner Responds in Force to LDP Insults

Earlier this year, the Centrist Party introduced a bill which would reestablish a minimum wage into the debating floor. As usual, a civil debate ensued regarding the merits of this bill, with the NCP in favour and the LDP taking their usual position against any sort of government welfare, however civility failed yesterday after the speaker of the LDP's Deputies responded to an argument given by the NCP speaker by referring to the NCP as "out-of-touch." In response to this rather light insult, Premier Karl Stirner enterred into a tirade about about the histories and policies of the NCP and LDP which we'll include here:

You want to see an out-of-touch party, look in the mirror. The sole mandate of the LDP since it's creation was to attack the workers and the poor while destroying the fabric of our society. The only reason your party exists is to oppress the working class and champion the rich minority. The NCP used to be the economically right wing party, but the LDP is so laissez faire that they make us look like socialists.

Don't lecture us on being "out-of-touch" when the LDP is the most out-of-touch anti common people party that has ever ruled in Kalistan. You know nothing of our history. You care not for the actions of your party upon the people. You destroy and leave conservatives and socialists to pick up the pieces. Your wear your "support" of liberty as a golden crown at every moment possible and rub that support into the faces of your opponents, but whenever given the chance, you go and attempt to prohibit workers from exercising their human rights.

The NCP, along with the socialist parties, on the other hand, have been the last picket fence which stands in the way of your destructive wave. You assisted the New Way party in destroying the economy with hasty privatization, socialists and conservatives worked to fix it and ease the effects upon the people. It was that privatization which dealt a final blow to the effectiveness of the military, but it was socialist and conservative Defense Ministers that built the army back up. It was CAK, RSMoK, and PRG who rose up against the fascist PL regime. What did the LDP and Blue Berets do? They backed the the fascists. It was a socialist President who called for peace, and conservative Deputies who introduced a peace accord to end the civil war while the liberal government scurried around to ensure their amnesty and inclusion in a newly formed cabinet. When the NCP proposed three omnibus under the impression that they wouldn't pass, the LDP went ahead and sacrificed social libertarianism in order to privatize the rest of the economy, which destroyed three important industries and left hundreds of thousands homeless. The NCP quickly worked to right this wrong and introduced their own public relief program and a national relief program with the support of UKWF Deputies while the LDP sat back and laughed at the flames. The only good thing of significance done by the LDP is the fact that they managed to united conservatives and socialists against them.

If you dare label the NCP as out-of-touch despite the history and policies of the LDP, then we'll dare to leave the government. Cooperation between our two parties is done for now. Our ministers will resign, you crawl to the UKWF and Centrist party and beg them for for support, but we're over with.

At first, the nation took this threat of leaving the government as a bluff to scare the LDP and President Fatherson, but we were proven wrong today when the government issued a statement this morning which confirmed that Premier Stirner did in fact resign along with Defense Minister Phoenix Jameson, Health and Social Services Minister Dr. Sequioa Britton, and Science and Technology Minister Dr. Andrew Grissom. The nation and government are still stunned by this action, as no response has been given by any of the other parties and Ministers, the Deputies, or the President. The only people who have released a statement regarding the NCP resignations have come from the reigning Ministers themselves and NCP Director Henrik Mosley.

Statement from Premier Stirner and Ministers Jameson, Britton, and Grissom
We've had enough of the LDP. Their hypocrisy and actions appall us and we're disturbed that we'd even join their government. They need to be replaced, but that can't happen right now, so their going to have to crawl up to the UKWF and Centrists and beg them to work with them. We're done. We're not working with a government that opposes all of our actions and expects us to just sit back and take their hypocritical insults. Good luck LDP. Good luck UKWF. Good luck Centrist Party. We're going to take up the reigns of chief opposition. Res Publica Delenda Est...

Statement from Director Mosley
I one hundred percent support the our resignations from the cabinet. The ice between the NCP and LDP have been thin for a while especially so with the Constitutional Court Case, and we're not going to sit back and take insults from hypocrites without biting back. Perhaps it's for the best, anyway. You can't really have a functional government when the President is suing the Premier in the highest court in the land. The NCP will return to acting as leader of the opposition for now. Res Public Delenda Est...

President Fatherson’s first press conference after Coalition falls

After the un-expected resignation of both the NCP and UKWF Ministers from the Coalition government, the President of the Republic called a special press conference to obviously comment on the events. The President seemed angry but collected and had the following to say:
“What we saw in the recent Parliament discussions and the events that followed have shown the very thin ego that possesses the Politicians and how immature they can be when it suits them. I am very dissapointed that the resigned ministers and problematic politicians have failed to understand the responsibility the people have bestowed upon them or have simply trembled and have been crushed under the weight of that responsibility. I am very saddened that the politicians of today and so-called MP’s of today have failed to reach and uphold the standart created by the politicans of yesterday. I as president will continue to do the best for my country and i will try to ensure a stable future for our country. If you have any questions,go ahead.”
(On the question of a new coalition)
“I cannot say for sure, because it rests upon the Assembly as it does on me,and We saw how unpredictable the National Assembly can be so,can’t guarantee anything on that, but i do want to see a possible more functional and temperamental government”
(On the question of an Early Election)
“I certainly hope it does not come to that and we can fix the issues at hand with cooperation and understanding but again it rests upon the National Assembly and how rational they will be”
“Thank you all for being here,Long live free and prosperous Kalistan”
