ODEN named Coyne and the Robots as new "International Music Ambassadors"
Cites dedication to "positive depiction of psychedelics" in videos

Coyne and the Robots in their video "Hypnotism" new "International Music Ambassadors" for ODEN

In a long anticipated move, ODEN-Kalistan director Gina Olaffson announced last week that the ODEN's new "International Music Ambasadors" are Vrassa City based alt-psyche rockers Coyne and the Robots.

"The band has consistently and positively represented the use of psychedelic drugs in their music and their music videos," said Director Olaffson. "We felt it was time to honor this fantastic band who has done so much to advance our national product."

When the announcement was made, lead singer of the band, John Coyne, was asked about it. "Well, obviously we accept. I mean, I don't have any idea what it means to be an international ambassador of anything, but, to be honest, I'm just glad ODEN brought back real acid. That designer crap was just... I mean... it was garbage. The so-called 'chemists' who made that stuff up ought to be hung. But I got a few more sweet tarts if you want some, friend."

The position of "International Music Ambassadors" comes with a small cash award of 1,000 KRB, as well as an opportunity to tour anywhere in the world on ODEN's dime. "The biggest thing which keeps Kalistani bands from touring overseas is the very steep costs of international music tours," said Olaffson. "There is also very deep-seated prejudice against Kalistani bands overseas. Since Kalistan is the world's primary exporter of music, other nations feel it is in their prerogative to charge Kalistani bands with heavy premiums for the right to play in their nation. ODEN aims to help offset that additional expense, especially if they are abroad promoting ODEN goods at the same time."

Coyne and the Robots will set tour dates within the next few weeks. ODEN nations will be featured first, "...but we also want to go to places which should be friendly to ODEN but for some ridiculous reason, refuse to join," said Coyne. "Hopefully, we can meet with some of their governments and talk to them about how ODEN works, and maybe get some of them to join."

Foreign Minister addresses World Congress resistance to anti-nuke Resolution

Foreign Minister Joaquin Delgado addresses Foreign Policy at Kaliburg Forum

Over the past week, Kaliburg Polytechnic Institute, in Kaliburg hosted the Kalistani Foreign Policy Symposium. The three day event hosted presentations from foreign policy experts from across the political spectrum in Kalistan. The Keynote speaker was the long serving Kalistani Foreign Minister, Joaquin Delgado, from the Socialist Party of Kalistan. Following prepared comments concerning challenges faced in the Foreign Policy arena, the Foreign Minister took questions from the audience.

Below is his keynote speech, which previews a shift in Kalistani policy to a more forward leaning posture in the region.

Good Morning, Comrades, Panel, Dr. Happelton, audience. I appreciate the opportunity to make a few comments concerning the topic of this conference before you.

Assembled here are the lead policy experts from all Parties, career professionals, diplomatic strategists, defence Ministry planners and FM personnel. We can all benefit from each others' expertise as Kalistan appears to shift to a more proactive foreign policy. With our national industries online, as well as ODEN, the NSP and various other governmental programs on the move, we become concerned, once more, about the interference in regional affairs of Great Powers. Part of this concern was addressed last year in the General Assembly of the World Congress, when our nation's ambassador, Louis Stevens, met an unequivocal brick wall concerning its expression of security interest regarding nuclear powered weaponry.

Much of this opposition was sponsored by Great Powers, who jealously guard their own privilege, and virtual license to murder on the world stage. We hear consistently that the weapons they use to maraud around the globe, and threaten smaller states with impunity are actually weapons of peace. Think about this for one moment. A nuclear powered aircraft carrier possesses enough fire power that it can level Kaliburg in a matter of a few moments. And the owner of one of these craft can park this weapon off of our shore, sortie, attack, land, rearm and then relaunch over and over again until there is nothing but dust and bone and human suffering under their bomb sights. And yet, one of the most belligerent nations on the globe calls this weapon of mass destruction a guarantor of peace!

When a man is walking down the street, and a mugger puts a gun in his face and demands his money or his life, the choice is not exactly a free one. When a man is negotiating for his life, he tends to agree more willingly to the terms offered him by the criminal who would murder without batting an eyelash. The difference in the case of the mugger and the imperial gangster states in this world is that in the world, the police can catch the murderer, and prosecute him, while in the international realm, no state possess the power to stand up to a great power.

It would be fine if the Great power shared any of Kalistan's foreign policy objectives. But as history demonstrates, it is more often the case that Kalistan's interests and the interest of the nuclear armed extortionists of the world stand diametrically opposed. Such is the fate of all middle and small powers. The powerful do whatever they wish, the weak suffer whatever they must.

To this end, we have at least gone on record in opposition to the unlimited power of the Imperialist states in Terra, especially those possessing the power AND motivation to breech the peace with their weapons of mass terror. Resolution 35-01, as it is known, was designed to test the true commitment to peace among the nations of the World Congress. Given the vote, it is our judgement that there is ONE nation so far who has come out in favor of nuclear disarmament, and half a dozen or more who have offered full-throated defenses of the right to terrorize the world with nuclear powered weaponry. Their apologies for their desire to reign death and destruction on anyone who gets in the way of their heretofore unimpeded agenda of violence and chaos in the world demonstrates that their real commitment is to the service of the demon who is called "Domination". The resolution was never going to pass, but it was designed to force nations to demonstrate their own hypocrisy, when they order other nations to bow before them while they claim to want peace. They want the peace of absolute global domination, and view it as only a matter of time before they acquire it.

Kalistan is not interested in this sort of peace. We have fully endorsed the Premier's proposal to re-authorize privateering in the Anatonese Ocean. There are currently no plans to issue Letters of Marque, but we agree that it is important to have this authorization in place: Its aim is to put global powers on notice that they may be able to cajole other nations in the world, but Kalistan will stand up and fight back, if need be, against aggression. The goal of Privateering is purely asymetric: As we clearly cannot and should not face the enemy in a frontal battle, which places our units in places where they can be easily wiped out by superior firepower, we will use our smallness to our advantage on the battlefield. Just as a man can be brought down by the tiny malaria mosquito, so too do great powers have their weaknesses. Privateering is just another tactic aimed not at destroying the enemy on the battlefield, but destroying their will and motivation to fight Kalistan, and making warfare against Kalistan MUCH more costly for their economy.

Further along these lines, Kalistan and Vorona have joined together to relaunch the Non-Aligned Movement. This organization is by and for small states: its goal is to provide association among non-great powers, not in the form of collective security, but with the aim of denying Great powers allies in any conflict. Since great powers necessarily treat their small power allies as imperialist outposts in times of war, it is in the interest of EVERY small and medium state to join together to limit their ability to project force. This includes limiting basing opportunities for forward fleets, as well as refuel and resupply ports. If these great powers seek to project their force across the globe, it becomes much more costly for them to do so when they don't have friendly ports of resupply and refuel. A nation like Dorvik will likely maintain that it can build infinite supply and logistics ships to keep its massive fleet afloat, and perhaps this is true. But those supply ships also make nice targets for navies of smaller powers, who can cripple a Great power and strand its fleets at sea by wiping out its logistics capability.

The goal of this two pronged approach to foreign policy aims at turning our smallness into an asset when at war. I would like to stress: War is not on the horizon with any great power. We see, however, the bellicose rhetoric in the World Congress' GA as as signal of Dorvik's attitude, and therefore, it becomes incumbent upon a nation such as Kalistan to begin to prepare, in our own way, so that when these nuclear armed empires show up on Kalistan's doorstep, we are prepared to offer them death by 1000 cuts. We small countries must make it so expensive to attack us, that we essentially negate the advantage that their technical superiority offers them.

This is the fundamental lesson of unconventional warfare, and it therefore also serves as the foundation of our unconventional foreign policy and diplomacy. A nation truly interested in peace will look to Kalistan as a state who will avoid war at all costs, until it is brought to Kalistan's shores. At that time, the aggressor must be made to bleed, and must be demoralized before it will ever relent. But before we ever get there, the Great powers of the world should realize Kalistan's attempts to negate their power as an effort to reduce Kalistan's perennial security dilemma, and should find ways to deal with Kalistan so that we never have to engage in any sort of shooting conflict.

Our interest is peace. We care more about peace in the world than almost any other foreign policy goal. We are constantly insulted and demeaned in world forums, and in foreign governments, and yet, Kalistan has never declared an aggressive war against any other nation. Whatever those nations are doing, their national interest benefits more by not constantly irritating Kalistan, but instead, in looking for ways to be friendly with Kalistan. Because, as any nation will lay at Kalistan's feet, we do not observe the same rules every other state does, especially when our national defense is on the line. Kalistan has been called a "pirate state," however, Privateering will only soon be reauthorized. Kalistan has been called a "banana Republic" and a "rogue state", but to date, we have tried to play the game by the rules nations like Dorvik have set up to defend their own interests.

We believe it is in our interest to think outside the box: Hence, we will continue to offer resolutions in the World Congress aimed at disarmament, and meanwhile, we will continue to work on innovative enhancements to Kalistani National Defense. The diplomatic track, which the SP controls, works hand in hand with the Defense track, controlled by the Nationalists. Though we have some disagreements around tactics, perhaps, these are minor, but our Foreign Policy Establishment is committed to one singular project in foreign Affairs. Kalistan's interests are what Kalistan cares about and Kalistan's homeland is what Kalistan will fight, using all tactics at our disposal, to protect.

With that. I open up to questions from the audience, and thank you for your indulgence.

Luxon wins bid to build Global Music Hall of Fame
South Coast resort town looks to raise profile on Ananto

Luxon, Ananto
April 30, 4702

Image
Architect Conceptual design of Hall of Fame museum, which will dominate 40 Acre Complex in Luxon

The Global Music Hall of Fame search committee announced its final report today, announcing Luxon, Ananto District as the winner of a three year search.

"Luxon will be the home of the Global Music Hall of Fame," announced search chairwoman Debra Sange. "There were three finalists for the site, and ultimately the committee went with a site which was not typically associated with any one genre of music to host a site where all genres and styles can be celebrated."

The plan for the complex involves the construction of a 40 acre complex, which will contain an outdoor amphitheater that will host concerts year round, as a smaller club stage, built indoors that will allow artists to play more intimate shows that utilize acoustic instruments. In addition to the stages, the Global Music Hall of Fame will contain a massive 65,000 square foot museum dedicated to the history and technology of music, both in Kalistan as well as internationally, as well as a "Hall of Greats" which will feature listening stations and exhibits about all inductees. "Eventually," said Sange, "we are going to have to start rotating inductees in the Hall of Greats, but for now, it is planned that we will have enough space to exhibit the work of five years worth of inductees, along with a select pantheon of the greatest of all time members of the Hall of Fame." The complex will also feature a 80 room hotel and water park, as well as shopping and an official music archive which ultimately aims to house and catalogue a copy of "every song that has ever been published and recorded." The project also includes a minor expansion of the adjacent Luxon Airfield, to accommodate larger aircraft.

Building on the site will begin in June, with ground breaking beginning then. Construction of the complex will continue through 4704. "Financing of the project was accomplished through merch sales over the last few years," said Sange, "as well as generous donations by Kalistani patrons of the arts and musicians themselves. The Main amphitheater was completely financed by ODEN-Kalistan, while the Museum is being funded, in part by a massive radiothon they just held on KRTVN Radio 30, which raised more than 7 million KRB in 24 hours. Clearly there is mass public support for the project, but to date, we have accepted no public money from the National Government."

Director of Induction Todd Matlin also announced criteria for induction in the Global Music Hall of Fame. "We absolutely intend to recognize the work of Kalistani musicians as well as international artists. Given its location near the nexus of music culture, we will probably get more applications by Kalistani Bands, but each year, there will be a maximum of ten inductee spots, and national origin will not be considered as part of the induction process. All nominees will be considered based on the following criteria: 1) The release of at least one major album within the last 20 years, 2) A major international tour, or multiple national tours, 3) a letter of recommendation from a fellow musician of national stature endorsing their significant contribution to the music of their nation or to music in general, and 4) a majority vote for induction by the Induction Committee."

This formal nomination process can be bypassed by an annual music fan poll which is planned: "The fans themselves can choose to nominate artists too," said Matlin. "We will automatically consider all artists who get more than 20 percent in any annual fan poll. This is a high bar to set, but if twenty percent of all votes go to one particular nominee, this is seriously something that the committee needs to consider." At first the induction committee will be composed of noteworthy record producers, Kalistani artists, and music writer for national magazines, but gradually, inductees will form the bulk of the committee, with all other categories representing at most a non-plurality minority of the Committee. There will also be induction for technical contribution to music: Nominations for technical induction may come from any source within the music or music journalism industries.

"Induction is accompanied by a small cash award, recognition at our annual induction ceremony, and for bands, inclusion in the "Hall of Greats" exhibit for at least 5 years," explained Matlin. "Inductees' music will also be featured throughout the museum in various temporary installations and listening stations, along with short programs outlining the inductee's contribution to music."

To operate the building, the Global Music Hall of Fame Foundation has been established. "We have initially capitalized the foundation at 25 million KRB, donated largely by the Kalistani recording industry," said Sange. "Others may contribute to the foundation as a charitable donation, and of course the token admission fees we charge at the door will also go into the foundation." The GMHoF Foundation exists primarily to operate and maintain the Hall of Fame, but also, the Foundation seeks to offer grants for music development across the world.

The Hall of Fame Museum is expected to open in 4705, and the first class of inductees is scheduled for 4706. Early favorites are Kalistani proto-RF pioneers Louisie Sue and Dave and Maridon Electronica wizards Angst Experience, Valruzian Szarybeat exemplars The Beat Brothers and Luthori Punk pioneers The Crew. An online museum will also be established to track nominations and inductions.

RSMoK Militia conducts exercises at Bozo River
Defensive tactics focus on hit and run and demoralization

Militia Infantry take a break from MOUT training

The Revolutionary Socialist Militia of Kalistan have been conducting joint training exercises with the Kalistani Regular Army at the Bozo River Combined Air Ground Training Center, at Bozo River Ananto. The exercise, which began in the middle of last month, will continue through October.

"This is an excellent opportunity for the Militia and the Regular Forces to coordinate their command and control apparatus so that we can better support one another," said Regular Army spokesman, Lt. Col. David Marshall. "These exercises allow us to learn how our counterparts move and operate, and will increase cooperation between our two groups."

Militia spokeswoman Cpl. Yolanda Ramierez had this to say: "We liked working with the Regulars. I feel like we kind of whipped them into shape on some things." She states that she believes that training against a real force with different tactics better prepares the Regulars to be flexible on the battlefield. "A day will come when our commanders will have to think outside of the box, and fighting against the militia gets them started along this path."

In the wargames, Regulars acted as defenders of the MOUT course's fictional town known as Sunnydale. The militia operated as attackers, and launched determined efforts against the Regulars utilizing a number of different strategies, both conventional and unconventional. "Some of the things they tried," said Marshall, "... well, I wouldn't want to be facing them in actual combat!" Militia strategies involved mobility gambits, where contact was made in one part, and before significant defensive force could be mustered, the militia would melt away, only to appear in another area. "We also tried a new tactical plan, simply called Smoke," which involved the use of white phosphorous smoke grenades laced with CS gas.

"The requirements that we mask up really diminished out ability to gain full view, and allowed the militia to distract us and confuse us," said Lt. Col Marshall. "We held our own for a while, but ultimately, we couldn't repel the 'invaders' and were overrun."

The Regulars scored a few victories of their own against the militia. "We tried one tactic which forced us to fight more like a regular army utilizing conventional tactics" said Ramierez. "But as we were not utilizing our artillery, and were forced into a pitched battle by the Regular army, who decided to launch their mobility tactic against us and outflanked us, naturally, this is not something we have much experience with, and it certainly allowed us to see some of our own weaknesses."

Wargames have just recently moved outside the MOUT village and into the countryside, where the Regulars, still on defensive, will be able to call defensive artillery fire, and the Militia will bring their own guns to bear. Lt Col Marshall: "These 155s, which Kalistan has been using for a long time, are new, in that they are made of much lighter material which is more durable, and require a 5 man crew as opposed to a six man crew. We still staff each gun with six, but given the technological improvements in indirect fire, the sixth crew member now serves in a more utility position for the crew, doing what needs to be done. New projectiles and fuse/powder combinations have increased our max effective range from about 14 clicks to close to 20, and with RAP, we can push it out to 23 clicks. The Rocket batteries, which we aren't firing this time out, and the SPs have dramatically improved the Regular Army's mobility and destructive capabilities."

Image
Regular surveyors prepare to lay a new Gun position for the Militia, as they try out their new M777 155mm Howitzers in wargames at Bozo River

The militia is also utilizing the lighter 155mm howitzers. "Their base plate can be dropped here, and the gun pops up, and you can just basically swivel it around!" said Ramierez. "It is amazing. We've trained on the 777s before, but the militia recently procured several batteries them from the National Proving Grounds, and this is the first time we are bringing our own out to the field." The new guns can be stowed onto the back of a Jeep or a Mobile fighting Vehicle, as opposed to a 5 Ton truck, dramatically increasing mobility of the Force. "We had our guns laid and sending rounds down range in less than 4 minutes!" said Ramierez. "This is one thing I will say for the Regulars: Their Surveyors are f--king awesome!"

The wargames have thus far gone off successfully. "We look forward to training with the Nationalists next and putting some of these tactics to the test!" said Lt. Col Marshall.

Navy Initiates Reforms
Ministry of Defense Announces Reinstitution of Privateering and Issues Ship Construction Order to KalMilInCo
February 15, 4703
Image
Kaliburg National Shipyards

Following months of debate and voting, the National Assembly has recently passed a bill which would allow the Ministry of Defense to once again issue Letters of Marque to private Kalistani citizens. Titled simply Authorization of Privateering, the bill would allow the Ministry of Defense to authorize and award privateers for targeting enemy ships in the Northern Ananto Sea during times of instability between Kalistan and foreign nations.

Allowing and rewarding privateering against enemies of Kalistan has long been a Kalistani military tradition, which exists to give the Kalistani Navy an advantage against comparatively larger foreign forces through motivating privateers to strike against foreign commercial and logistics vessels as well as to allow private Kalistanis to defend Kalistan's sovereignty over the Ananto Straights. However, this policy has long been mothballed and hasn't been used since 4520 when RSMoK sailors sunk three Kazulian ships traversing through the Straights.

The bill would allow all Kalistani citizens who have gone through the application and inspection process and have been issued a Letter of Marque from the Ministry of Defense to commit acts of privateering in a specified area in the Northern Ananto Sea. All acts of privateering, however, will be limited to the military and commercial vessels of nations determined to be "enemies of Kalistan," while vessels of friendly nations as well as all civilian non-commercial vessels will be strictly prohibited.

In addition to reauthorizing privateering, the Ministry of Defense has also placed an order for new warships with the newly renationalized KalMilInCo. The order, which has been publicized by the Ministry of Defense, will see the construction of four Kaliburg-Class destroyers, four Victor-Class attack submarines, and six Sativa-Class submarines. Once construction of all ships has been completed, they will be split evenly between the Second and Third Fleets and be stationed at Port Sweedes and Yoshimi Station. When asked why the First Fleet would be receiving no vessels from this order, Defense Minister Gen. Omar Stimson replied: "At the current time, we must focus on increasing our capabilities in the Straights. With foreign navies now permitted to move through them freely, we must assert our defensive abilities in the Straights and improve our patrol strength. In the future, the Defense Ministry does plan on giving our boys in Bozo the attention they deserve, but right now we need to focus on the Straights."

Statement from the Office of the Premier of the Republic of Kalistan, John Colbert

Fellow Kalistanis and friends from outside our borders, there has been much spread of disinformation with regards to the government's recent reintroduction of the crisis-time policy of issuing Letters of Marque to Kalistani citizens. This disinformation, which has been spread by the Dorvish who either do not understand our privateering policy or willingly and maliciously spread this false information, has even lead to the introduction of a resolution into the Security Council that would sanction and condemn Kalistan. As Premier of this great Republic and representative of the Kalistani government, it is my duty to dispel this disinformation and assuage the understandable fears of the international community.

In their Resolution 82, the Dorvish representatives in the Security Council claims that the Kalistani government has authorized privateers to attack the military and commercial vessels without provocation. This is simply untrue. The bill which has been passed by our National Assembly only allows Letters of Marque to be issued during times of insecurity between Kalistan and foreign nations and only against the vessels of nations who have provoked the Kalistani people to the point of being declared enemies of Kalistan.

The Dorvish also seek to smear Kalistan harming "international peace, stability and international trade," however there is no valid argument for this claim. As of yet, no Letters of Marque have been issued, no state of international insecurity has been declared, and no enemies of Kalistan have been named. Even if all of the preceding had occurred, it wouldn't have been Kalistan who had violated international peace, it would have been the nation who pushed us to those extremes.

We'd also like to address the recent claims of Dolgava, our neighbor across the waves to the north. In a recent article in the Dolgovina Freie Presse, the Dolgavians make a multitude of false claims. They claim that we've established a policy of pirating Dolgavian shipping. This is false. Kalistan has not issued any Letters of Marque against Dolgavian vessels and does not consider Dolgava to be an enemy of Kalistan. Any acts of piracy committed against Dolgava by Kalistanis since the passage of the Authorization of Privateering bill, in the eyes of the Kalistani government, is unapproved and criminal. Dolgava also claims that no country is safe from Kalistani privateers. Again, this is false. At the current moment, nobody should fear Kalistani privateers, as no state of international security has been declared and no Letters of Marque have been issued. In the future, if Kalistan is cursed by a state of international insecurity, only those enemies of Kalistan who have provoked us into declaring that state of insecurity should fear, as no Letters of Marque would be issued against friendly or neutral nations.

As an additional message to Dolgava, the Kalistani government and people respects your sovereignty and right to defend your people by force if need be, but let us offer a bit of advice: The best path to peace and away from bloodshed is through cooperation and friendliness. Kalistan would rather be a friend of Dolgava than an enemy, and the same goes to all the nations of Terra, including Dorvik. However, any unprovoked attacks against Kalistani vessels will be met with swift and fierce retaliation. So let us avoid any senseless conflict and instead live peaceably.

To conclude, the fearmongering of the Dorvish blows the current situation far out of proportion and it itself puts international peace and relations between Kalistan and the world at risk. Kalistan wishes to live peaceably amongst our fellow peoples of Terra, I believe our recent concessions to the international community with regard to the Ananto Straights is proof of this. But we will always put our people and their security first. We will maintain our current national defense policies and continue to improve the capabilities of our armed forces to defend our homeland against foreign aggression, and no supranational organization run by hostile powers will compel us to do otherwise.

Until the current situation is resolved, I have authorized Minister Stimson to put the Regular Navy on high alert and increase patrols in the Straights. We will continue our policy of not throwing the first punch, and the Navy will be forbidden from opening fire on foreign vessels without being first attacked.

Thank you, and goodbye.

This is Radio Kaliburg, Seleya's Only Alternative

(radio announcer's voice)

We will play a song quickly and then return with tonight's news briefs

(radio announcer's voice)

That, lovelies, was Coyne and the Robots, with their hit "Hypnotic Assist". It goes out to all you brothers and sisters whose Government is on a heavy heavy prohibition trip. Remember, acid in the mind is better than acid in hand.

Now, for some news. It seems the jackboot thugs in a certain cabal among a certain club have decided that your homeland has to be shut down, until we comply with their diktat. These militarized goons and their Canrillaise lackies are also moving to abrogate the treaty which has kept the peace in our Ocean for nearly a decade now. Whatever shall your friends in the Republican Government do? Should they return to the Strait? Should they let the valiant defenders of the ocean go wild? Who knows what course they shall take?

We do believe some things: first, and you can be sure of this. ODEN chemists are right now cooking up some wild, rainbow crystals. We would like to point out the science of something which might be of interest. A human dose of LSD is between 200 and 300 micrograms. LSD is wacky water soluble, though if it is heated, it destroys the amides, and creates an inert salt. One of ODEN's chemists has recently developed a single LSD crystal in the lab which weighs 2.6 kilograms. There are several reservoirs in Lourenne, which deliver water directly to the population of the largest cities of Kalistan's 6th District.

These science facts are incontrovertible. We connect no dots.

Kaliburg-Class Destroyer

Last year, the Ministry of Defense placed an order in with KalMilInCo for the construction of fourteen new warships (Four Kaliburg-Class destroyers, four Victor-Class submarines, and six Sativa-Class submarines). Since then, the workers of Kaliburg shipyards have been hard at work to get the ships ready for national defense, no doubt under extreme pressure from the growing insecurity between Kalistan and the powers of Dorvik and Lourenne.

The new ships that have just entered service are two Sativa-Class submarines and a single Kaliburg-Class destroyer, all three of which have been assigned to the Second Fleet and stationed at Port Sweedes. Though each ship is ready for the possibility of combat, their crews are still relatively inexperienced and green, but are expected to catch up with their comrades through extensive training and being fully submerged into the duties of patrolling the Straights.

Kalistan's ship builders are still hard at work constructing the remaining warships, and are hard-pressed to finish ASAP. For the remainder of the year, two more ships are scheduled to be completed and assigned, a Kaliburg-Class destroyer in June and a Victor-Class submarine in August. The construction of the remaining ships should take multiple more years.

The project has been put upon the capable shoulders of Kalistan's recently renationalized industries, in specific KalMilInCo (Responsible for the construction of the ships) and KalNaFerCo (Responsible for the production and provisioning of the steel and aluminum used in the ships).

Revolutionary Socialist Militia of Kalistan deploys New Generation of LAFA
Inflatable seaworthy craft "virtually unsinkable", says designer

New LAFA MS-12 tested by Militia Pilots in Sulari last month

KalMilInCo has developed a new LAFA for use by militia naval and marine forces. The new LAFA, known as the MS-12 has been released even as tensions in the Strait begin to heat up once more. KMC has completed testing and building this new Generation of ships, and has released the first 324 ships, costing the Militia more than 7.65m KRB. Each ship carries a crew of 3, including a pilot, a gunner and an a-gunner, as well as up to 8 Militia marine units who care capable of boarding ships or landing ashore.

The ships are extremely lightweight and fast. The dual propulsion engines can propel the ship up to 40 knots fully loaded, and 50 with just the skeleton compliment. The ship is armed with one M2 50 caliber machine gun, as well two 40 caliber machine guns and a 7.62mm CSW. The ship's max effective range is up to 200nm, making its operational range between 80 and 100 nm from either an ocean refueling site or a port. The inflatable nature of the ship, as well as the aerated mylar sheeting which forms the body of the boat makes them "virtually unsinkable, even in rough seas," said KalMilInCo spokesperson David Calloway. "In the exceedingly rare event that the boat is ever overturned, it can easily flipped back over, or, it can form a shelter at sea until such time as it is needed once more."

The Militia called for a new design of the LAFAs as the old versions were seen as too bulky and too prone to being sunk to mount an effective defense against more modern ships. Said Militia Marine Lt. Delores Helmsworth "The new LAFAs are more seaworthy than their older brothers, easier to maintain, and are much faster in the water. They keep an incredibly low profile to avoid easy spotting, and their props sit just deep enough in the water to make their cavitation difficult to distinguish on radar from wave action. Granted, a LAFA flying across the surface will create a lot of noise and that will probably set the radars off. But luckily, their radar silhouette is quite small, and their speed and agility in the water makes them difficult targets to hit. We find this to be a tremendous improvement over the larger, solid hull boats, which could be easily sunk or swamped with a well placed shot from one of the deck guns."

All 324 ships have been deployed, a quarter of them being prepared to load on privateering vessels should the need ever arise. RSMoK Militia LAFA crew are currently training on the vessels, and Marine training will begin in four months at Port Elga in Sulari, Port Sweedes in Vrassa and Port Devon in Kaliburg.
