Thousands Left UnemployedThousands of Kalistanis Working for KalMilInCo, KalNaPeCo, and KalNaFerCo left Jobless After New Government Policy
Last month, voting for the Colbertist Omnibus closed in the National Assembly. Many Kalistanis had been on the edge of their seat, patiently awaiting the results. Although the bill was an omnibus and therefor wasn't meant to be passed, the nation was totally unsure of whether or not the Liberal Democrats would vote. The Colbertist Omnibus was proposed by the Colbertist faction within the NCP and had included provisions to pull the government completely and immediately out of its last beachheads in the economy. The Colbertists had also included multiple proposals in their omnibus which would take jabs at certain liberal policies, such as abortion and prostitution. When the votes were finally counted and recounted, the Omnibus succeeded and drastic changes were to come.
Since the vote, both thee NCP and the LDP have received much flak for voting for the omnibus. Initially, it was only those who were pro-choicer, pro-prostitution, and pro-drug who had come out to attack the two parties.
We were able to get the statements of two activists who were against the bill:
Quote from Selena Ayende, Pro-Choice Activist
If there was one thing above all others which made me oppose this bill, it was the terrible provision which would have us withdraw from the Worldwide Pro-Choice Alliance. This bill is only clearing the road for those filthy Conservatives to bulldoze right through women's rights. If the UKWF didn't already have my vote, they sure do now.
Quote from Johnathan Ramirez-Sanders, NCP Voter
I believe in the original values of the NCP. The values of freedom and liberty. This new Colbertist faction is having me rethink my alignments. If the NCP is going to go further with these restrictions of liberty, the prostitution and drug parts policies, not the WPCA on; than I guess I'll have to vote for independents. And that's not even mentioning this Radical Brethrenist faction.
Support for the NCP and LDP only waned even further when earlier this month the three last public industries were closed and all of their workers left jobless. Due to the immediate change in the economy, there is nowhere else for these people to go other than the welfare office. Statistics also show that hunger in both adults and children are rising.
The NCP Minority Leader and leader of the Colbertist faction Gaius Spartacus (NCP - Neveras) had released a statement earlier this week when all of the government sponsored statistics had been brought in and revealed the truly horrible effects of shock liberalization:
My fellow Kalistanis, I am deeply sorry for the effects of which our omnibus has wrought. These were truly not our intentions. We hoped for mass improvement and modernization, not mass unemployment and starvation. This deep shame and guilt truly ways on me.
I will not be running for reelection during the next election, and I will be retiring from politics then as well. For Now, I will finish out the rest of my term, but I will abdicate from the position of Minority Leader.
