**BREAKING NEWS**
PLANE HIJACKED BY MALIVIAN COW TERRORISTS, DIVERTED TO MALIVIA

A luxury private jet carrying 72 leading figures in the global beef industry has been hijacked by terrorists from Gau Raksha Paltan (Cow Protection Army), a hardline Rajutti Gerajan (OOC: Indian Hindu) group who regard cows as holy animals and are fanatically opposed to their slaughter.

The passengers had recently attended a conference of the Terra Cattle Association in the Likatonian city of Chester, and had boarded a private jet taking them to a luxury hotel and conference centre in the Endralonese city of Krokar Polje, where further meetings and social events were planned. After less than 20 minutes in the air, the plane was hijacked by 4 armed terrorists wearing cow masks, who have now diverted the plane to Kajpur Airport in Malivia.

It is being speculated the terrorists feel the Malivian authorities may be more sympathetic to their cause than the authorities in Endralon or other countries in the region, and that this is why the plane is now on the way to Kajpur.

A message from the hijackers states the passengers are "currently all safe and unharmed" and that "our demand is for the complete eradication of the beef industry across the whole of Terra". Gau Raksha Paltan experts predict, however, that this is only a starting point in the negotiations, and that they have other, more modest and specific, demands which they want to be met.

Images are spreading across social media of Malivians appearing to celebrate the hijacking. A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry insists "these are digitally manipulated images designed to misrepresent the mood of the Malivian people at this sensitive time" and that "the safety of the passengers on the plane is our absolute priority".

OOC: Please feel free to join in the RP, anyone who is interested :D. Feel free to name individuals from your nation who might be amongst the 72 beef industry chiefs. Also bear in mind that for the purposes of this RP, time will be moving at a slower rate than is usual in Particracy, so note the time headings at the beginning of each post.

Hijacked plane lands at Kajpur Airport; negotiations commence

With the hijacked jet now landed at Kajpur Airport, communication has opened between the Malivian authorities, led by trained negotiator Prem Achaval, and the Gau Raksha Paltan (Cow Protection Army) hostage takers.

The first concern on both sides has been the immediate welfare of the 72 hostages. With mutual co-operation, food, drink, certain items of a medical nature and other essential supplies have been conveyed to the hostage-takers. Negotiators are attempting to establish a rapport with the hostage takers and bring this incident to a bloodless end.

A statement has been released through a recognised Gau Raksha Paltan channel, confirming the hijack is a Gau Raksha Paltan operation. "These 72 men and women are amongst the most evil people who ever walked the earth, guilty of genocide against Holy Mother Cow," part of the statement read, continuing "they all deserve to die, but if the governments of the world listen carefully and respond intelligently, it may yet be possible to save them".

It has been revealed that Krishan Bandyopadhyay, the leader of the hostage-takers, was sentenced to a 10 year prison sentence 4 years ago after being convicted of stabbing a falsely-accused cow smuggler to death in central Dendhadrash, but was released on appeal after less than 3 months.

The hostage-takers have released Andrej Suchý, a prominent figure in the Deltarian cattle industry, in what they described as a "gesture of our goodwill". Commentators say this is likely a sop to the Malivian government, which will be eager to limit any damage this incident causes to its relationship with its important ally.

Shortly afterwards, a second passenger was released after experiencing panic attacks and heart problems. This passenger was originally announced as Johano Bojanido from Zardugal. However, it later emerged the passenger is in fact Ieuan Berry from Aloria. Apparently he panicked when the hostage-takers tried to assemble the hostages in alphabetical order, and decided to try to pass himself off as Zardic rather than Alorian, on the assumption that Zardics would be executed last.

A little later, Hanif Jumaane from Liore was also released, after pleading with the hostage-takers that he had seen the error of his ways, would close down his cattle farms and dedicate the rest of his life to the welfare of cows. He was assisted in his persuasive efforts by the fact he was able to show the captors his Jamli Party membership card, as there has been a degree of sympathy for Gau Raksha Paltan expressed within the Jamli Party in recent hours.

69 of the original 72 passengers still remain hostage.

Specific offers from the hostage-takers

Gau Raksha Paltan has made a general offer to release all of its hostages from any country that agrees to impose a complete ban on the slaughter of cows and the consumption of cow meat. It has also made some specific offers to certain countries regarding certain of the hostages.

There is an offer to release Harriet Morgan from Lodamun if the Lodamese government will consent to release Jagdeep Thalla, a cow vigilante currently serving time in a Lodamese prison.

There is an offer to release Dnkai Amrun from Vanuku if the Vanukean government will consent to release 3 Gau Raksha Paltan operatives serving a prison sentence in Vanuku after being convicted for an assassination attempt.

There is an offer to do a hostage exchange of Mezei Evelin from Endralon for Boros Roberta, the CEO of More Medicament Manufacture. Gau Raksha Paltan is thought to be interested in Boros Roberta because her name carries Terra-wide recognition, and also because they have a long-running hostility against More Medicament Manufacture for their use of gelatin (ie. animal fat, sometimes including cow fat) in some of their products.

Dnkai Amrun's loses left ear lobe

The left ear lobe of Dnkai Amrun, the Vanukean hostage, has been cut off and handed over to the negotiators as a "gift to the Vanukean government". This is an apparent response to the bullish statements from Vanuku's State Security Agency Director, Jlekai Ráhklarz.

Malivian Foreign Minister Vrikodara Mahalanabis has commented "I want to remind the international community that this is an extremely sensitive time, and we all need to be careful not to jeopardise the delicate negotiations which are currently going on". He also confirmed negotiators have spoken to Dnkai Amrun by mobile phone, and that "although shaken and in pain, his life does not appear to be in danger, and medical kit and medical instructions have been conveyed to the plane".

It is understood that even before Ráhklarz's intervention, Amrun was not popular with the hostage-takers. According to sources close to the negotiating team, he attempted to resist the hijackers when they seized control of the plane, and has been a source of irritation to them ever since. It is said, for example, that when the Malivian negotiators asked him what food he would like to be sent, he asked for a beefburger salad, in the full hearing of his captors.

20 hostages chosen at random have been freed in return for the Malivian government agreeing to release 2 Gau Raksha Paltan (Cow Protection Army) operatives from prison. The two men were responsible for beating an Esinsindu (OOC: Afro-Caribbean) cow smuggler to death, and had 7 years of an 8 year sentence remaining. Crowds of supporters gathered to celebrate outside Kajpur Prison as they took their first steps to liberty.

The Vanukean hostage Dnkai Amrun has now had his other ear lobe, his right one, cut off, and handed over to the Malivian negotiators as "a gift to Bék Grzkai Amrun".

Shaafia el-Mohiuddin, a pregnant hostage from Badara who was experiencing some discomfort, has been released "on compassionate grounds".

An offer has been made to release the Likatonian hostage, Bronson Rodriquez, if the International Football Federation (IFF) will agree to stop using leather footballs for its tournaments, as many Gerajans (OOC: Hindus) find the act of kicking a leather football around to be disrespectful to cows. Rodriquez is Likatonia's delegate to the IFF's governing council, and is also the owner of St. Zachery City Football Club, based in West Bolton, Likatonia.

48 of the original 72 passengers remain under hostage.

Negotiations between the hostage-takers and the Malivian authorities are continuing.
