*The bailiff signals those in attendance to quiet down*
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please rise. This Court is now in session. The Honorable Mr. Roland Lincoln presiding."
*Mr. Lincoln approaches the bench and sits down*
"You may now sit" said the bailiff.
*Mr. Lincoln opens a file and starts speaking*
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I will now go over the rules of this trial. These rules must be followed at all times.
1- Those present will remain silent at all times. Any interruptions will result in immediate removal from the courtroom.
Now, the rules for the Prosecution and the Defense:
2- The Prosecution and Defense will have ten minutes for opening statements. No evidence can be provided during the opening statements.
3- After opening statements, the Prosecution will be allowed to proceed with their first witness. The Defense will have an opportunity to counter examine the witness the Prosecution brings and vice versa.
4- Evidence may be presented during the testimony by a witness.
5- All witnesses must be cooperative with both the Prosecution and the Defense.
6- Any motions presented such as a motion to suppress evidence or a motion to dismiss will be presented to me. I will make the decision on whether to allow it or not after listening to both sides. My decision on such motions is final.
7- Both the Prosecutor and Defense must conduct themselves in an ethical manner. Any violation of ethical codes will not be accepted and proper action will be taken.
8- My decision of guilty or innocent in this trial will be final.
9- Any other rules of a trial may apply as appropriate.
