The Return of von Barovia

"For decades rebels and usurpers have ruled Vorona in place of the rightful royal family. Our grandfather, Archduke Valdemar, was assasinated in the National Palace. His wife, Archduchess Margerethe died mere months later to a small illness that she no longer had any will to fight. Our dear uncle Crown Prince Jochen took the throne only to be killed while leading a raid against the last stronghold of the Atheist Army. Years later his sister and our aunt Christa Lusia fell to her death in what was supposedly a mere horse-riding accident in the salt marshes of Vojnov Pokrik. The young Princess Janne, our MOTHER, was held hostage by the usurpers of the Imperial Royalist Party for the acceptance of the National Assembly, and was later killed when the IRP seized full control of the nation.

Now we, Crown Prince Konrad I, Earl of Pulund, Baron of Slosvag, and Margrave of Vyrdra are the only surviving member of the Voronan Royal Family. This day shall forever be remembered as the day that Vorona was once and forever taken back from the unrighteous forces that would seek to destroy the nation! Pope Josef III, Head of the Voronan Catholic Church will crown us Archduke of Vorona. And any man, woman, or child who does not accept our rule shall be crushed by our loyal followers!"

With those words, Konrad kneeled upon the floor, eyes fixed upon the polished marble beneath him. In his long flowing robes, Pope Josef III delicately lifted the crown from its velvet pillow and placed it lightly upon the Crown Prince's head. Silence hung in the air for what seemed like a century, and then a single voice called from the crowd, "ALL HAIL ARCHDUKE KONRAD!" Another picked up the chant, and more until the cry could be heard miles away from the Schloß von Barovia. A satisfied smile crept onto Konrad's face and he stood to his full height, dwarfing the small pious man. They would not forget this day, none of them. Every single person who stood in the Grand Hall would forever be his loyal servant, begging for the chance to die in the name of their Archduke. The scum that thought themselves secure in their manor fortresses in Saxonsburg would rue the day they took from him his mother, his father, and everything he held dear. For there was only one punishment for usurpers and murders. And that was death.

OOC: Because I finished getting re-certified for the week, and Al'Badara's always so boring without you or a random gay commie.
