The Dovani Continental Football Association (DKFA) welcomes the fans of football from around the Dovani continent to the first Dovani World Cup Qualifiers! The International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) has allotted the Dovani continent with three participants for the World Cup of 2810, and all future World Cups. To decide which three nations will be participating in the World Cup, the DKFA has established the Dovani World Cup Qualifiers. The six nations of Dovani that have signed the FIFA treaty will be split into two leagues, the Northern League, and the Southern League. The Northern League will be comprised of Dranland, Kazulia, and Lourenne. The Southern League will be comprised of Vorona, Talmoria, and Indrala. All the teams in each league will have two matches with both other teams in their league. Each victory will be counted as 3 points. Each tie will be counted as 1 point. And each loss will be counted as 0 points. The nation that receives the most points in each league will automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup. Of the four nations remaining, the two nations with the highest points will have a match, and the two nations with the lowest points will have a match. The winners of those two matches will then play against one another to determine who will be the third Dovani qualifier. After all three qualifying nations have been named one more match will take place between the first two qualifiers. The winner of this match will receive the Dovani Cup and will be the official Dovani candidate for the host nation of the next FIFA World Cup. The Dovani World Cup Qualifiers will take place on the third year before the FIFA World Cup. In other words, if the world cup is slated for 2810, the Qualifiers will be slated for 2807. Without further ado, let the Dovani World Cup Qualifiers BEGIN!

MONTH OF APRIL

Image
April 4th: Dranland vs. Kazulia
Results: Dranland scores two goals and Kazulia scores one goal. Dranland wins and receives three points.
It was a beautiful day today in Indrala, and a great start for the first Dovani Qualifiers. The teams of Dranland and Kazulia both scored early goals and had a fierce bout of an equally great offense (Kazulia) and defence (Dranland). However, in the end one of Dranland’s forwards managed to steal the ball right under the nose of the Kazulian offense and raced down the field kicking an end of the game goal that had fans on the edges of their seats. And he missed. An enormous gasp could be heard in the stadium as the ball narrowly hit the side bar and bounced out of the goal. But that wasn’t the end of it. Seeing that there were only five seconds left and that the Dranii had missed, one of the defence had turned to the crowd and punched the air in sweet victory, though it was still a tie. But as the ball soared away from the net it hit the Kazulian player in the back of the head and was sent right back to the goal, scoring a second point for the Dranii. Never have I seen such a spectacular, or hilarious for that matter, finish to a game.

April 11th: Vorona vs. Talmoria
Results: Vorona scores no goals and Talmoria scores no goals. Vorona and Talmoria tie and both receive one point.
Today’s match has quite the change of weather from last week, with torrents of rain hitting us in Southern Indrala. And the match was certainly in tune to the weather. Both Vorona and Talmoria had been by hard times in the recent years. Talmoria’s poor economy has lead to horrid training conditions for the Talmorian football team, and half of Vorona’s former team had been killed or disappeared in the beginnings of the communist purge by the government. Both teams were ill-prepared for the match and it showed. Most goal attempts were made clumsily and off-target, whilst team members seemed to have a lack of coordination. In the end neither team scored a goal, leaving the few spectators to the unpopular game quite disappointed.

April 18th: Kazulia vs. Lourenne
Results: Kazulia scores four goals and Lourenne scores two goals. Kazulia wins and receives three points.
The bad weather continued into this week down in Southern Indrala, however, today’s match took place in one of the northern cities, which had largely evaded the storm front. Both teams were rumored to be some of the best in the world, but it was clear that only rang true for Kazulia. While Lourenne showed a great offense that managed to score two goals against Kazulia’s mighty defence, they focused little to nothing on their own defence, allowing the Kazulians to score FOUR goals in the course of the match. Things are looking good for Kazulia as they recover from their loss against Dranland earlier this month.

April 25th: Talmoria vs. Indrala
Results: Talmoria scores no goals and Indrala scores six goals. Indrala wins and receives three points.
Indrala, our host nation, drew massive crowds of supporters in their first match of the Qualifiers. The team’s moral was visibly high as the stadium was packed with fans screaming their support. The poorly trained Talmorians received quite the opposite in treatment, as the hate generated by the Hanzen Conflict still rings true in the hearts of the Indralan people, though most only heard of it from ancient relatives who themselves only heard stories from even older ancestors. Regardless, the Talmorian team fell flat on their faces today as the Indralans managed to pull off a six nothing victory. With this match the chances of Talmoria qualifying are shot, and they must hope to perform remarkably in the third qualification matches.

STANDINGS:
North:
Dranland: 3pts
Kazulia: 3 pts
Lourenne: 0 pts
South:
Vorona: 1 pt
Talmoria: 1 pt
Indrala: 4 pts

MONTH OF MAY

May 2nd: Lourenne vs. Dranland
Lourenne scores one goal and Dranland scores one goal. Lourenne and Dranland tie and receive one point.
Unlike the beginning of last month, this match wasn’t very remarkable, with both teams scoring early on and the rest of the two hour match being a game of keep away on the part of the Lourennians. Having been defeated by Kazulia, who in turn were defeated by Dranland, the Lourenne team had very low self-confidence and didn’t dare to make another goal, stalling much of the later parts of the game. Despite this rather cowardly offense, the defense truly shined for Lourenne, the opposite of their last match, as they held their own against the Dranii assaults. In the end, the match was a tie, but the Lourenne team has something to be proud about.

May 9th: Indrala vs. Vorona
Results: Indrala scores four goals and Vorona scores no goals. Indrala wins and receives three points.
It looked to be another dreary day, though the weather was not nearly so bad as Vorona’s last match. The Indralans came out in force, and though there is little ill will between the two nations, the Voronans were still treated ferociously by the football fans. Light showers made the field muddy, but it seemed as if all the mud and dirt seemed to cling to the Voronans and avoid the Indralans. There were multiple incidents of the Voronan players slipping in the mud at crucial moments, including a goal by Indrala that could easily have been avoided. Overall the four nothing victory was easily expected from the beginning of the match.

STANDINGS:
North:
Dranland: 4 pts
Kazulia: 3 pts
Lourenne: 1 pt
South:
Vorona: 1 pt
Talmoria: 1 pt
Indrala: 6 pts

May 23rd: Kazulia vs. Vorona
Results: Kazulia scores one goal and Vorona scores no goals. Kazulia wins and advances to the next match.
Kazulia, having lost in the standings to Dranland was determined to make their way to the top today, but the Voronans decided to put up one hell of a fight for their last match of the Qualifiers. The previously disorganized team had a strategy that they were determined to carry out. They knew their offense was no good against the Kazulian defence so they didn’t even bother going for a goal, favoring defence. Normally this is a rather horrible strategy for football, especially when the opponent is so much higher standard than your own team. But it seemed to work for the Voronans. Not a single goal got let in until the last quarter of the match. Even in losing though, the Voronans showed their sportsmanship with the captain of the team smiling and shaking hands with the Kazulians.

Image
May 30th: Lourenne vs. Talmoria
Results: Lourenne scores one goal and Talmoria scores no goals. Lourenne wins and advances to the next match.
It seemed as if the Lourennians weren’t putting any effort into their game today, beating the Talmorians one nothing. The defence seemed almost lazy as they stole the ball from the Talmorian team time after time. Sadly, even with the lack of effort on the part of their opponents, the Talmorians still couldn’t come up with a single goal. This match wasn’t very pleasant to watch, or hear. One of the Lourennians actually received a red card for some remarks towards the Talmorian goalie, citing extremely poor sportsmanship. Lourenne advanced, but this time they certainly didn’t make their nation proud with this match.

MONTH OF JUNE

Image
June 6th: Kazulia vs. Lourenne
Results: Kazulia scores two goals and Lourenne scores one goal. Kazulia wins and qualifies for the FIFA World Cup.
Kazulia had an easy time against Lourenne, scoring twice in the middle of the match, and only allowing a single goal in due to a questionable action by one of the players. I was rather positive on the Lourennians in their first matches, but I’m starting to have my doubts on the credibility of the team. Regardless, Kazulia won a well-deserved victory and snatched the qualification. It seems they greatly overcame their original loss against the Dranii and soared through with a powerful team.

Image
June 13th: Dranland vs. Indrala
Results: Dranland scores no goals and Indrala scores three goals. Indrala wins and receives the Dovani Cup.
This has been perhaps the most anticipated matches in the entire competition, and not just because it’s the final. Both the Dranii and the Indralans showed that they had some very skilled players in their midst. However it seemed the home team advantaged pummeled the Dranii in this match, as the Indralans won three nothing. The three goals were evenly placed, and most of the Dranii goal attempts were shot down easily. In my opinion, this was the largest disappointment of the past three months. The Indralans ended the Qualifiers and took home the Dovani Cup in a fashion that did not do the first match justice.

The DKFA would like to congratulate Kazulia, Dranland, and Indrala for winning the three spots in the Dovani qualifications. All of the teams put in a great effort, and we hope to see our teams do great in the next FIFA World Cup. Make our continent proud, players, and show the world that Dovani is the best of the best in the football world!

OOC: My scores were based on the following.
Roll 1: 0
Roll 2: 0
Roll 3: 1
Roll 4: 1
Roll 5: 2
Roll 6: 3 + Reroll

The host country got an extra roll to determine if they got another point once every match. If they rolled even the got another goal, if they rolled odd, they didn't. Since there are six nations currently, I assigned each nation a number 1-6 and rolled the die.

In case of ties in the single elimination part, I'd do penalty shootouts. Each number on the die would represent that number of successful shots. If they tied again, I'd keep on doing the same thing until one of them won.

I'll be including New Englia somehow in the next Qualifiers. If Hulstria would join FIFA, it would make things one helluva lot easier, but if they still haven't joined by the next World Cup, I'll manage to work New Englia in somehow.

I was going to do this one month per day, but I decided against it since I'll be busy tomorrow and the day after. :P Next time around I'll do that.
