Meles Zenawi Mariam was the Chief Operating Officer of JayCo and was promoted to lead the new sector due to his business acumen and prior retail experience for smaller stores.

The appointment signals the seriousness of expansion for JayCo into the retail sector and the subdivision is expected to grow immensely under Mariam.

Mariam will continue to hold his government position of Chief of Staff of the Provisional Military Administrative Council as well as his party position of Chief Operating Officer of the JayCo Coordinating Committee of the Army.
