Czarist Air Force Assaults Blockade

Image
Zardic ship after CAF bombardment

Čachtice, August 1 3494 - With the expiry of the term set in the ultimatum sent by Deltaria to Zardugal, which urged the latter to end her illegal actions against the Czardom, beginning with August 1st at 00:00 hours the Czarist Air Force has begun assaulting the Zardic fleet blockading Deltaria's Lake Majatra coast. So far, three ships have been sunk and an additional five sustained heavy damage, with the estimated death toll rising to about 45. If Zardugal does not repeal the Action on Deltaria Act and withdraw from their embargo on Deltaria, it seems likely that war will start between Zardugal and Deltaria. Several nations have already announced their support for either side, meaning that if war does begin, it will be another major Majatran conflict, the size of the Great Majatran War.

Senior level political and military leaders gathered at the hastily assembled conference. Soon the President arrived and the talk settled down.
"So ladies and gentlemen, its come to war has it?"
"Yes sir it has." replied General Hugh Franmin, Chair of the Defense Staff. "We are moving heavier boats to counter Deltarian aggression and air defenses are going online in Ingomu."
"Yes yes, that is good, what is the status of the army?"
General Frank Calligan leaned in and spoke:
"Well mr President, our numbers are low at the moment. We have perhaps some 265,000 on active duty at current. We plan to move 165,000 to Ingomu with 25,000 on our southern border with Cobura and the remaining 75,000 in Endirahad to make sure Jelbania doesn't attack us like they did in the Southern Hemispheric War. That being said i'd recommend the government bolster our numbers to 650,000 so we can better secure ourselves and conduct a broader range of operations."
"Hmm I will discuss this at the next FEC meeting. What is our strategic footing Admiral?"
Amiral Jon Hawlow, head of operations spoke next:
"Well we do have our work cut out for us. The Delatrians are very strong and they have Jakania under their control. We could hope to incite rebellion in these areas but the effects of such remain unknown. Also unknown is how much support Deltaria will get from striking first and in the manner that they did. However we can count on Solentian and Cobruan support in this matter as we mobilize our forces and rally other allies."

Zardic News Network (ZNN)
Today we are receiving reports from the Defense Ministry of retaliatory strikes on Delatrian naval vessels in Lake Majatra. A spokesman said land based fights and heavy patrol boats torpedoed and sunk 2 lightly armed ships 30 nautical miles from Portsmouth. In the State of Ingmou the military is acting fast, setting up checkpoints, establishing air defenses and working with local government officials on war time measures.

Cobura has mobilized 35,000 troops to be put to use by Zardugal. Cobura is also shipping arms to be used by the Zardic military. In a speech today President Meristene said:

"While war is not the best option, sometimes it is the necessary option. Zardugal is our ally, and Cobura will fight to defend her allies. I need not remind anyone of the support we gained from them during the recent fascist crisis. That is why I have mobilized troops to be at her aid."

In answer to a question by a reporter,President Meristene has stated that his descision to go to war has not been revenge for the czarist war,and is simply to help our allies and bring order back to Majatra.

Low Morale in Jakania!
Image
Conscripts setting up defences

Jakania has began building its defences along its border with Cobura in response to Cobura's mobilisation. The Defence Minister has already approved a proposal to conscript 40,000 men near the borders. This will provide Jakania the capability to defend itself in the event of a Coburan attack. However, conscripts panicked when a gun was fired accidentally by a military personnel.

The Defence Minister has also mobilised Jakania's naval vessels in Lake Majatra but 2,000 conscripts deserted when a explosion was heard nearby. As a result, the Defence Minister ordered the demobilisation of the entire fleet until Deltarian forces arrive and give support to the fleet.

Presidential Palace, Belgae, Zardugal

President Pompendreaiu was seated with senior military and intelligence commanders going over war plans.
"Director Duane, whats the status of Jakania and Cobura?"
Director Duane Urumpi was the head of the National Intelligence Agency, the main spy ring.
"Well it appears both nations are in a bit of a rough. Cobura has mobilized 40,000 troops for us but is unable to rally more due to the state of the country. Similarly while Jakania seems to be able to call up several thousand soldiers they seem of very low quality and morale."
"Good good, now about that battle plan Admiral Hawlow?"
Admiral Hawlow leaned in and spoke:
"Since we are calling up more troops we can be more flexible now. I have send word to move those 40,000 Coburan troops to the border with Jakania. By the end of the month we should have send 65,000 troops to reinforce then and if all goes accordingly we should have a total of 120,000 troops plus the 40,000 Coburans right on the border by October. Now while that is going on our strategy will be two-fold. The navy will increase patrols in Lake Majatra and harass Delatrian and Jakanian forces while our air units pound the land based units. We can send paratroopers and special forces into the fray as well as high-altitude bombers."
"Good good, now air force general Eric Schdit will be in command of the operation in Jakania code-named Operation Uppercut. I will now let him detail the plan."
Thank you your Excellency. Now this will be a mutli-phase operation and I will break it down as simply as possible.
Phase one is the movement of our troops into the Cobura-Jakania border area. Already a vanguard of 25,000 is meeting up with the 40,000 Coburans and they are securing the border and establishing defensive positions. As we pump more troops into the border we will slowly encroach further inward.
Phase two is the ongoing air and sea operations. Our bombers and fighters will target the transit links between Deltaria and Jakania while our sea based units will attack coastal installations.
Phase 3 is concurrent too in that we will deploy special forces to make contact with the opposition in Jakania and also deploy paratroopers to begin sabotage operations in Jakania."
"Very good commander. Now let me impress upon all of you how careful and precise we must be. We cannot make the same mistakes that the New Democrats did all those years ago. There will be careful planning behind this."

ZNN
As the war continues the Defense Ministry has released photos and video footage of the attacks on Jakania over the past several days. Fighting continues to remain like this anti-air fire and burning buildings light the nights in Jakania.

Indrala Increases Defense and Science and Technology Spending, Mobilization on Two Fronts

In response to the recent conflict between Deltaria and Zardugal, the Great Empire of Indrala has announced its impending declaration of war against Zardugal and aid to Deltaria. Due to such a motion, the Imperial Court felt it necessary to drastically increase the defense and science and technology spending, dwarfing said funding of Zardugal and Cobura respectively, allowing Indrala to better supply its soldiers and give them the technological advantage needed to win. Not to mention, Indrala's bountiful natural resources in the colonies and budget surplus will surely give the Deltarian side the financial edge.

As conflict has decided to increase between Zardugal and Deltaria, along with the invasion of Jakania, the ten thousand troops located at the Indralan military base in Jakania have been mobilized to aid the Jakanians in the defense of their nation. Along with the troops in Jakania, Indrala has begun to mobilize half a million troops to send to the defense of Deltaria and its allies in Majatra and begin an invasion of Zardugal itself. Such an invasion could allow for the alliance in defense of Deltaria the necessary time to push out the invading Zardugalian forces and occupy Zardugal itself.

Jakania's Imperial Army Arrives!
Image
Image

Indralan trained Jakanian troops have arrived near the borders of Cobura. These 150,000 are the only heavily armed troops in Jakania, and will be supported by fighter jets, artilleries, tanks and anti-air guns - all Indralan made. The additional military support from Indrala will greatly boost Jakania's defence, putting up a strong resistance should Cobura decide to attack. 40,000 poorly-equipped conscripts have been ordered to undertake suicide missions to test Cobura's defence.

In Riyadha, airstrikes thundered into the undefended capital city, crippling supply lines and cutting off communication links with Deltaria. Intense bombing raids is expected in the coming months. The Armed Forces of Jakania still experiences high amounts of desertion.

Armed Forces of Jakania:
Imperial Jakanian Army: 150,000
Conscripts: 496,879

Fulcher Naval Base, Battle Creek, Endirahad, Zardugal

Admiral Simon Helpose looked out at the fleet setting to sea. The naval strength of the Federation was putting to sea to combat the threat from Indrala. Here the 5th Carrier Group was shoving off to join the 8th and 5th Carrier Groups to sail and fight the coming Indralan armada. It was quite the spectacle to behold, all the gray ships sailing on the gleaming blue water, sailing off to battle. This would be one of the first major naval operations since the Southern War 150 years ago, though the new commanding admiral was determined not to mess things up.

ZNN News Update

Today we have learned that most of the Zardic Fleet is shoving off to protect the country. From Fulcher Naval Base in Battle Creek, Jacob M. Wiencek Naval Base in Port Manio and Michael Dowdy Naval Base in Kostandian Bay in Unkassa the fleet is off. While we lack the operational plans of the group it is clear major action is coming fast.

We have also received reports that Zardic troops are up to full strength in Cobura. The Defense Ministry has stated that the force deployed are enough to attack Jakania and liberate the country.

Belura, Cobura; 35 miles west of the Jakanian border

General Schdit looked over the plans. All was in place to begin operations. He had 200,000 men under his command, 40,000 Cobruans, and 160,000 Zards. The border was well defended and up till now there had only been light skirmishes between the opposing forces. Although Jakania had a numerical advantage most of the soldiers were of very poor quality and morale. Only a few good divisions were in the mix and those would be overwhelmed by the onslaught that was coming on them…..

Front Line

Overhead bombers roared in carpet bombing the front line. Large explosions rocked the enemy and screaming was everywhere. Through their surveillance equipment Zardic commanders noted how most of the conscript troops fled but a sizeable force still remained. Surgical strikes hit key supply and support areas while blanket bombing hit the front.

Soon after as the aerial fighting moved back artillery and rocket strikes hit the lines a farther back as Zardic infantry and armour roared across the border to hit the Jakanian and arriving Indralan forces.

As fighting continues all along the front several small breakthroughs are made in the southern sector as Zardic and Coburan troops fight valiantly against the fleeing conscript army. There are reports of the advanced units holding their ground and giving a good account of their abilities but the numbers are too few and too drowned in fleeing conscripts to do much good.

Reports are coming in that a large portion of the coast guard, navy, and air force of Cobura have moved to protect the west coast. Cobura has also begun conducting raids and disrupting shipping to Jakania.

In a statement released by the Coburan government,Cobura strongly encourages negotiation between the two sides in hopes that the war may finish soon.
