13:28, Control Room, Greater Horde Command Centre, a good 100km west of Wiel, Principality of Vanuku

"Can it be done?" asked the elder man, moving awkwardly in his chair while awaiting the answer with a nervous expression. General Wilhelmsrko held the paper in his left hand and adjusted his reading glasses with his right. "Insanity, Heijtri, this is insanity." The elder politician sighed deeply. "I know it is insane, General, but can it be done?" The Chief of Staff took off the spectacles and rubbed his short beard. "Maybe. But we'll need at least double the funding and extra training everywhere, seven days a week for every damn year we have left." He strode to the end of the table and lowered himself in his chair. "You assure the funding we need, I'll do whatever I can." The elder politican nodded, "His Grace will be most pleased.", grabbed his suitcase and stood up. "His Grace is on a slippery slope, Heijtri, the international community wont tolerate this." The politician shrugged. "I am merely the messenger, General." After which he left the Control Room leaving the General alone with his thoughts. Pontesi and Barmenia were stable, steadily rising internally, Jelbania was in shambles but the She-Wolf seemed to be cleaning up, Vanuku itself had been slacking here and there.. An invasion in 3800 was and would be the biggest gamble the Khagan had ever made in his life. It just didn't feel right in the General's gut. Still, the Khagan demanded he would forge 'the Greatest Horde that ever roamed' and the General would do his duty until the bitter end.

16:50, SSA headquarters, Wiel, Principality of Vanuku.

The young officer double-checked every letter in the report on his desk. The contents were worrying to say the least. He had overheard some senior officers two days ago talking about how unhappy the Khagan supposedly was with the 'She-Wolf of Jelbania'. If this report turned out to be true, he would be a load more unhappy. He sighed deeply and stamped the document, standing up and taking it with him to his commanding officer, Colonel Visscher. The old man with his magnificent curled and grey moustache studied the document carefully with squinted eyes, much like he had done not twenty minutes ago. "And they are positive on the identity of this Kalopian?" the old man finally asked, breaking the silence. "Yes Colonel, they are confident he is a part of the Eilomax Company." The Colonel closed the document. "Well, my boy, that would mean the She-Wolf and the slavers are in cahoots." His piercing blue eyes turned to the side for a moment, pondering, before snapping back to the young officer. "Forget all about this, if anyone below my rank asks; you have never seen this. Dismissed." The young officer nodded and turned out of the office, empty-handed. Why would they ignore this? If she was working with the slavers and they knew.. why not act? He then shook his head vigorously. I must forget, for the fatherland.

Zardic Communications Agency HQ, 45 miles southwest of Belgae; 1859
The middle shift was coming to a close and the daily reports from the sections were flowing in to be handed to the supervisors of the next watch. However, what was usually a routine matter had been made all the more interesting by news from Jelbania. Ever since the unrest there, the ZCA had trained its ears on communications in Baofluz and the ongoings in Western Jelbania. Things were amiss and from the communications intercepts they received, court politics in Jelbania was becoming for more intriguing and far more deadly than ever before. The explosion of anarchy, the sudden revelation (which everyone knew but Jelbania rarely acknowledged) of the human trafficking crisis in the west and the long simmering rebellions all led to major fears in Belgae about serious instability in the country. But things weren't tracking like they should have. Order had been restored (to a degree) far too quickly, even for the best counter-insurgency plans. Too many big successes, too many chance wins. Things weren't adding up.
Now the communications intercepts were painting a clearer picture. After weeks of listening in and carefully tracking all communications out of the capital, things were starting to add up as bits of intercepts came together to piece the picture together. Somehow the ruler of Jelbania was manipulating the violence in her country to her own personal benefit, and to boot, irking parts of the Vanukuean establishment. It wasn't altogether clear yet how or why, or if she had even lost control over the whole situation, but it was clear that she behind the seemingly growing stability in western Jelbania, that risked spreading over the border into the Federation. This was the focus of the mission and everyone in it as the night shift came on. Figure out why? Figure out how. Figure out what to do is/when she loses control....

Stilbosch, Vanuku; 0832
The morning rush was about over and Agent Rainwater walked calmly in the downtown section of the city visiting the sights and viewing the lovely public fountains placed in the city. It was always his favorite place to visit in Vanuku, always so removed and so calm. It was a shame he had to do what he had to do here. After finally making contact with Belgae again (his superiors didn't know whether to thank him or fire him) he was instructed to not only continue work infiltrating the Vanukuean government (which he had a few informants, mostly the office secretaries of high level officials he seduced) but also combat the spreading radical Ahmadist networks in the Jelbk Empire. Barmenia was fast emerging as the centre of a new radical Ahmadist movement and it could easily spread south through Vanuku, into Zardugal.
He left his front man to continue working in Wiel (despite recent government clear outs, the criminal networks were strong as ever) while he trekked to the north of the country to recon the Ahmadist threat. He had studied Ahmadism before and he knew the radicals were out to recreate the caliphate of old, and they didn't have much care for the modern state system. Barmenia and Vanuku could be allies, but the Calphate knew no bounds. And it was here he found his first cell. Again using his gang connections he found out that the local mosques were increasingly becoming centres of arms trading and money laundering, stepping on the turf of the more traditional (and usually secular) gangs who saw them as a severe business threat. The influx of Ahmadis and new Ahmadi business (if it can be called that) was already bringing out tensions all over Schoorvesten (not that the censors in Wiel let that information get out) with mild gang fights between the established thugs and the new Ahmadi thugs.
This morning however things were about to escalate. In a butcher shop that catered to Ahamdis, was located one of their local safe houses which housed money and guns being transferred elsewhere. Of course when he found this out he got word to one of the local gang leaders who was more aggressive and determined to drive out the "pathetic Ahamdis from my city!" Exploiting ethnic tensions with gang warfare. Classic. Of course he let the Ahmadi's know too, the more the violence the better. That's why the square was sparse. A gang of Ahmadi males stood brooding over the entrance to the butcher shop.
Rainwater checked his watch and got back in his car and drove to the train station. If he was lucky, he could get the next line out north to the canal where he could continue tracking these groups. Of course that depended on the response from the SSA....

0840
Just as Agent Rainwater was driving to the station a van zoomed past hm. Inside several well armed, young men readied their weapons. They would remove these Ahmadi scum from their city, and they would do so right here. For too long they had tolerated this infestation, but now they were eating into their money. That was the line that should not have been crossed. They readied their weapons as the van stopped. One last check. This was it.
5 men armed with assault rifles and submachine guns burst out the back and began firing at butcher shop. Around 3 Ahmadi males were out front right now and they quickly drew their pistols and fired back as they ran for cover. Out of the back of the van ran the two drivers quickly pulled out a heavy machine gun to set up and begin firing at the shop.
Meanwhile the few innocent civilians caught in the crossfire went down or huddled for cover behind almost anything. There was one cop caught in the crossfire and he desperately radioed for help while trying to pull a wounded civilian from the crossfire. Sirens could be heard in the background as both sides emptied their mags against each other. Then all of a sudden, a few floors above the main shop rained down heavier gun fire from the men inside. Then whoosh, an RPG blew the van up. Their only escape. Emboldened, a few Ahmadis stepped out and tried to charge the now entrapped gang members before getting mowed down. The fire fight went on for 7 more minutes before the 3 remaining gang members broke into a car and hauled ass out. Some 5 Ahmadis had been taken out and the square was strewn with destruction, death and blood. Police arrived not minutes later in force and secured the square as they waited for the SSA. However, word spread through the city like wildfire as the gangs sought revenge and the Ahmadis sought revenge against the infidel.

Western Mountains, western Nemawar, Jelbania 16:35

The grinning ‘Emir’ nodded slowly and spoke in a strangely cheery and high pitched voice.

“What gifts has the honored lady sent to melt my heart?”

Gerry led him outside and whistled and half a dozen manservants walked into the crowded little shack. Not much for an Emir. In another life Gerry had served an actual Emir who wore robes of gold and ate food mixed with tiny gold flecks. This one however had none of that. Even his emirate was no more than a half dozen mountains resting on the long Jelbanian-Zardic border, seized as he and his friends withdrew from the rest of Nemawar while Beki Mandkh and her army pacified the area. There were dozens like him in the Western Mountains, lawless little bastards who fancied themselves rulers - sheikhs, emirs and even claimed Beks.

The manservants came up holding a heavy trunk which was dumped at the Emir’s feet. “What is this?,” the Emir asked in a sing song voice. The manservants opened their mouths only to show him shortened pink stumps. The Beki iwould never slip up on such, only those who can’t and won’t talk serve her. Gerold opened the trunk himself and revealed a mountain of 100 LOD notes. Other gifts were driven in, some squrming in the vehicles they had packed into, others glittering like the summer sun. The Emir’s eyes glistened with amazement while he tried hard to keep his face a mask. He's hooked.

The two returned into the shack after the Emir ordered some of his men to load ‘his things’ into his shack. He can’t even play coy anymore, Gerry noted. “The lady asks that you fight her enemies like the Zardic dogs. All these gifts are nothing but a start. We know the other mountain lords respect your greatly. They would follow your lead.”

The Emir hesitated a bit as if in consideration. Don’t waste my time you old fool, Gerry thought to himself. Gerry continued, “We ask that you raise at least ten companies and teach the Zards a lesson. Let them feel the bite of chaos.” The Emir finally answered, “So, all is forgiven, the.. what happened in Nemahrne?” Gerry smiled at the Emir, “yes all is forgiven, the lady even said your titles would be recognised and lands possibly expanded. She spoke of seats in the Kurultai, governorships and district jobs.” They spoke for a few more minutes and Gerry finally made excuses and left. He met ten other agents who had been distributing the same gifts to the same rebels turned self proclaimed lordlings and similar gifts were presented. All of them received the gifts eagerly. They all got back on their vehicles, Gerry and his entourage drove no more than a half a mile from the mountain range. ‘The show will start ...now.”

As Gerry said that, the sound of explosions rang through the sky. Why, it looks just like Liberation Day fireworks, he thought as his convoy drove on slowly, back east. It sounded as it should sound - silent as no more challenges laid hidden in the far west for the lady.

17:49, Control Room, Greater Horde Command Centre, a good 100km west of Wiel, Principality of Vanuku

"All rise for His Grace and Exalted Highness, the Hajánékhaján Jelbijékai Laurens-Wrntukai!" barked the Jelbék announcer with the savage accent of his. General Bunjamín Wilhelmsrko stood up and offered the seat at the end of the table to the Khagan, inclining his head as the man sat down. Up close, even in the splendid robes, he looked far less intimidating than from afar. His hair was rapidly greying and the left side of his face was hanging a bit. In the chair he slumped a little and once every few seconds his right eye twitched. These are the tolls of ruling the greatest empire Terra has ever seen. "Report." the Khagan barked and the junior liaison hurried to start his slide presentation on the big screen. First the situation in Jelbania was presented, how agents had shown that the Beki was using underhanded methods to restore control and that the SSA had doubts of her true loyalty. The Khagan snarled at that. "She is loyal, she knows what is at stake. I don't care how she does it, as long as she controls the rabble." Lives are just a number to him, Bunjamín thought. Meanwhile the liaison apologized for implying the motives of the Beki, almost calling her "the She-Wolf". As the junior liaison kept stumbling over his words the Khagan just sighed. "Next one, Mark" said Bunjamín after a while to make it stop.

The next few slides analyzed the rise of radical Ahmadism in Barmenia. How the radicals had infiltrated the local government and that they could pose a potential threat to stability with sharia laws in effect in rural regions already. The Khagan nodded a few times. "And what must we do then? For the upcoming war we need fighters and the Mujaheddin are fierce warriors if anything." He wants to win the war with manpower but these men are not as loyal as he thinks. General Bunjamín spoke up. "Your Grace, if I may." The Khagan gave him a simple nod. "These zealous warriors are a threat to the internal stability of the Khaganate and may very well cause a friction between the dominion of Barmenia and the central government. I would advice His Grace to order action against the rising Ahmadists." The Khagan nodded again, yielding to his statement. "Very well, sent forth a message to the Yabek, make it clear we doubt the loyalty of the Mujaheddin and we want him to take a short leash on them." A personal servant nodded and then left the Control Room to dispatch the message at once. Good, at least some action against this danger, thought Bunjamín before nodding to Mark the junior liaison.

The liaison cleared his throat as the next slide showed the face of Ofelia Laevinus, the Selucio-Pontesian blogger. The Khagan scowled at the picture and the liaison swallowed, almost collapsing under his nerves. "She wants us gone from Pontesi." said the Khagan after a while. The liaison nodded, finally finding the courage to continue. "Yes, Your Grace, this is Ofelia Laevinus, a popular blogger amongst the Selucio-Pontesian minority, she calls the Khaganate "savagery" and "oppression" and wants it gone from Pontesi. The SSA has reports stating she is aiming to run for public office soon." A drip of sweat tumbled down from the face of the liaison as he awaited the wrath of the Khagan. Surprisingly, Khagan Laurens-Wrntukai remained rather calm. "This empire we have forged is not a democracy. Inform the Yabek of Pontesi to do what he must to stop this Zardic pawn from gaining any power in one of our most loyal dominions." The Khagan nodded a few times, as if he was happy with his own statement. He then turned to General Wilhelmsrko. "Bunjamín, my most loyal friend. I have spoken with the new ruler of Indrala. A new year has been set, 3805. The Indralans wanted five more years to prepare. That must please you, no?" There is only one answer he wants to hear. "Yes, Your Grace, I am most happy." But I am not. This war is folly.

Parlament a szövetség, Régházikó,Efínia Endralon, 09:25 am
Corporal Noah Konstantin, a middle aged Corporal of the Endralon and Zergoneese Pelican Guard had just changed position from outside the Office of the Speaker of the Assembly after being given orders from his commanding officer to move to outside the Parliamentary Chamber. Standing straight at the sight of any member of Parliament he would salute to them and return to regular posture. The Minister of Defense had just passed by,in Noah's mind he said,"I wonder what is he going to see today". Knowing that the Minister of Defense always had something to say. It was about 9:45 am now and a parliament session was about to begin and Noah shouted,"Bemutató a hangszóró a szövetségi gyűlés, uram Maximus Christoph, (Presenting the Speaker of the Federal Assembly, Sir Maximus Christoph)". The Speaker of the Assembly had walked in with the Sergeant at arms closing the door behind him as he entered the Parliamentary Assembly with the Honorary Mace. Noah Shouted out once more,''At Ease!."All the Pelicun Guards in the hallway had returned to regular posture at the call of their orders to stand-at-ease." Just an ordinary day in Endralon and Zergon", noah said.
Suddenly at the strike of 10:00 am a loud explosion echoed through out the halls followed by gun shots. Corporal Konstantin and the rest of the Pelican Guard troops ran to the direction of the explosion, their Eteyr ZUGs (Steyr AUG) locked and loaded. Many people from different offices in the hallway peeped their heads out of the doors to see what was going on. When bending the corner to go to the main entrance one of the Pelican Guard soliders, a Private,Nilkas Dominik was shot in the chest sending his body slamming onto the wall behind him. Corporal Konstantin removed the extended sights on his ZUG to see it to see around the corner. With this he could see at-least 23 armed and masked individuals pushing towards the corner where Private Dominik had been shot. Two Guards with Corporal Konstantin rushed for Private Dominik opening fire on some of the armed men. From a window on the corner where the Private was shot Corporal Konstantin could see several pedestrians running away from the exterior of the parliament building. Corporal Konstantin shouted,"Fall back!, Fall Back to the Chamber! Bring Dominik!".Two of the Guard dragged Dominik's Body following Corporal Konstantin to the Parliamentary Chamber. As they moved to the chamber they could see guards from several other floors running towards the main entrance . Suddenly a high pitch noise was heard followed by a second explosion. Apparently someone had taken out an Anti-Tank kit and shoot it at the reinforcing guards, killing most of them. Corporal Konstantin and his team fell back even faster. Corporal Konstantin pulled open the door to the chamber with struggle since these doors where doors like a Church, massive and heavy. The Minister of Transport, Franciska Florka was proposing a bill to increase government spending on mass transit when Konstantin opened the door and the guard ran in the the two guards with Dominik's body had pulled him inside. Corporal Konstantin shouted to his Guards,"Close the doors!". The members of Parliament inside of the chamber seemed calm since they did not know what had happened."Attackers have stormed the Building!"He shouted. The parliamentarians did not heat the explosion or the gun shots since the walls and door where sound proofed during construction of the Building to keep the room quiet. Corporal Konstantin took one of his guard's ZUg's and sliding it into the handles to jam the door from opening.
He shouted,"Everyone stand clear of the door!". Corporal Konstantin made a roll check of all his Guards. He counted 6 of 8 Guards."Where is Marco and Clemes?", he asked. One of the Guard shook his head,"They didn't make it sir.","And how is Dominik?",Corporal Konstantin asked. "He did not make it sir, he's dead." said one of the Guards. The Parliamentarian Looked at the group of guards. The Minister of Defense had picked up his cellphone as he dialed the Army Defense Command."Hello his is Defense Minister Pali Peterke, Ibis had fallen. Ibis was the code name for the Parliament Building. The Minister had slammed the phone back onto the receiver. The 205in screen TV's hanging from the ceiling of the chamber where grey, then suddenly a man had appeared on the screen. Someone had reached to the Screen Office and overtook the Parliament Channel Transmission. The man was masked so no one could tell who the individual was. He said"We have taken over your administration, Where is your Government now, Doesn't you government have the power to overthrow me? Your Government is Dead! I am now the supreme leader of this country". After his stated the transmission was cut off. Many parliamentarian where shocked in what they heard. Around 11:20 the lights in the entire building went off sending the parliamentarian and the attacks into darkness. Suddenly the door began to budge as if someone was ramming it consistently. Corporal Konstantin and the other 6 guard raises the guns and sent their aim to the door. The ZUG holding the door shot was snapped into fall causing the door to open when someone or something rammed it once more. As soon as the door opened Corporal Konstantin and his Guards opened fire on the hall. As they shot they slowly pushed out of the Chamber. Wood chips could have been seeing flying all over the hallway as the bullet it the oak wood walls of the hallway.
Corporal Konstantin shouted out,"Hold your fire!". When he counted the bodies on the floor he counted 7 bodies. 7 of the 23 attackers they killed. One of the guards shouted" is everyone OK?". On the Parliamentarian shouted,"The Sergeant-At-Arms is dead". Apparently doing the shooting one of the bullet had shoot him in the head. The guards steped outside int the hallway. They looked to the right as they ran to an open window. Apparently the attackers used the window to escape from the building. The Guards had lost their visual on the attackers. Suddenly they could have heard foot steps coming from the corner. They raised their guns aiming to the corner. As they did this 20 soldiers of the Endralon and Zergonesse Army had bent the corner rushing down the hallway, their guns drawn. As they past the 7 attackers bodies in-front of the door of the parliamentary chamber, as they passed the Corporal Konstantin and his exhausted guard, they said,"Good work". Konstantin and his guards look at each other and smiled. They all decided to push with the army to clear the building since the Army had arrived. They pushed on with the army with Corporal Konstantn saying,"Től felfelé".(Onwards and Upwards).

02:11, Crimson Crusade Headquarters, Central Bazileum

"The goat herd?"
I was staring at the Defence Minister like an idiot. Almost falling asleep after speaking about our latest education reform to various officials activists for the last 20 hours, I couldn't understand a word of what he had just said. He had stormed in to the room, just as I and Rhodesia was about to go to sleep - at the headquarters without our husbands like so many other days. He had just screamed incomprehensively about new information he received from SION that some "goat herd" was planing to turn against us tomorrow.
"Yeah. Not some "goat herd". I'm talking about The Goat Herd!"
"Which would refer to...?"
"Common Milady! Who is the biggest goat herd in the realm?" He answered tauntingly.
"For Alamar's sake, Carolus!" Rhodesia interrupted me. "Stop riddling and get to the point. We both need some sleep."
"Frslj. Nrtvan Romodasrmko Frslj. Metropolitan of Lerna for the heretical Hobrazian Church. He will take his chance to blast us tomorrow at his sermon, the one they broadcast on TV. He'll accuse us of trying to destroy Pntek culture, or something like that."
I yawned. "All right, so what's the fuss with that? Just send some militants to his estate to silence him and then we'll turn the little heretical savages attention to some drama involving the Mujaheddin or something. Few care about what grumpy old men say when outsiders are trying to kill you and those that you love."
"That's not everything, Silvanna." I'm relieved he did not address me as "Madame State Director" as many older colleagues have started to do. "The Guilders are pulling out. Yoruk Amarsrmko Shak thinks he can use this moment to challenge the Crusade and our hold of the PLC. As you already know the PLC will assemble tomorrow as well. There, he plans to announce his candidacy for State Director for the next elections."
"Then he is a fool. He should know more than anybody that the Imperial Restorationist Guild he's running, as well as the entire PLC and elections in general are just fonts we sit behind. If the dog cannot obey his mistress anymore, he should be cast of.
"While the IRG may be a faux," Carolus responded - "the people might not see it like that. Many liberal nationalists joined our cause because they sought to fight the Khaganate. That memory is fading now, and those folks won't like seeing us make Saint Alamar's vision come true. We must crush this maggot before it grows."
"No." I answered after a moment of contplation. "On the contrary: a confrontation with our real enemy is precisely what we need to make Saint Alamar's dream come true."
I stood up and started walking towards my closet. My computer, pistol and newest jacket was on my mind. Maybe I'd bring a bottle of Port as well for the next evening.
"Carolus: summon a helicopter squad for me. I need to prepare my next move - quickly. And tell 10 of your finest battalions to mobilise around Dawnstar. Make them ready to enter the Council building in mere seconds on my command. Oh - and fetch me a bottle of Port from the wine cellar."
"Yes ma'am!"
Then I turned to Rhodesia: "You're coming with me. Get ready for one more sleepless night!"

22:40 a private residence in Auroria, Selucia

The others had already arrived, he could tell by the several bored chauffeurs hanging about idly in the courtyard and the dozen or so security guards; two posted at every door. He glanced around and appreciated the sight of the fine green mansion. He entered the house, greeted by near inaudible chatter as the half dozen exiles lay idly on the Selucian couches and being feted by attentive servants. A servant bowed to him and show him a white and fluffy looking couch. So many billions in one room.

The monstrosity laying on the green couch lifted his head up and clapped lightly till his companions turned their attention to him. Ugsts Marcus Graktri spoke in a velvety voice, yet few underestimated the iron immersed somewhere deep in that 300kg blubber. "It would seem our friend has arrived." Graktri paused briefly, continuing, 'These sun rays um sons, have they burnt the whole country yet?' A sycophantic laugh rang through the room at the lame witticism. Jazd cleared his throat and answered somewhat nervously, 'They are now in the west, they've taken everything in the east and yes, it is burning. Prices double every fortnight now and come next year, it might be drought."

Graktri massaged his jowly chin and asked, "We need fires of our own to encourage the Selucian government to put out that fire back home." Jazd answered, "I have the team assembled as you asked. Each man asked for 250,000 LOD and it's a 15 man team so that adds up to 4 million, including administrative charges. None of the six even blinked. Why would they when they are worth more than 10,000 times the figure I named, put together? We need at least five incidents all over the country, near government offices enough but not too near. Notes and videos praising our so called Prince. Be sure none of the um installations actually go off. After you are done, there's a ship of mine in East Shadar ready to take you and your accomplices to lay low somewhere far in Seleya".

Marcia Avita Severa, the cosmetics queen frowned ever so slightly and bluntly asked Graktri, "Would it not be much easier to just buy the Imperator, the Princeps and perhaps even leading Senators? This explosive method is just too uncertain for me.' Graktri answered her, "Ordinarily it would be, but with war, national feelings and indignation need to be roused properly. The government can't just ride off to war without some popular support at home." 'Think of it this way, dear Marcia, if we take the initiative, not long from now, we could be back home in the driving seat instead of the usual circus of pols appealing to the half starved and half educated fools." With a flick of two flabby fingers, Jazd was dismissed and left the mansion, ready to begin his mission.

14:18, a quiet hallway in the Senate, Auroria, Selucia.

"Talk to me, make it quick, I can't be seen with you too often and certainly not for a long time." said Caius Cassius Sophus, a soft smirk on his face. The old tycoon was absorbing the political game like a sponge absorbs water. Numerius Herminius Rufus, Praefectus of the Imperator's former company smiled back. "Thanks to your quick work we can file another record profit this year, our partners at Eilomax are very happy with the ransoming agreement and so far are keeping their end of the bargain by sending us the 25% of every ransom." The Imperator nodded, Rufus could see his eyes twinkle. "Now that slavery is legal we need to go the next step, privatization and arms export." Sophus grunted. "I can't convince her just yet, I keep approving her proposals with a pretty smile but she wont get behind our capitalism proposals. Perhaps she is on to us, it's not like we moved very carefully, even the tabloids are full of the gossip about our immoral adventure." Rufus rubbed his short red stubble for a moment. "You did approve the intervention in Pontesi? The military one?" Sophus nodded. "Then we need a way to push the arms export bill through, by force if need be. After that intervention those barbarians want weapons and we need to deliver them." The Imperator sighed, "I know, Numerius, I know. I thought about doing it by force yet she has a very loyal faction in the Senate, we are outnumbered. But perhaps we can reinstate the Dictator position, trick her into thinking she would receive it." The old man looked around him and nodded at a few passing senators. "But this is not the place, nor the time. Keep going as planned, I will deal with the woman."

03:09, Leona refugee town, Selucia

As he raised his eyes, he saw her. Although her head and her whole body was coverred in an unassuming palla and she was unaccompanied by the officially mandated lictors, he instantly recognized her by her imposing walk and her patrician demeanor, so out of place within this town of destitutes. "Salve, domina!", greeted Genzius Lachmis, with clear submission to her benefactor. The woman, direct and blunt as always, replied by a simple nod. "Is everything ready?" asked Hadriana. "Yes, domina, we have the most experienced militias at your command. They spent years fighting for the Seluco-Pontesians, and know the mountains of Pontesi well. Lazr does not stand a chance." Hadriana's face gave no indication of satisfaction, but Genzius could tell his mistress was most pleased. "Then we shall have the invasion ready at the earliest opportunity. It is time to show that fat old cinaedus who really runs this country." replied Hadriana. "Any word on those Eilomax paedicatores?" she inquired, her firm aristocratic voice barely betraying her irritation. "Our suspicions have been confirmed, domina. They continue to work closely with your ... superior. I fear we shall have to outmanouver him". The cover of night and the palla could barely conceal Hadriana's face turning red with rage. After regaining her composure, she gave her reply. "Then we shall let him think he has the upper hand. The richer he gets, the greater his downfall and the more glorious our triumph. Do not fail me, Genzius. All depends on you now."

OOC: I love the Latin insults, gave me a good chuckle!

1:59, Sophus et Dives Incorporatus headquarters, Auroria.

The man entered the last entry code on the computer and showed him the ninetieth bank account that night. "Sophus requested a few for himself, this is the primary. Listed as a corporate account of BismarckPaulus, you know that Dorvik partner company, about 500 million LOD's." He shook his head. "Why move 500 million off-shore in a hidden account?" Gnaeus, the "magic" accountant shrugged. "He told me politics is a game of risk and he doesn't want to end up poor if he makes a wrong step." He shook his head, "All in one account? Isn't that a massive ri-" Gnaeus answered before he could even finish. "This is only one of six accounts, granted this is the biggest one." His eyes widened. "One of six? A back up account with this kind of money? He got this rich? This one account is worth more than his father ever had, Eliyahu's sake." He sighed, shook his head and took a few steps back. "Thanks, Gnaeus, Dives will be happy at least. What did Rufus say about all this?" he asked, while turning to the whiteboard behind them. "Oh, Rufus didn't seem to mind it a bit. Said it was within reasonable amounts of their shareholder parts. Have you seen the annual report this year? It’s baffling. I’m looking at another bonus with too many zeroes to count.” Gnaeus chuckled and he shook his head again. “You’re one lucky cunt, Gnaeus. Anyways, thanks. Keep a bag packed by the way, I’ll send someone to pick you up if it goes unfavourable.” Gnaeus nodded to him. “Good luck, Claudius.”

Claudius took a cab away from the commerce district, into a shadier industrial part of Auroria. Fratres Graeco said some fading paint on the wall. But the Graeco brothers hadn’t been around for many decades. Claudius walked into the warehouse and said “hello”. The word came back to him several times as it echoed through the mostly empty hall. A neatly, albeit a little too flamboyantly, dressed Kalopian came walking out of a dimly lit back office. He had a wide grin, showing his whitetened teeth. “Mister Claudius Semprinius, I am most honoured to see you again.” He nodded with a light smile. “It is good to be here, mister Olopis.” The Kalopian waved him into the back office. “Come, come, friend, let us go to business quick, where no men of the Amazon can hear us.” As they sat down in the office he was quickly offered a glass of liqour smelling strongly like anice. Leave it to a Kalopian to get his potential customer drunk for a better deal. “Now, we hear your superiors are interested in more of our services?” Claudius nodded. “The Imperator Sophus and minister Dives both fear that the Princeps Senatus will attempt to seize power.” The Kalopian grinned. “So they want to beat her to it?” Claudius shrugged, “That is one way to put it, I suppose. We know your company has some able-bodied men that pick up your wares. We want to know how much it would cost them to do something else for a change.” The Kalopian grinned again. “Well, there is a price for everything.”
