Cildanian Civil War: The War of the Eagle and the Cross

The Cildanian Police raids in Qart Yam began 1st of March 3872 early in the morning, to reclaim and suppress the terrorists unlawful occupation of ex-religious sites. The raid did not go as smooth as planned and later developed into outright fighting between the police and the terrorists, around 11:43. The Police had no other choice than to withdraw when an angry mob of zealots soon joined the terrorists.

The Police had no other choice but to request the military to intervene before the situation would escalate into a full blown civil-unrest in the Jilsun province and spread.

With the already 2nd Imperial Military Police Division deployed in the region of Jilsun, the Military could muster the local garrison 12:36 to aid the Cildanian Police in an assault to reclaim the Cathedral of St. Gregory. The intense fighting were not expected by the military command which had neglected the terrorists as "peasants with pitchforks". It was clear that the military would need to bring the "heavy equipment" to be successful.

Government regains control

Image

August 3872 - In a well coordinated assault following the implementation of the Alpha Directive, the Cildanian government was able to recapture most rebel-held areas. Particularly in Jilsun the government managed to restore order throughout the Canton's inland, taking the city of Byt on the 14th of August with the use of a large infantry surge. The Cathedral of Saint Gregory, one of the rebel headquarters in the city and the canton, was taken over by the Cildanian military, threatening the destruction of yet another ancient Hosian site. The government's success is partially due to the disorganized nature of the opposition. A loose coalition of a theocratic terrorist organization and a Kaminskist Communist party can only hold on against a well organized secular dictatorship for so long. But now that governmental victory seems imminent, the rebels have no choice but cooperate closely; there is even talk of an alternative government being formed by the opposition parties, with claim to legitimacy over the Cildanian island.

The rebels do nonetheless retain control of most of the harbors and a large part of the navy, which they continue to use for piracy and smuggling in order to finance their insurgency. As the Pirate War now rages in South Majatra, where former Selucian Consul Lucius Cassius Aquilinus gained control of a number of Deltarian ports, the Cildanian government may ask for Selucian assistance in suppressing piracy, particularly since Cildania is a member of SOTO. If Aquilinus does bring his armada into Cildanian waters, the rebellion may soon be brought to an end.

Trigunia sends peacekeepers to Cildania
Image
Trigunian Military Hardware is seen being loaded into a Heavy military Cargo Plane at an airport some miles from Petrovgrad.

After the government of the Cildanian Empire has regain control over the nation once more. After the destruction of the Medieval Mor Yaqub Cathedral in Har Yafe came a sudden surge of civil unrests and rebellions against the Anti-Religious Selucian Government. An agreement was made between the Trigunian Minister-President and Cildanian Minister of Foreign Affairs on which Trigunia has been allowed to send peacekeepers to the nation. As a Selucian Armada is expected to retake the Rebel Ports and Docks, the Trigunians will Paratroop into Cildania with their equipment. An estimated 2,000 Peacekeepers will be heading to the Cildanian Empire, where they will most likely construct a Forward Operating Base near the Cildanian Capital city of Qart Qildar in Akeld. The Peacekeepers main duty is to ensure that civil unrest within the nation ceases and to resolve problems between the two fighting sides, the Government and the Rebels. The Person in command of the Trigunian Peacekeepers, Colonel Rustem Lyagushkin stated that they were not granted special weapons such as tanks and MRAPS, but they were granted transport vehicles like trucks and Utility Vehicles. He also stated that the use of Trigunian Force in this matter will not be necessary since most of the troops will allowed to carry their assault rifles to the nation, just a simple handgun and radio. The Trigunians march to the airport to be airlifted to Cildania where they will Para drop into the country with ease.

The Imperial Navy of Cildania and 8th Armored Brigade Launches Operation Crow Nest and Assault Qart Ramesh.

Image

With the hostile occupation of the city of Qart Ramesh by the communist army, the "Cildanian People's Revolutionary Army", and the loss of the local Imperial garrison. The Imperial High Command have decided to deploy the Imperial Amphibious Task Force with a landing force to assist with the recapture of Qart Ramesh. After intelligence reports have reached the Cildanian High Command of the use of tanks, by the insurgents.

The 8th Armored Brigade was deployed and launched an attack on Qart Ramesh, so far the 8th Armored Brigade have managed to secure the outskirts of Qart Ramesh with minor losses, thanks to the close air support of the CAH-1 attack helicopter. The Imperial High Command is content to see that the different factions of the insurgents haven't concentrated their forces to Jilsun, as previous intelligence had suggested.

Barmenian Intervention brings hope to Hosian cause; 40,000 troops expected to arrive.

Adrekt- In order to stop what the President called "a senseless act of religious and even ethnic cleansing.", Barmenia agreed to intervene on behalf the Hosian rebels, sending in an estimated 40,000 soldiers to end the genocide. The operation would safe guard rebel held ports and cities, increase recruitment and fend off the reported reinforcements of the 'directorate of terror'.

In other news, the President signed letters of Marque, allowing those Ahmadi who wished to flee prosecution under the Elimination of Theocratic Rule Act (and thus forfeit their long form birth certificates) in return for visas in possible post war Cildanian government. So far, it estimated that as many as 1,464,500 such individuals shall take up the offer. This shall allow a renewed source of militant resistance, offered by the so called Free Ahmadi Army (FAA) who have formed to take the fight to the Cildanian government.

However, despite the premise of the offer, the FAA itself only accounts for some 234,230 members. Most Ahmadi immigrants shall be arriving to escape the gas chamber under charges of domestic terrorism.

"We shall take the fight to them," said FAA commander Kamék Azi "We shall raze their fields and behead them; they have defied the almighty, and they shall recieve justice."

Denoting their ability for seige and guerilla warfare after years of combating the militant Aotearoan Resistance League and Barmenian Liberation Front's, the commander stated he was prepared to engaged in "all out war" with the cilidanian army.

"It shall not be pretty" said the Commander "Many shall die."

The Cildanian Government authorize the Imperial Army to use the blast chambers in all of the harbors in the Government controlled territory.

The Imperial High Command transmitted the following order to the navy and the airforce, "Omega". All non-authorized Cildanian ships and aircrafts will be fired upon if they enter the Cildanian Airspace or Littoral Zone.

Some 4,000 soldiers lost to surprise blast by Cilidanian forces; remaining forces regroup and begin seige of Namal Kbiir.

The armada was sad to lose some 4,000 soldiers to the cause of Hosian liberation following the surprise attack by Cildanian forces. Nonetheless, the sinking of the 5-P6 destroyer did not hinder the overall ability of the well oiled machine that is the aggressive (and in many cases, ruthless) Barmenian military. Reports indicate that despite the effort on the part of enemy forces, allied command is prepared to engage Namal Kbiir. It is estimated that with a mixture of heavy bombing and heavy fighting, the city should fall no less than a fortnight from the time of landing.

In other news, the FAA continued its progress towards Qart Ramesh. Without the aid of aerial cover which would have been provided by the military, it is unclear how the rebel army shall fare in comparison to the Imperial garrison, yet hopes remain high for their success. They have reported been given a stockpile of recently decommissioned weaponry and artillery for their use in this conflict.

Barmenia withdraws soldiers; FAA to remain as 'vanguard for the righteous'.

Adrekt- In a moment of sober reality, the President has decided to withdraw the intial 40,000 troop number from the conflict. Noting that "We cannot win this war of false ideolgy with bullets to the stomach", he stated that the time for gunfire had ended. Instead, he would be withdrawing his military back to its barracks to "better combat the true enemy of domestic terror". Furthermore, it was announced that the FAA would be allowed to establish a homeland within Calidania if they so wished.

The Imperial Garrison Pulls out of Namal Kbiir

Image

The Commander of the local imperial garrison gave the order to pull out from Namal Kbiir, accordingly to the secret Omega Directive. The Imperial High Command deploys the 2nd, 5th Mechanized Brigades, the 13th Artillery brigade and the 9th Armored Brigade to Qart Ramesh for an counter-offensive against the FAA.

The Imperial Airforce targets the FAA with major airstrikes to stall the advance on Qart Ramesh.
