'Red Sea' peace march descends into violence
A peace march in the Rutanian capital Vanderburg, organised by the Communist Party of Rutania, has descended into violence after participants in the 12,000 person march targeted people and buildings related to the far-right political party United Nationalists. Whilst the CPR have refused to comment on the situation, it is believed a militant faction of the party are responsible for the outbreak of violence in response to increased political tensions between left and right wing citizens.
Rioters attack UN party offices
It is believed the rioters initially attacked the party offices of the UN before turning on those working within. The emergency services have claimed 17 people were injured during the attack. After the offices were ransacked, an unknown individual or individuals set fire to the building. Shortly afterwards, the group of an estimated 300 people split up and began attacking the homes of UN members. The affected included shadow cabinet ministers Gabe Sinesweld, Aaron Willis and senior party member Ross Clark. Shops owned by members of the UN were also targeted, which has resulted in devasted areas of the local economies within the capital which hold strong UN support.

After leaving a trail of destruction throughout the capital, with reports coming in from other cities of similar incidents, the rioting dissolved over night following a significant police presence in the streets. Tension remains high in the capital as people warily await the UN's response to what their supporters will see as a communist attempt to destroy the opposition.
