Late August 4056
Zerlin International Airport, Zerlin, Oderveld

Units currently deployed in Dundorf
Dorvish Army - Dorvische Landwehr
  • Panzergrenadier-Regiment Großdundorf (Military Security Service)
  • 10. Panzergrenadier-Division Heilige Dorvik
  • 23. Panzer-Division Regismund
  • 900. Landwehrstütz-Division (Foreign military support and training)
Dorvish Air Force - Dorvische Fliegertruppe
  • 6. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 17. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 18. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 77. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 101. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment

Dorvish Landwehr forces and Dorvish Fliegertruppe underneath the command of General of the Panzertruppe Wilhelm von Fölker-Wädensstein, the Count of Wädensstein, began a counter-attack to take back a majority of Zerlin which had been overtaken by forces loyal to the Dundorf Democratic Republic. Zerlin International Airport is the headquarters for the Dorvish forces in the Oderveld province, it is also the only airport controlled by the Dorvish forces in Oderveld and only major airport controlled by the Dorvish forces in Dundorf. The vast majority of Dorvish forces currently in Dundorf are considered elite troops and are very well equipped, almost entirely mechanized.

Zerlin, is divided into 8 boroughs, the Dorvish Army is planning a break out to the east in order to facilitate a connection with Rutanian territory in order to gain resupply and begin the process of bringing in more troops to Dundorf.

Late September 4056

OOC: On our army make up: one division is 10,000 men, our army is mostly infantry based, very little armor, some mechanized and motorized but a good amount of artillery. defensively focused. Our air force is all fighters and interceptors designed to stop enemy bombers and shoot down other fighters. AA defenses are present in many cities. Big missile focus recently. varying degrees of range but rather powerful and accurate.
Dundorf Volksarmee:
1. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 50,000 Kronstein/ West Oderveld
3. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 30,000 Zarkitsch
4. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 70,000 Oderveld
9. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 50,000 HS Line
3. Dundorfian Luftgruppe - 5,000 Oderveld
4. Dundorfian Luftgruppe - 10,000 Kronstein/ West Oderveld
8 Dundorfian Luftgruppe - 5,000 Kronstein

Commissioner/Field Marshal Edmund Ehlers, Commander of both the 3rd anf 4th Dundorfian Armeekorps, gave a speech describing the current military plans and objectives. "Zerlin is lost but at great cost to our enemy. They are caught with low supply. We will conduct a strategic retreat till we reach a stronger defensive position and then we will proceed to strike while their forces are stretched thin. the 4. Armeekorps will prevent any movement to east Oderveld while the 1. Armeekorps will stop movement to the west. Once our air force establishes complete control, we will be able to force the surrender of what forces they already have."

Mid November 4056
Forward Operating Base Echo Romeo, Krasgusov, Eastern Rutania; Advance Base Of Hutorian Forces

OOC: The Hutorian Armed Forces are considered one of the most powerful and best equipped Armed Forces in the Northern Hemisphere, having proved themselves against Trigunia during the Great War. In particular their Air Force gained a reputation for excellency and striking power. It's equipped with what some consider the most modern Air Force in the northern hemisphere, a collection of power Fighters and Bombers. The Marines also gained a reputation at Expeditionary Warfare and for their hardcore professionalism. Marine Expeditionary Regiment are 5,000 strong and are mixed Mechanized and Armored units to be able to take on a variety of combat scenarios. Each Air Wing is comprised of 4 to 6 Squadrons, with each Squadron consisting of 12 to 24 Aircraft.

IC:
Hutorian Expeditionary Force Artania
• 6th Marine Expeditionary Regiment (FOB ER)
• 1st Fighter Wing (FOB ER)
• 5th Fighter Wing (FOB ER)
• 6th Bomber Wing (FOB ER)
• Hutorian 1st Fleet (McCarthy Naval Base)
- 1st and 4th Carrier Air Wings attached to HNS-Queen Sarah, a Queen Sarah class Aircraft Carrier and HNS-Leah Ross, a Samuel Williams class Aircraft Carrier, respectively.

All Hutorian Forces are under the command of Hutorian Air Force Major General Bennet Hargreave, while First Fleet is under the command of Vice Admiral Adrian Peterson.

While the Hutorians have not struck yet, Combat Air Patrols along the Dundorfian border are constant and occur 24 hours a day by HF-20 Hurricanes, Fighter Aircraft on par with the Dorvische Unionfighter. Their presence is obvious and it's quite apparent they are daring the Dundorfian Air Forces to come up and check them out.

Early October 4056
Oderveld

Dorvish forces underneath the command of General of the Panzertruppe Wilhelm von Fölker-Wädensstein successfully retook the city of Zerlin and immediate surrounding areas by early October due to little resistance from pro-Government forces. The Battle for Zerlin was swift with the 10. Panzergrenadier-Division Heilige Dorvik responsible for taking the northern portion of Zerlin and the 23. Panzer-Division Regismund taking the southern portion of Zerlin. After successfully taking the city the two divisions linked up and conducted a breakout action east towards the Rutanian border.

The 10th and 23rd met resistance of the 1. Dundorfian Armeekorps and the 4. Dundorfian Luftgruppe in the Western plains of Dundorf. Elements of the Transportgeschwader 177, Dorvish primary transport wing, began a massive preperation for an airborne operation behind enemy lines in Oderveld underneath General der Fallschirmtruppe August Haas. The start of the airborne operation is to be started in conjunction with the beginning of Hutorian airstrikes in Dundorf as a means of cover, the elite Fallschirmjäger are considered to be on par with special forces but are more numerous and equipped with anti-tank, anti-air, mechanized and have light armor integrated into them. The Fallschirmjäger total around 25,000 men and the period for the mission is roughly 6 months.

OOC: I'll draw up a map and make a map of everything from what I know about Dundorf and it's city locations when I get home tonight.

Late November, 4056
Oderveld

With the DDR focusing the bulk of their military strength at the attempt of strangling the infant Dundorfische Reich in its sleep, it had allowed the Hutorians on their southwestern flank to slowly prepare. As had been proven with Operation Winter Lion, during the Great War with Trigunia, the Hutorians were master planners, and had been slowly and subtlety building for what would be their great opening offensive, done in the same matter as their Great War Aerial offensive had been started, and with just as much shock and awe.

Hutorian SPADE and SPECTRE Teams, in conjuction with Dorvische Jäger units had been observing Dundorfian border defences with Rutania, a border that had been widely ignored by the DDR and had been after several months of careful observation and aerial recon identified the bulk of the Dundorfian air picture. When the ultimate offensive was launched it was all at once.

On a cold and clear November night, just as the shift change occurred between air watchman, several Dundorfian radar stations would note several blips that had appeared on their screens before disappearing. Any reasonable watchman, had they been particularly alert and looking at the radar at that very moment, especially this late at night, and especially considering the zero activity that had been coming from the Rutanian border would have assumed this to be a simple glitch and gone about this business; by all appearances they were gone, and the only Hutorian threats that the DDR was aware of; the Hutorian HF-20s, were still performing their air circuits, ALWAYS staying far and wide of the Dundorf itself. This, however, was apart of the plan, and unbeknownst to the Dundorfians, the real Hutorian threat, were a small strike wave of HF-35A Blizzards Stealth Fighters that had unleashed a wave of air to surface missiles against a few key Dundorfian Radar installations and air defences, slicing open a small corridor of blindness that the Dundorfians couldn't see in, that was already being followed up with a massive wave of cruise missiles, launched from both the Fleet at McCarthy Naval Base, and from HB-22 Emancipator Bombers, launching their payloads from deep within Rutanian airspace where they were safe from retribution, turning the small of darkness into a blanket, completely blinding Dundorf's western air screen and leaving them entirely blind to whatever was coming from the west; the only things that the Hutorians had crippled in their opening offensive would have been what few mobile air detection installations they may have had and whatever aircraft were in the air at the time; a shoddy picture at best.

Shortly after the first crippling offensive the Hutorian AIr Offensive began in full, with a barrage of air and missile strikes along the Oderveld Corridor, the Hutorians purpose clear; make southwestern Dundorf's airspace entirely their own, and secure the skies for the Dorvische forces fighting southwest, and the Dorvische forces about to breach the border and go northeast. The Fighting forces of the Dundorfian 4. Luftgruppe would for the first time of the campaign come under heavy assault by Fighter on par and above their own, as the 1st and 5th Fighters Wings began the messy and bloody business of clearing the skies. The HF-20 Hurricanes were more then on par with any Dundorfian fighter that would meet them while the HF-35A Blizzard was a cut above the rest, easily being best aircraft in the air. Positions that the 1. Armeekorps had been holding up to this point came under crippling strafing bombing runs and missiles strikes from HF-19 ECR Twisters and HF-20s that weren't fighting for control of the skies, along with missile strikes from the 6th Bomber Wing that continued firing cruise missiles from within Rutania, rotating with another one of their brethren as their payloads were exhausted, returning to FOB ER for a quick reload before flying out again. And from McCarthy Naval Base, the Queen Sarah and Leah Ross launched their Air Wings in the air to give the Hutorians an overwhelming air advantage in western Dundorf…. Operation Eagle Claw, had begun.

Mid December, 4056

OOC: there are AA batteries in all cities of 80k or more, before leaving a city Dundorf destroys said battery to avoid its capture.

Dundorf has been able to mobilize more of its reserve and will began deploying them to the west. All troops already present will continue to improve their entrenched positions.
Activated Reserves:
2. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 50,000 moving to Kronstein / West Oderveld
5. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 30,000 moving to HS Line
7. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 70,000 moving to North Oderveld
8. Dundorfian Armeekorps - 50,000 Southern Border
11. Dundorfian Luftgruppe - 5,000 Kronstein

Chief Commissioner/General Nicolas Kolb has been assigned command of the 1. and 2. Dundorfian Armeekorps. He is heavily entrenching his man and moving reserves in to assist them. AA batteries take a heavy toll on enemy bombers and more fighters are being moved in.
Commissioner/Field Marshal Ehlers has ordered the 3. Dundorfian Armeekorps to build defenses around Zarkitsch and the 4. Dundorfian Armeekorps has assumed an inverted wedge formation blocking Zerlin off from the Northeast to the South
Commissioner/Colonel Ludwig Suess, commander of the Dundorfian Missile Arsenal has ordered massive missile attacks against Zerlin in hopes of destroying the airport.

The Hutorian Air Force had faced the fear and strength of the powerful Trigunian Anti-Air machine; by comparison for the Dundorfians, while still moderately well equipped, the Hutorians were entirely prepared.

Hutorian HB-22s remained far behind the line in Rutania, immune to AA, launching their cruise missiles from hundreds of kilometers away with impunity, however HF-20 were vulnerable having their fate of serving as Fighter Bombers. To counter the threat of ground based AA, HF-20s remained in tight formations with the dreaded HF-19 Twister ECRs. While not as new as the Hurricane, Blizzard or Cyclone, the Twister got its feared reputation as an Electronic Counter Response Fighter, jamming any detection installations that would pick it up, and more importantly, adding it's protective bubble around its HF-20 escorts; while the Hutorians would take some aerial casualties the simple but effectively method gave the Hutorian Air Force much better immunity from ground based AA. Adding into the Hutorian methodical and through campaign of destroying Dundorfian ground based Air Detection and Command and Control Installations the only things that could now keep the Hutorians from achieving Total Air supremacy in the west was whatever Fighters the Dundorfians had in the air.

In the Fighter arena, the Hutorian Air Force focusing their impressive Fighter compliment at countering the Fight reinforcements that were being brought in, by bringing the full weight of the HF-35s to bare. The HF-35Cs of the Hutorian Naval Air Service and the HF-35As from the Air a Force held a noticeable tactical advantage over their Dundorfian counter parts; the flyboys of the 1st and 5th Fighter Wings worked merely to deny the Dundorfian Air Force real Estate in western Oderveld for the time being.

For ground support the Fighter Bombers continued to target AA sites, Command and Control Installations and any DDR friendly Air Bases remaining in the west, their purpose clearly to deny the Dundorfian Air Force anywhere to land where they could support their Forces in the west. Cruise missiles and Black Lightning Missiles continued to target runways and Air Bases, while Fighter Bombers hunted mercilessly for any missile launch sites to bring fire down from above.

Commissioner /Lt. General Magdalene Honigsberg, Commander of the Dundorfian Air Force has ordered a tactical withdrawal from the west. In her short, to the point, announcement address she stated "Our fighters are out classed. They will better serve us in other role" Air losses were massive and the ratio of Dundorfian's dead to aircraft shot down was poor. She ordered the relocation of all western Luftgruppes to Oderveld where some of the older more damage models would be used in suicide attacks against Dorvish defense in Zerlin. The combined strength of consistent missile strikes and aerial attack predict the destruction of Zerlin International Airport which is to be renamed the Suess International Airport upon its recapture.

OOC: there r almost no missile launch sites in the west as it was not under full control of the DDR for some time. Most are in Zarkitsch.

Late October 4056 - Late November, 4056
Oderveld
Situation as of October-November, 4056 (Dark blue)

Dorvish forces underneath the command of Wilhelm von Fölker-Wädensstein continued their push into western Oderveld in order to link up with Rutanian territory; the Battle of the Oderveld Salient was a hard fought battle between the elite 10. Panzergrenadier-Division Heilige Dorvik and the 23. Panzer-Division Regismund which had suffered moderate casualties in the two months of fighting. The Dorvish Military Security Service, responsible for all military intelligence had discovered that the pro-Socialist forces have been planning an attack on Zerlin and Dorvik's mainline of supplies...Zerlin International Airport, a preemptive move the Dorvish brought in missile defense forces from the Air Defense Brigade "Landau", a part of the Dorvish Air Force to move into Zerlin, now known as Dunburg and take control over all anti-air and missile defense systems in the immediate area of Dunburg.

Dorvish actions in the Battle of the Oderveld Salient towards the beginning of November, 4056 had finally linked the territory now held by the Dorvish and the Rutanian border. The link with the Rutanian bordered had provided a much needed reprieve for the men in the 10. Panzergrenadier-Division Heilige Dorvik and the 23. Panzer-Division Regismund who were worn and and tired from battle. The reprieve came in from of numerous delaying actions of elite Fallschirmjäger units that had been dropped behind enemy lines and had conducted rear guard actions to delay the movement of supplies and troops towards the front and take out enemy leadership when necessary. Several field-grade officers of the Dundorfian Volksarmee had been captured and killed, notably by the 17. Fallschirmjäger-Batallion of the 17. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment led by Leutnant Karlis Wandel who was awarded the Dorvish Cross for his actions.

One notable component that both the Dundorfian and Dorvish armies shared was that NCOs were incredibly important to their success, the Dundorfians at this point lacked a professional NCO corps and damage to what little they had had, was detrimental to their entire structure as a military. The introduction of nearly 200,000 reserve troops to the war was backbreaking to the Dundorfians in Oderveld, maybe even war breaking for them. These troops were expected to arrive in early November 4056 in Rutania and be involved in the war by mid November 4056.

Late November, 4056 - Early March, 4057
Oderveld

Situation as of March 4056 (Lighter blue)

Units currently deployed in Dundorf
Dorvish Army - Dorvische Landwehr
  • Panzergrenadier-Regiment Großdundorf (Military Security Service)
  • 10. Panzergrenadier-Division Heilige Dorvik
  • 23. Panzer-Division Regismund
  • 900. Landwehrstütz-Division (Foreign military support and training)
  • 17. Panzergrenadier-Division
  • 18. Panzergrenadier-Division
  • 19. Panzergrenadier-Division
  • 150. Volksgrenadier Divsion through 160. Volksgrenadier Division
Dorvish Air Force - Dorvische Fliegertruppe
  • 6. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 17. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 18. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 77. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment
  • 101. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment

The introduction of 200,000 reserves from the Dorvish Army was further backed up by the introduction of the 17th, 18th and 19th Panzergrenadier-Divisions to relieve the already worn 10th Panzergrenadier and 23rd Panzer Division. The 200,000 reserves that had been entered in through Rutanian were organized into light motorized infantry divisions; these soldiers were conscripts they were basic trained but equipped to handle the Dundorfian Volksarmee that had already been on the balls of its feet. The winter in Dundorf had been unusually cold and snow had delayed most actions until mid March 4057 when the fighting would pick up again. The modern era had indeed produced snow equipment to keep soldiers warm but it did not stop trucks or tracks from getting lodged in mud nor did it help when soldiers on both sides had been bogged down in fighting trench-style warfare. It was in early March that the drums of war were beating again and the victorious Dorvish Landwehr were on the march again, the downtime had allowed for the Dorvish to devise their strategy and to the north the region of Dunlake became a strategic goal.

Several of the 10 Volksgrenadier divisions would push north through Dunlake (Gayern) and then would swing around and head back southwest to close off the rest of the Oderveld region from the Dundorfian forces.

OOC: I'll give Rev a chance to respond, then I'll update up until October/November 4057.
