Late October 4056 - Late November, 4056OderveldSituation as of October-November, 4056 (Dark blue)
Dorvish forces underneath the command of Wilhelm von Fölker-Wädensstein continued their push into western Oderveld in order to link up with Rutanian territory; the Battle of the Oderveld Salient was a hard fought battle between the elite 10. Panzergrenadier-Division
Heilige Dorvik and the 23. Panzer-Division
Regismund which had suffered moderate casualties in the two months of fighting. The Dorvish Military Security Service, responsible for all military intelligence had discovered that the pro-Socialist forces have been planning an attack on Zerlin and Dorvik's mainline of supplies...Zerlin International Airport, a preemptive move the Dorvish brought in missile defense forces from the Air Defense Brigade "Landau", a part of the Dorvish Air Force to move into Zerlin, now known as Dunburg and take control over all anti-air and missile defense systems in the immediate area of Dunburg.
Dorvish actions in the Battle of the Oderveld Salient towards the beginning of November, 4056 had finally linked the territory now held by the Dorvish and the Rutanian border. The link with the Rutanian bordered had provided a much needed reprieve for the men in the 10. Panzergrenadier-Division
Heilige Dorvik and the 23. Panzer-Division
Regismund who were worn and and tired from battle. The reprieve came in from of numerous delaying actions of elite Fallschirmjäger units that had been dropped behind enemy lines and had conducted rear guard actions to delay the movement of supplies and troops towards the front and take out enemy leadership when necessary. Several field-grade officers of the Dundorfian Volksarmee had been captured and killed, notably by the 17. Fallschirmjäger-Batallion of the 17. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment led by Leutnant Karlis Wandel who was awarded the Dorvish Cross for his actions.
One notable component that both the Dundorfian and Dorvish armies shared was that NCOs were incredibly important to their success, the Dundorfians at this point lacked a professional NCO corps and damage to what little they had had, was detrimental to their entire structure as a military. The introduction of nearly 200,000 reserve troops to the war was backbreaking to the Dundorfians in Oderveld, maybe even war breaking for them. These troops were expected to arrive in early November 4056 in Rutania and be involved in the war by mid November 4056.

The introduction of 200,000 reserves from the Dorvish Army was further backed up by the introduction of the 17th, 18th and 19th Panzergrenadier-Divisions to relieve the already worn 10th Panzergrenadier and 23rd Panzer Division. The 200,000 reserves that had been entered in through Rutanian were organized into light motorized infantry divisions; these soldiers were conscripts they were basic trained but equipped to handle the Dundorfian Volksarmee that had already been on the balls of its feet. The winter in Dundorf had been unusually cold and snow had delayed most actions until mid March 4057 when the fighting would pick up again. The modern era had indeed produced snow equipment to keep soldiers warm but it did not stop trucks or tracks from getting lodged in mud nor did it help when soldiers on both sides had been bogged down in fighting trench-style warfare. It was in early March that the drums of war were beating again and the victorious Dorvish Landwehr were on the march again, the downtime had allowed for the Dorvish to devise their strategy and to the north the region of Dunlake became a strategic goal.
Several of the 10 Volksgrenadier divisions would push north through Dunlake (Gayern) and then would swing around and head back southwest to close off the rest of the Oderveld region from the Dundorfian forces.
