A growing communist revolution is spreading throughout Deltaria. The capital is currently contested, with the communists having taken the Hall of Royalists. Communist forces are consolidating and have momentum. However, there are stubborn pockets of resistance in the north, with a pocket by the port of Bălgrad. There are also monarchist forces still resisting in the capital. They are at the top of the strongest Monarchist-controlled region and the area where the royal family leading their. There is also a southern pocket led by Field Marshall Braslav Pasic who are determined to keep fighting to the last man. However, supplies in that pocket may run low as the communist advance continues. Communist momentum is slowing down, and the rebel high command realizes that an attack in the north may be necessary to boost morale.

Zardugal condemns Communists

Image
Zardic Logothete of Foreign Affairs Selassio Rakovico

Reacting to the ongoing Communist revolt in the nation of Deltaria, the Federal Senate of the Federation of Zardugal issued a condemnation of the revolution and expressed its support for the government of Czarina Danica I. The Czarina had gained her throne partly as a result of strong lobbying by Zardugal and the Terran Patriarchal Church, as a result of which Deltaria recognized the authority of the Imperial Throne of the Augustans and implemented a limited form of separation of Church and State. This however threatens to be undone should the Communist revolution succeed at gaining power. Zardugal and the Imperial Throne would lose one of their core allies, and the Church itself may fall victim to persecution. Wishing to end this state of affairs that would be very disadvantageous to Zardic foreign interests, the Federation has every reason to supply the Czarist government and perhaps even intervene directly. However, many of the core demands of the Deltarian rebels resonate strongly with large segments of the Zardic population, where there is an overwhelming political consensus in favor of a socialist economy and workers' self-management. For this reason the Zardic statement also calls on the Czarina's government to implement a number of socialist reforms, partly in order to contest the popularity of the Communist rebels, but also as a way to make supporting a foreign monarchy more palatable to the Federation's electorate. It is however unlikely that Zardugal would be willing to commit significant resources, let alone troops on the ground, after the disaster of the Tokundian War of Independence.

Springtime Summary
Image
Rebel forces fighting back the April offensive
The spring only saw major fighting by the capital. By March 1st, the Divízia čestná stráž was pushed out of the city by Renátó's forces. The rest of the spring saw minor skirmishes as both sides tried to reorganize after the initial fighting. on Aprial 6th, an attack was made by forces under Field Marshall Braslav Pasic in the south. It made some minor gains, but failed to achieve a breakthrough that would link the Czar's forces. Meanwhile, communist forces General Veres Albert continued to amass. From what press sources can gather, it seems something big is being planned by the Czar's only coastal area.

The monarchist forces in the pocket were caught off guard at the start of the war and mainly consist of the naval personal and ground troops stationed in that area's military bases. With foreign supplies, the 10,000 troops in the pocket are ready to fight off the Communist forces at all cost. General Albert has 30,000 troops under his command, however most are militia forces with about 8,000 defectors from the army.

June 12th saw a communist offensive in the southern pocket. Communist forces under Field Marshall Oskar Horváth attacked the east end of the region, but were quickly repelled and only made minor gains at a high cost to both sides. 3,000 rebels and 1,500 monarchists are estimated to have been killed in the offensive. Both sides are now looking to take the initiative in the South, but the pocket may be running out of supplies to keep attacking, and may have to stay defensive until the czar's forces can regroup.

Communist Offensive in Bălgrad Pocket
Image
Revolutionary forces launching their offensive against the Czarist forces.
July 15th, 4085- Communist forces are back on the offensive. They began on the 12th and are driving into the pocket, however the offensive is stalling. Most progress was made in the west of the pocket. There, the main bulk of the communist forces advanced against the main force of the Czarist infantry and marines. They managed to drive down towards a major highway intersection, but then stalled due to a better organized resistance and TEF naval bombardments. The central front fared worse. The communist forces advanced too far, leaving the flank open. The 5. Jazdné Divízie took the opportunity and outflanked the attackers. This move forced a small retreat on the 13th. However, as the western advance continued, the division pulled back to cover the eastern section's left flank. In the east, the offensive gained little to no ground, being halted by the well dug in TEF forces. Naval bombardments made things worse for the attackers, who seem to have halted now. The entire front seems to have been reduced to stalemate as rebel forces halt to regroup and both sides appear to be digging in.

Communists and Czarists Launch Offensives During the Start of Peace Talks
Image
Painting showing a battle during the czarist offensive in the southern front

With a retaliative stalemate after several disasters in the first year of fighting, both sides are on the move. Both sides are jockeying for a good position, however, diplomats from the Communist side say that neither offensive has changed much and both sides look even. Here are the individual updates for each front.

Western Front
Image

The offensive began in May, when troops under the man that liberated the capital, General Lakatos Renátó, launched an offensive in the northern part of the front against troops under Field Marshall Radomir Milenkovic. There were about 150,000 rebels and 100,000 Czarist troops in the front. The communist push was steady, and by July they had pushed the main Czarist force out of Ushalande. Seeing an opportunity, Milenkovic ordered an offensive in the southern flank of the army in mid June. The forces under General Caslav Slovak started to collapse, forcing more troops to be diverted from the main offensive. The momentum on the main offensive is stalling as the Czarist forces continue their relentless assault, but that is also slowing down.

Southern Front

In June, forces under Field Marshall Braslav Pasic decided to try to link up both Czarist pockets. This was the second attempt at trying to achieve that objective. The offensive achieved major initial progress, but stalled in mid July when Field Marshall Oskar Horváth took advantage of an overextended Pasic and managed to take the entirety of the eastern border. The Czarist forces regrouped and managed to prevent a full on rout, stalling the rebel advance.

Communists Accept Trigunian Diplomats

Foreign Minister Nenad Levitsky of the communist government accepted the diplomats from Trigunia. He laid out his initial set of terms this morning. "All terms are negotiable", according to him
1. The established revolutionary government shall be the new ruling government of Deltaria.
2. Trigunia will abandon its airbase in Deltaria.
3. Any leading military figure of the old regime will be given a chance to go into exile.
4. Any member of the nobility and royal family will be imprisoned.
5. Reparations will be payed to the Trigunian government for both the airbase and to any damages to it's citizens and military equipment.

He has said that he is willing to go for a 2 state option. This has had resistance from Andrya Voitenko, a leading female figure in the revolution and part of the party central committee. She is also a member of the Supreme Congress and has said that "I will fight to ensure that the light of revolution reaches all of our citizens".

TRIGUNIAN REPLY
Trigunian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Countess Sofia Vorobyeva, the Trigunian Ambassador to Deltaria, Georgiy Sokolov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baron Mstislav Tarasov and a number of other diplomats from Trigunia, after listening to the terms of the communist government, have discussed them and Countess Vorobyeva has said:
We are willing to accept most of your terms except the fact that the royal family is to be arrested. We want a tsarist Deltaria to remain, and we want the Volkov dynasty to reign over it. We would request that the southern pocket to be united with the western pocket to become the monarchical Deltaria (and the northern pocket as a naval harbour for tsarist Deltaria). And we request the family and other prominent tsarist figures to be given a free pass to the nation. That is what we ask for.

Nenad Levitsky's delegation responds with the following.
We are willing to have the state of Doron Akigo be ceded to the monarch, as well as the western front in Darali. Any royal official will be given a free pass to the city state or to a foreign nation. We cannot accept a Czarist port in the north, nor would it be practical for a bastion of the monarchy to use. We would also like the southern territory. We are willing to allow any citizen in the south to choose where they want to live.

TRIGUNIA ACCEPTS TERMS BUT REQUEST TRIGUNIAN FORCES BE STATIONED IN THE NEW NATION
After listening to the Deltarian delegation, Countess Vorobyeva has said:
We accept your demands on the condition that Trigunian forces are allowed to be stationed in the tsarist Deltaria. Also, we would ask that the new state be allowed to have at least one port, which you can decide, in their territory. Thank you.

Levitsky Insists that a Port is Impractical
The Deltarian delegation continues to hold its ground on the issue of ports in a two state system.
We can allow the state access to Deltarian ports and highways for non military supplies. We can accept troops, but ceding territory for a port is too much.

In a press conference later in the day, the foreign minister said this
Yes I am worried about the possibility of talks getting bogged down over [the port]. I know that the they want peace, but they have compromise with us. We already have opposition to a two state system, giving them a port may see too much opposition across the government to actually enforce a treaty. This government is committed to peace, but all sides must be committed to sensible compromise.

TRIGUNIA AGREES TO THE DEMANDS OF COMMUNISTS
The now Duchess Sofia Vorobyeva has replied to the demands of the communist government:
We will agree with the terms of the communist government on the condition that non-military supplies from the Imperial Trigunian Trade Fleet be accepted at Deltarian ports and be transported across the Deltarian motorway system to the borders of the tsarist Deltarian nation and that any aircraft may be allowed to cross Deltarian airspace to reach the territories of the new state. That is all we ask for.
