Democratic Socialist Party of Rutania Passes Motion in Support of Baltusian Revolutionaries in Special Conference

In a special conference held in Bozarburg this afternoon, the DSPR passed a motion in support of the revolutionaries in Baltusia. Baltusia has recently been in the grip of a violent insurrection supported by the Autonomous Socialist Party (ASP) and Revolutionary Anarcho-Communist Party (RACP). President Green, who is Chairman of the Party's National Executive Committee, welcomed the motion and has promised that the DSPR will offer support to the revolutionaries, though he refused to comment on what form this support might take.

Despite holding the Presidency, the DSPR is in opposition in the Rutanian House of Representatives. The motion therefore does not reflect the policy of the Rutanian government. The news was received enthusiastically by members of the DSPR's paramilitary organisation, the Red Front, with one member, who wanted to remain anonymous, stating that he expects many hundreds of the 15,000 Red Front members to travel to Baltusia with or without the official backing of the party.

Official Statement of the Government of New Endralon

"Proletarian rebellions are a natural consequence of the class struggle inherent in pre-socialist regimes. We are concerned with recent anti-democratic moves by the Baltusian government giving extraordinary powers to its security forces to break up peaceful gatherings and arrest people without evidence. While Baltusia's internal affairs are its own business, we will not react well to reports of our own citizens being detained, deported, or otherwise unjustly harassed by Baltusian security forces. Further, we reject as absolute rubbish the continued rumors and reports of New Endralonian government complicity in the Baltusian rebellion. Baltusia has only its own anti-worker policies to blame for the current uprising."

New Endralonian People's Party condemns Confederal citizens fighting with terrorists.

Freedom and democracy are what our party stands for. Our party takes the accusations against our government seriously and will invest into what happend and why our government has not recalled all our citizens from the wartorn nation. The party has also proposed as of today a bill to prosecute all citizens who fight for the communist rebels.

Further more the party fully condemns the government for sticking its nose in the affairs of others and for not condemning violence.

Hundreds of far left activists arrested and houses searched

As diplomatic talks to end the civil war stall, Home Secretary Bathsheba Grey has ordered the arrests of hundreds of left-wing activists around the country. Properties belonging to the RAC Party and other affiliated organisations have also been searched in a bid to track down supporters of the rebels.

Meanwhile, armed police patrols have been beefed up and shock police detachments formed and issued with sub-machine weaponry and sophisticated anti-riot armoury. They have been granted "search at will" powers in order to apprehend rebel supporters.

Ms Grey said: "Congress has rightly voted to extend police powers during this crisis. We have moved quickly to arrest hundreds of known left-wing activists - many of these are also affiliated with the RAC and Freedom parties, and include several members of the extended Benn and Gibb families.

Our intelligence shows they are actively supporting the rebels. They will be detained in specially-errected questioning camps and, where necessary, all lawful means used to reach the truth."

"Embassies of nations that have openly supported the rebels are also being vigilantly watched, while special anti-terror police detachments will guard all key government figures.

"We do not take these measures lightly but until the rebels decide to call off this deadly conflict and talk to us reasonably at the negotiating table we must do whatever is necessary to safeguard our nation's liberty."
“I venture to suggest that patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.”

The People's Army, militia of the Labour Party, has crossed the Kalistani border into Communist-controlled areas of Baltusia. Although the objectives were stated to be to secure the safety of those living on the Kalistan-Baltusia border, the militia has primarily focused on pushing back poorly co-ordinated revolutionary Communist forces. A statement was provided by Field Marshall Edward Thorn, Commander-In-Chief of the People's Army:

An ongoing and violent conflict so close to the Kalistan puts at risk the lives of many Kalistani citizens. Our goals will be to secure an area along the border which the People's Army shall control until assurances can be given that the conflict has reached an end. We will ensure locals are given necessary aid and medical treatment to safeguard them. It should be made clear that we are not fighting alongside the Baltusian government, rather it is simply that our common enemy- those who wish to undermine the democratic process- pose the greatest risk to Kalistani lives.

New Endralonian People's Party wins elections

The NEPP, the New Endralonian Conservatives, won the Confederal elections with a staggering 76% of the vote. This victory was due to the discovery of involvement of the communist party in the affairs of the Baltusians. The new government under the NEPP has condemned the actions and has offered the Baltusian government a full appology.

The Conservatives have announced that the entire communist party leadership, including the paramilitaries and officials who aided the party, will be apprehended and tried for terrorism and aiding terrorist organisations. The government also offers the Baltusian government any support neccessary to remove any and all communist influences that came from the Confederation of New Endralon, Kizenia and Kuzaki.

DEMOCRACY TAKES ROOT IN QUCHAPAMPA'S FACTORIES

In the midst of Baltusia's bloody revolutionary war, an experiment in worker's control and workplace democracy is taking place.

The city of Quchapampa, in North Baltusia, lies in the middle of the territory controlled by the revolutionary forces in that country's ongoing conflict. In a move designed to win support among the working classes in their territory and across Baltusia, the revolutionary forces have begun reorganising the city's largest workplaces along democratic lines, with supervisory and management roles as elected positions.

At the city's car factory, one of the largest employers in the region, our correspondent Stuart Blood spoke to workers as they took part in the factory's first elections this morning. One worker, named Manuel, seemed pleased with the idea: "Today we sacked a lot of unpopular supervisors. The new ones won't be able to push us around like before, or we'll do the same! Personally, I don't know who is right in this rebellion, but I definitely agree with this new way of doing things ... I even heard we will be paid a share of the profits!". The plant's owners were unavailable for comment, and are understood to be in the nation's capital Villita, in Government-held territory.

Updated Map of the War in Baltusia

The most recent offensives have seen the revolutionary forces overrun the city of Qusquwanka in Terraroka, after having taken the state capital of Rokkavilla and the city of Rococielo several weeks ago. Government forces have been able to halt the revolutionaries' advance at the city of Llatja, the only remaining Terrarokan city under government control. Some of the fighting around Rococielo has spilled over into Gevaro for the first time.

In Lindar Valley, revolutionary forces recently strengthened their hold on the state capital of Castella, and there have been outbreaks of fighting in the region south of the city, including Garnata. Conflict remains along the border between revolutionary-held territory in Lindar Valley and Kalistan.

The fiercest of the fighting currently taking place is around the cities of Llatja and Intikancha, government held cities on the edges of revolutionary-held territories. Garnata is also being targeted to a lesser extent. Should the revolutionaries succeed in taking these cities, they will control the entirety of the two northern states. The states of Athosia and Albiland are currently unaffected by the violence, with earlier outbreaks now contained by government forces.

Breaking News: Major Gains for Revolutionary Forces

Image

In shock developments, revolutionary forces in the North last night overran government forces in Intikancha and Garnata yesterday, completing their conquest of Lindar Valley and clearing the way for a clean sweep through the plains and mountain regions of Gevaro. Government forces hastily retreated to the Gevaro state capital of Llanuras and Bosquema. The mountain regions have proved advatageous to the advancing revolutionary army, lessening the advantage of high-tech equipment, heavy artillery, and armoured tanks and vehicles used by government forces.

Advancing revolutionary troops from Garnata pursued the retreating government forces to Bosquema, where they are launching a desperate defence to prevent the revolutionaries from advancing to the coast. Revolutionary forces from Intikancha, meanwhile, moved to relieve their comrades around Rococielo, clearing the way to capture the mountain city of Montablanca, where the surprised police force offered the only real resistance. From there, the forced marched north-east through the mountains to the Gevaro state capital of Llanuras. Revolutionary forces are now understood to be ranging the entirety of the Gevaro mountain range, engaging in shootouts with government forces in an effort to cut off Government supply lines to Llanuras and Bosquema.

In Terrarokka, government forces continue to mount an effective defence of Llatja, understood to be a key priority in preventing the revolutionaries advancing along the south to the Villita. Their advance through the mountains of Gevaro, however, seems to have taken the government by surprise. The President denied rumours of emergency plans for a government-in-exile, described by military analyst Simon Roche as "the first indication that the government is taking the prospect of defeat seriously". The authorities today appealed for calm, stating that the nation's capital was well defended, and praising the efforts of the army in Llatja.
