Kongefrosvar launches Operation Silent Eagle.

An invasion force of around 180,000 troops and paratroopers was launched by the Kingdom of Kazulia in what Defence Command coins "Pre-emptive defence". The invasion comes amid the expulsion of the Hulstrian Invasion force initially sent to carve up land from Kazulia, out of the nation. Statsminister Robert Nordmark stood with King Arvid II around midnight when he declared that the Kongeforsvar (Royal Kazulian Defence Force) would be launching an invasion of Hulstria. Statsminister Nordmark proclaimed that the government had acted on the willingness of the nation to seek vengeance and properly ensure the defence of the nation by ensuring the source of the threat had been eliminated. According to intelligence sources within Defence Command, upon hearing the Successful completion of Operation Hammarskjöld, Chief of Defence Staff General Reidar Valebrokk, ordered the Kongelig Landethær (Royal Army) - who had been waiting in reserve throughout Operation Hammarskjöld- to move forward and cross the border into Hulstria.

With air superiority within the lands of the Air-Force, an intense period of bombing occurred prior to the invasion. According to officials from Defence Command, the airstrikes conducted by the Air-Force were mainly concentrated on strategic defence sites such as the Reichskanzler's Palace, the Hulstrian Defence Ministry and several known weapons depots across the nation. General Valebrokk told officials from the media that he intends on being on the battlefield commanding the invasion from the ground as he called the invasion a mission of vengeance for the invasion of Kazulia by the Hulstrians.

According to reports from Defence Command the Kongeforsvar launched a simultaneous assault front three positions. An amphibious invasion launched by the 1st Draddwyrbrigaden, the 2nd Kultivertbrigaden and the 1st Jegerbrigaden on the western coastline of the province of Budenlar. Whilst the amphibious invasion was launched, an airborne assault had been launched by the five airborne brigades. Clashes in the cities of Numamura and Kourien are currently on-going with many defence analysts confirming that these clashes will end in an unconditional defeat to the Reichswehr in the two cities, as the Kongelig Luftvåpen are conducting airstrikes on sorties throughout the country as they exercise their reign in air superiority. It is expected that these assaults are to be reinforced by reservists to maintain the momentum of the invasion. General Valebrokk stated that with the use of Auftragstaktik stated that the invasion will follow the principles of the doctrine, including a great emphasis on speed.

Similar to Operation Soul Rebel from the War for the Emperor's Protection, Operation Silent Eagle is aimed at securing the northern country side of Mikuni-Hulstria. According to Defence Command, the Royal Army was currently pushing around 10 divisions into the nation and according to reports, clashes are still ongoing. It was stated by officials from Defence Command that once the Royal Army secured the northern country side, reinforcements will be sent as the 270,000 reserves of the Royal Army prepare for mass mobilisation.

The current efforts of the Royal Army will be reinforced by the Royal Air Force who are expected to conduct a series of combined arms roles, most important ensuring the air superiority achieved is kept and conducting close-air-support missions. It is uncertain as to whether, the Kongeforsvar will commit support to the increasingly present Liberation and Vengeance paramilitary organisation in their drive against the Hulstrian government, however, it is expected that they might over assistance to the group similar to they did with the Landsbürgerwehr during the War for the Emperor's Protection.

MONARCH'S TV BROADCAST SPARKS CONTROVERSY AS DEFENCES CONSTRUCTED ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

- Beatrice II taken off air after criticising government policy

- Network of defences established as Kazulian army advances

Image
Defensive works are now in place across the country.

Queen Beatrice II has taken the unprecedented act of personally intervening in the war with Kazulia.

As enemy troops advanced into northern Hulstria, Her Imperial Majesty called for the nation to "stand as one or face destruction". The young queen urged protestors to return to their homes and "respect the curfew" and she also called on the international community to intervene diplomatically.

However, in what seemed to be a move away from the endorsed script she also went on to criticise her own government saying its choice of certain social policies and the need to expand Hulstria's borders "had not been prudent decisions."

Soon afterwards, her live broadcast was taken off air and replaced with all six verses of the national anthem "Land Unserer Vater".

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed that several hundred Class C citizens and an undisclosed number of foreign nationals had been killed at strategic location bombed by the Kazulian airforce. The MoD said they had been moved to the sites as part of Operation Human Shield in an attempt to deter attacks.

Defences Constructed

As the Kazulian armed forces make further advances, progress on a series of defensive works continues apace. A line of hastily dug trench networks, machine gun pillboxes, artillery emplacements and redoubts have been created to try to stop the invasion in its tracks.

The defensive line runs along higher ground from the naval base of Furaida on the south western coast of Bundelar moving directly east before eventually following the southern state border line of neighbouring Hulstria. Other defensive works have been built around key cities, such as the capital Karlstadt.

While Army Group A and B fight a tactical withdrawal further north, the defences are being manned by up to 200,000 Imperial army reserves, who are digging in. Many are conscripted straight from school and now include 15 year olds, following the passing of new legislation as part of Operation Stormwarden.

Reichskanzler Heinrich Otto Mann said: "We warned the international community of the aggressive nature of Kazulia. They did not listen and we were forced to invade or be invaded. Now we face what we predicted all along - a warlike neighbour who will stop at nothing until they destroy our country.

"Well, we will not let them. Operation Stormwarden will save our country from their hostility. The defensive line we have drawn up is a line in the sand. They will not cross it and our armed forces will not abandon it - we will fight to the last man if needs be. No surrender to the enemy!"

Kongeforsvar Secures Northern Countryside; Reinforces deployed forces
Kongelig Landethær launched Operation Silent Eagle Phase 2: Operation Silver Thunder.

2nd November, 4264

Defence Command announced that Royal Army through the efforts of the 10 Divisions initially sent into the country had secured the Northern countryside of Hulstria, thus sending Hulstrian Army Group A on a retreat into the provinces of Mitrania and lower portion of Bundenlar. With the northern countryside secure, Defence Command ordered for seven (7) divisions to continue their push, leaving around three (3) divisions to completely sweep the region for resistance pockets and to ensure an unexpected enemy counter-offensive is derailed immediately. According to reconnaissance reports, the northern provinces of Hulstria and the northern portion of Bundenlar had the least concentration of Reichswehr soldiers, pointing to the fact that the Reichswehr had withdrawn the majority of their remaining man power from the northern regions towards the battle-line established throughout the regions south of Hulstria and Budenlar.

The efforts of the 1st Draddwyrbrigaden, the 2nd Kultivertbrigaden and the 1st Jegerbrigaden have been reinforced by the 3rd Draddwyrbrigaden and the 2nd and 3rd Jegerbrigadens. According to statements from Defence Command, the retreat of Reichswehr forces to the southern regions of Bundenlar enabled them to drive deep into the northern regions of Budenlar where they are expected to rendezvous with the three (3) divisions remaining in Hulstria and northern Bundelar. The Ministry of Defence announced the mobilisation of all reservists of the Royal Army. With the momentum of the initial force slowing down, the Ministry of Defence has decided to reinforce said force with reservists. There are estimated to be around two-hundred and seventy thousand (270,000) reservists of the Royal Army current being deployed to the battlefield in Hulstria, thus bringing the number of Kongeforsvar military personnel to around four hundred and fifty thousand (450,000). Currently Defence Command has already integrated some reserves into a series of operations to come in the future.

Focusing on the airborne assault launched previously, Defence Command had confirmed that this airborne assault had been derailed and the brigades involved were ordered to immediately withdraw. The reason for the withdrawal is currently unknown, however sources within the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff stated that General Valebrokk thought that an airborne assault of an area with a high concentration of enemy units have suicidal. Sadly, reports were confirmed by the Institute for Defence Information that of the five brigades deployed around four had returned to friendly lines, leading to the conclusion that one of the airborne brigades deployed had been wiped. On a separate note, it had been reported that five (5) artillery battalions were preparing to commence joint artillery strikes against the defensive line established in southern Hulstria, in collaboration with the Air-force and the Navy. It is not known as to when the strikes will commence or where the strikes will be targeted however certain individuals have highlighted that knowing the Kongeforsvar's tactics, it will strike the defensive positions with various ammunition.

A memorandum of understanding on military coordination between the leaders of 'Liberation and Vengeance' and the Kingdom of Kazulia was concluded after being signed with Leader Burun Gyuntā and Chief of Defence Staff General Reidar Valebrokk. In the memorandum, the Kingdom of Kazulia committed to provide military and financial support to the rebel group on the front-lines. In his address to the heads of the various leaders of the group, General Aaagard stated that the rebel group was a crucial force in upcoming operations in the southern end of Hulstria. "Liberation and Vengeance will play an extremely important role operations to come, operations which are centred/focused on the southern end of Hulstria."

International discord has generated out of the conflict recently after the Hulstrian Ambassador to the World Congress pressed for an immediate ceasefire. In his address he accused the Kingdom of Kazulia of being aggressive and sending "innocent" young soldiers (of Hulstria) to the meat grinder. Apart from this he championed the "success" of Operation Human Shield accentuating that it was helping to nullify the enemy bombing successes. Officials from Defence Command refused to comment on the premise of meeting with the Hulstrians for a ceasefire, as it was announced that the order would have to either come from the Monarch, the Statsminister, the Defence Minister or the Chief of the Defence. With the three former stating that they had put the decision into the hands of General Valebrokk, it is unclear whether Valebrokk will call for an immediate ceasefire.

RETREATING FORCES JOIN DEFENSIVE LINE AS NORTHERN HULSTRIA FALLS

- Army Groups A and B fall back to the 'Heinrich Line' as Kazulians advance
- Troops sent to quell Liberation and Vengeance rebellion in Mitrania
- Two Istalians arrested on espionage charges as MoD investigates claims of international meddling

Image

Five divisions of the retreating Army Groups A and B have joined the "last-gasp" defensive cordon drawn up across Hulstria to contain Kazulian forces.

Known colloquially as the Heinrich Line by soldiers who are manning it - after Reichskanzler Heinrich Otto-Mann who ordered its construction - the aim is to prevent advancing enemy units invading the heavily industrialised state of Mitrania as well as southern Budenlar, which is home to the strategic city and naval base of Furaida.

These Hulstrian units are said to have fallen back in good order despite taking casualties, and include the 1st and 2nd Armoured Divisions and the 3rd Special Division. However, at least seven other "Greater Hulstria" divisions - consisting of mainly conscript infantry and older artillery - are reported to have taken heavy losses and have been sent further south to regroup and reinforce. Much of their support equipment and heavy weaponry has been left behind on the battlefield.

Reichskanzler Otto-Mann has made it clear there will be no retreat from the Heinrich Line and that all senior officers have been issued with "hold at all costs" orders. He has left the overall defence of the Line to General Gerhard Loswittel, with General Manfried Lapsburg (the Queen's uncle) returning to Karlstadt to take command of the Imperial Reserve Force.

Meanwhile, at least a division of the Imperial Reserves, mobilised around the capital Karlstadt, has been sent into south-eastern Mitrania to quell an expanding uprising led by the Kazulian-backed Liberation and Vengeance rebel group. In addition, a bounty of 1 million crowns has been put on the head of rebel leader Burun Gyuntā.

The Ministry of Defence also confirmed that they were investigating claims that Istalian agents were working with the rebels to help provide training and arms. The MoD said that two people of Istalian nationality had been arrested on suspicion of espionage and were helping the counter-intelligence officers from the Reichs Security Bureau (RSB) with their enquiries.

The uprising in Mitrania, is expected to put a considerable strain on the Hulstrian reserve as many units are also having to work with police and other security forces to quell violent protests, mainly involving Class C citizens, over Operation Human Shield.

Kongeforsvar halts advance in Hulstrian Heartland; Ceasefire to be negotiated.
Chief of Defence Staff calls halt to advance in Hulstria; Government agrees to ceasefire.
Image
Chief of Defence Staff General Reidar Valebrokk on the battlefield prior to announcing the halt of the Kongeforsvar's advance.
14th April, 4265

Around 0800 this morning, against a background of the Heinrich Line, General Reidar Valebrokk announced a halt in the army's advance into Hulstria. Defence Command announced that the Kongeforsvar was within striking distance of the Heinrich Line and was in the process of preparing assets for a harder push into the heartland when General Valebrokk ordered the halt in the advance. It has been reported by Hulstrian state media that Army Groups A and B had retreated to positions behind the Heinrich Line in anticipation for continued operations by the Kongeforsvar, thus leaving the northern sectors of the country to be carved up by the advancing Kongeforsvar. Defence Command stated that although they had not achieved their primary objective, almost all of the invasion's secondary objectives had been accomplished.

In the streets of Skalm, thousands of citizens have gathered to rejoice the quasi-end of the conflict which had resulted in a decisive Kazulian victory. Hundreds of thousands of Kazulians, flocked to the Ministry of Defence to greet Chief of Defence Staff Reidar Valebrokk, who had returned from the battlefield to discuss the conclusion of the conflict with the Statsminister. Nordmark, although Statsminister and the second most important individual in the country, said that this day was the day of the Defence Forces and those who sacrificed dearly to ensure the survival of the nation and that those who were killed during the Hulstrian crusade, were avenged through an invasion of the Hulstrian homeland. King Arvid II, announced his intention to propose a Royal Decree which would mark this day "Sigr (Victory)" to remember the efforts made by the people in ensuring the nation's survival.

Statsminister Robert Nordmark announced that he had ordered diplomatic missions of Kazulia across terra to announce the nation's intention for a ceasefire. He stated that he intends on personally going to the World Congress to announce his government's intention for a formal ceasefire and hopefully a peace agreement with the Hulstrians. Currently the army is gathering equipment left by the retreating Hulstrians to be placed in reserve and possibly in museums. General Valebrokk said
This nation has showed the international community that we are more than capable of ensuring our nation's defence against any and all external and internal threats. Our nation bares the mark of a nation that has shown the world, that it is capable of doing more than just defending its interests. On the prospect of a ceasefire,
I am awaiting a communique from Reichskanzler Otto-Mann on agreeing to the ceasefire.

With the conflict quasi-concluded, the Kingdom of Kazulia walks away with large sums of Hulstrian land, including the province of Hulstria and Northern Budenlar. It is hoped that the Dorvish peace process will pave the way for peace within the region.

REICHSKANZLER OUSTED IN MILITARY COUP

- Queen's Uncle, General Manfried von Lapsburg seizes power

- Otto-Mann removed after refusing to back down from conflict

Image
Removed from power... Heinrich Otto-Mann

Reichskanzler Heinrich Otto-Mann and his close circle of ministers have been removed in what is understood to be a military coup, after they refused to negotiate with Kazulia following a ceasefire.

It is believed the coup is led by General Manfried von Lapsburg, former Imperial Chief of Staff and Queen Beatrice II's uncle. As one of the most senior commanders in the country he had access to the inner circle of government and is believed to have plotted with opponents of Otto-Mann, who include former Foreign Secretary Reinhard Gladbacher.

After General Reidar Valebrokk, the Kazulian Chief of Staff, halted his troops within sight of the Heinrich Line and ordered a ceasefire there was hope that the bloodletting had stopped.

But almost immediately Otto-Mann announced to the nation that there would be no end to hostilities while Kazulian soldiers remained on Hulstrian soil. He ordered all functioning divisions to advance on enemy positions and "to drive them decisively and swiftly from the Crownlands". He also called for a new recruitment drive for young soldiers to begin immediately.

The first sign that his orders had not been followed came 24 hours later, when units were seen withdrawing from the defences. Then, overnight, a government press release was sent to all media outlets signed by General Lapsburg stating that Otto-Mann had stepped down from office with immediate effect and that senior military officers were carry out government operations.

It went onto say: "We can assure all Hulstrians that in the name of the Queen this country and its government are in safe hands. While we will not rest until this war is over and the rebellions have been quelled, we are open to peace negotiations so that our country may emerge from this conflict in the best shape possible.

"Have no fear that Hulstria is still a force to be reckoned with but we will not stand by while our soldiers are being thrown into battle for no gain or advantage. Until further notice the State of Emergency and curfews remain in place but we will look to review these as the situation becomes more stable.

God bless Her Majesty; God Bless Hulstria."

It is not known the whereabouts of Otto-Mann or his senior ministers and aides. Although it is believed they are being detained by officers of the Reich Security Bureau, who have sided with the military.

Statvinger Crisis: Hægeland takes Government role

As the public inquiry into the current situation in the northern provinces of the Crownlands - known in Kazulmark as Statvinger - continues, the tension on the border between Kazulmark and the Crownlands also continues to rise. With both nations' militaries massing troops one other side, it seemed only a matter of time before the two nations would once again collapse into war. Thankfully, however, it seems that words and cool heads are starting to win over rash actions.

Image
PA Leader Siri Hægeland addresses the press following discussions with Høyre

Following a brief discussion between the two party leaders, Høyre's Statsminister Torbjørn Normansson made the unprecedented decision to invite Progressiv Alliansen into the government as a grand coalition between the two opponents in order to better find a solution to the problem. This has seen PA leader Siri Hægeland elevated to the office of Foreign Minister, with direct responsibility to negotiate the deal between Kazulmark and the Crownlands. Following the meeting, she gave a brief statement to the press.

Myself and the Statsminister very rarely see eye to eye on matters of policy, and certainly this decision will not change that fact. However, I respect and applaud him for this decision to put the national interest, and indeed the regional interest, above party politics. I am honoured that he felt I was the best person for the job of negotiating this deal, and I can inform you now I am already in contact with the Foreign Minister of the Crownlands. I hope to make a visit South as soon as is convenient so that this matter can be put to rest for both of us, and we can carry on with the job of improving the lives of all our citizens.

This decision comes at a time when Progressiv Alliansen was already having a moment of soul searching following the collapse in scandal of the NA. Formed as a union of social democrats, social liberals and democratic socialists in response to the NA's polarising politics, the party has now found itself as the main opposition to Høyre and leaders of the left. What sort of impact this new Government role may have on the Party's vision of itself, or indeed the voters' opinion of it, only time will tell.
