After Friedrich Pfieffer's transcontinental hot air balloon flight ended with it crashing into the most hallowed landmark to socialists and communists worldwide, Thorben Schwenke, party official for the FDGB immediately planned a trip to Dosmund to give a public address on the matter. He commented that the incident was a tragedy to the preservation of Metz's legacy, but gives forgiveness to Pfieffer, owing that bad weather was a probable cause for the accident. Acknowledging his hospital stay, Herr Schwenke ensured that he was in the greatest care available to him from Dundorf's free healthcare system, and wished him a speedy recovery. Shifting away from Pfieffer, and addressing repairs on the tree, he urged that the government provide extensive landscaping services to restore the tree to as close as it resembled before. He argued that "Whatever political opinion the citizens of Dundorf hold, it is wholeheartedly agreed that the Metz tree is a significant national, and moreso international landmark. Our government should take the swiftest measures for restoration." Schwenke had further comments on the not so distant 2500th holiday of International Karlstein Metz Day in 4318, commenting:
"Our party officials have unanimously agreed to demonstrate our celebration for the 2500th anniversary of Metz's birth in the most appropriate of ways. Preparing years ahead, we wish to send an order for the Ransestadt Communist Workers Co-Operative, in Dorvik, to commission a massive statue of Metz to be built and placed in front of our party headquarters in Zerlin. We believe that tourism will soar upon it's completion, and on the 2500th anniversary as well, and attract socialists and communists the whole world over. Perhaps, in the distant future, our statue may become as significant as the tree itself."
Schwenke's speech ended with resounding applause, and he promptly returned to Zerlin.
