Full Statrican liberation close, Kalistani troops seen in Statrica

After days and months of fighting, the liberation of Statrica is now very close as Lourennais troops and Talmorian troops are now within miles out of the country's capital. Lourennais troops have been swiftly taking out small patches of final Statrican resistance in the center of the country and in the east near the capital. Continuous Kazulian airstrikes and swift night counter attacks have proved to be the ultimate downfall of Statrican defense. Counter attacks have been occurring late at night and at random times during the day. Lourennais troops have had no trouble defeating troops in the mountains near the Lourennais-Statrican border as a result of Lourenne's constant training in mountains and mountain slopes. Talmoria has also been effectively and successfully defeated most Statrican defenses in the eastern part of the nation. Almost all Statrican Resistance has been surrounded or close to being surrounded by Lourennais and Talmorian troops. Lourenne and Talmoria have already met in the southern peninsula and in the Northeast.Troops will no begin to move into the pockets of troops and slowly eliminate all resistance, however, casualties are expected to slowly rise after the final push. Besides success in the country, A Final plan is being drafted for the final battle in the capital. The Capital battle is expected to be very bloody and arduous. Troops will begin to siege the capital once the rest of the country has been deemed "liberated"

Talmorian troops, one night, uncovered a series tunnels being used by DU troops. Still uncertain of their use, troops entered the tunnels and were instantly met by DU troops and gunfire. Appalled at the use of the secret tunnels, troops completely assaulted the tunnels and ended the threat. However, assaulting the tunnels was not a good strategy for the international coalition. A new strategy was conducted one night to try to successfully eliminate any DU troops in tunnels. Keymonite troops were instructed to create noises amd movement outside the DU tunnels. This effectively caused Statrican troops to exit the tunnels and engage the Keymonites. As they exited the tunnels a large Artillery Barrage began on the area, hitting the ground next to the tunnels and on the over the tunnels. Following the barrage, a small airstrike came from the Kazulian air force helping in the area. The Kazulian airstrike, the best in the east, caused a significant amount of damage to the tunnels. Finally, a large, swift assault followed from Lourennais troops effectively killing any troop that was left from the airstrike and the barrage. Troops have also been using the Hutorian strategy to eliminate DU tunnels and have found it successful as well.

While Lourennais troops encircled Statrican troops in the mountains, troops claim that they saw Kalistani troops in a small camp at the base of the mountain. Lourennais troops decided not to open fire until night fell. No info has been received from what happened that night. (OOC:: saving it for the next post ;)) )All in Statrica and is now coming to a final close. Cooperation between Lourenne, Talmoria, Kazulia, and Keymon has been enough to successfully cripple DU forces in Statrica.

The Statrican Diaries
Day 31

Our new base was finished this week. Since losing the firebase, we've been on the go, and we've moved much deeper into the hills than we expected we would.

On the march to our new position, we came across several villages. We explained who we were and what we were doing: I of course did the talking and introduced myself as "Tanya", though I had the distinct feeling that at least a couple of the peasants were literate enough to recognize me, maybe from old pictures or something. At any rate, at some length, we acquired food and supplies, though the peasants in these parts were very apprehensive about selling us much. It seems that they are expecting the war to arrive at any moment, and are holding on to what little they had. And of course, the Statrican currency we had on us, this weird, purple scrip, was never enough to acquire what we do need.

With the approval of the other commanders, I've dispatched three dependable Comrades, Ivan, George and Sylvia, to the Capital City to try to get some more supplies. They've been gone for three days, but I imagine that things are tense around the capital.

In addition, we've asked them to secure a meeting with the Statrican Socialist Party, one of the little nascent political movements in Statrica. Shabazz was supposed to secure this before we left, but we've received no word from him.

We are coming up on the rainy season here in Statrica, which means that many of the roads in this part, if you can call them that, will quickly become impassable. It will mean we will also live in mud. Not much different, I suppose from back in Ananto during this time of year, but, this place is... well, lets say, it lacks the charms of home.

I secretly long to return home and play music. We allow the militias a very limited amount of music during the day: At night the sound travels for miles, and will give away our camp site quickly. Strict light discipline, strict noise discipline. Guerra only allows the Militia to smoke one day a week, and as for ODEN stuff, that's gone now.

Its really quite austere here, but for now, we are sitting in a well defended place, and at least have covered fighting positions which will keep us shielded from the relentless sun and Lourenne over flights. Morale seems high, though perhaps there is a few grumblings about home and chow... Same complaints all militia have all the time. At least we have cards to keep us occupied.

We engaged the Louis again two days ago. The rearguard of F platoon phoned in and let us know that that a platoon was coming up the road behind the patrol. Guerra ordered the rearguard to form a quick ambush and then catch up with rest. They did, and destroyed one five-ton. The rearguard counted six Louis casualties. But in return fire, Louis mortally wounded three of the Rear guard who had to drag them the twenty miles back to camp. They all three died yesterday. Louis, meanwhile, turned around and headed back. Our guys weren't spotted, laying low until it was sure that Louis was out of the area, and treating the wounded.

Such a result is becoming a little too common. 3 guys here, 5 a few days ago. Quinella Platoon, 3co was encircled and lost 7. Our guys had to strip them to keep Louis from finding anything on them. From now on, we go as Statricans, and we carry no identifying information on us. So if Louis kills our men, which they seem rather adept at doing, at least they are not able to determine where we're from. We've had far too many close calls.

Now, if only these hardheaded conservative peasants would get on board. They are a little too close to the Canrillaise, perhaps... when you ask them to do something, they say they will and then take their sweet time about it, hoping you will forget that you asked. Its a good thing we aren't here for them: If we had to defend this country for the people who lived here, the entire column would be demoralized entirely.

Tomorrow, Guerra, Filbert and Machado will join me in splitting the Column. I'm thinking threes, but It will be hard to maintain communication with three columns.

Sagana Eyes Kalkalistan

Image
Above: President Sagana, who enjoys high favourability ratings and the full support of the military.

For years, rumours of President T. Sagana's interest in getting Vanakalam involved in Kalkalistani affairs has swirled amid the process of rebuilding Vanakalam continues after the civil war. With many of the nation's troops occupied containing the enclave that has formed in Gaigram, a situation that lingers on with the port now defacto annexed by Hanzen - though left unusable due to a blockade, it might seem strange for Sagana to be posturing for what could potentially thin her troops even further. Between rebuilding and containment, how could she hope to affect Kalkalistan? Further to that point, Sagana's navy is also occupied in the blockade, and what's more is that such an invasion would probably be rebuffed by the international community. Kalkalistan is also around six times larger than Vanakalam However, in a hemisphere dominated by conflict, Sagana may hope that this little power grab flies under the radar for the time being.

Kalkalistan is currently governed by an alliance of 24 princes from the 24 principalities that comprise the nation. These principalities range from ethnically Kalam regions in the north which share heritage with Vanakalam, to Kalkali (comprised of Rajutti and Zaqrami subgroups), Ananti, Rajavanshi, Khoni and Bhapori princedoms throughout the centre, west, east and south of the nation. The plurality ethnic group the Kalkalis, a blend of several more finite ethnic varieties, currently have massive sway in the politics of the nation. The elected Emperor of Kalkalistan is a Rajutti prince from the island of Kayal by the name of Raghu Thakore, a corrupt leader who has overseen a collapse in the local economy. Thakore holds power thanks to a diplomatic marriage with the only female Princess of the 24 regions, Princess Lakshmi Thakore of Bhapor. Using corruption, this marriage and the loyalty of his fellow Kalkali princes, he has seized power.

Yet he is deeply unpopular in the principalities that voted against him. Kalam and Khoni Kalkalistanis despise the prince for his corruption, and dream of overthrowing him. In a continent already riddled with war, Sagana may hope that she can ignite a new conflict on her continent, this time of her own choosing and to her own benefit. The border prince Varuthesh of Ashitha has already been noted to have met with Vanakalam officials. The issue in invading Kalkalistan and institution regime change is ultimately the size and diversity of it. Though its army has been let to rust after many years of peace, the nation's six main ethnic groups and 24 princes with different loyalties and goals all combine to create a messy picture. Fighting over one of the largest nations on Terra would be difficult, but rumour has it as many as seven princes are ready to rebel with Vanakalamese help. All the signs point to yet another bloody conflict.

Northern Council Completes Liberation of Temania; Makes Moves Towards Tropica

Hutorian lead Northern Council forces have completed their campaign in Temania after several gruelling years and an intense campaign that is likely to fester for years yet, even as the conventional campaign has concluded it's become increasingly clear the DU's guerilla forces will not be backing down.

Third Army, spearheaded by the Hutorian 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions, finished their long drive along the continental coast, under constant air and naval support by the Nortern Council's Dovani Southern Operations Fleet. The lack of built up terrain that could have offered the DU Army their usual advantage in guerilla combat, worked against DU forces defending the coast, forcing it into a conventional campaign that was constantly run up against the hardcore professional Marines, allowed a steady advance, the sheer size of the continent alone slowing during the methodical campaign that constantly pushed forward. The completion of that campaign has put the Third Army across the water from Tropica, which up this point had remained untouched, omniously within striking distance of the Northern Council Airpower. The point was further reinforced when IV Airborne Corps was transferred down south, for a possible airborne landing across the Straits.

Second Army in the centre, anchored and reinforced by the powerful striking power of the Hutorian hardy Leopard 2H6E Main Battle Tanks of the 2nd and 10th Armoured Divisions, pushed forward to the Temanian capital, taking it in a harsh engagement, in coordination with the IV Airborne Corps and ground troops given by the New Aldurian Defence Force. Second Army's control of the capital ended the Pro-DU government, though its expected protests will be continuing for sometime.

First Army on the western flank meanwhile pushed down and finished the western sweep towards the capital, leaving behind the 7th Mountain and 14th Infantry Divisions and litany of special forces units to clear out the mountain in a long and grinding campaign. First Army has reinforced Second at the capital, while the forces in the mountains have continued the long and arduous campaign the mountains.

While the conventional campaign has long dissipated resistance has long not been dismissed. While the northern, western and eastern portions of the nation is entirely under Northern Council control, along with the entire coastal region, resistance has continued in the western mountains, and its well known that the DU control vast swathes of the southern jungles where guerilla attacks have continued unabated. Hutori has responded with the deployment of an additional 115,000 troops, resulting the largest deployment of Hutorian ground forces in history, with most of the nation now under direct occupation.

Supreme Commander Temania, General David Ashcroft has stated unequivically that this campaign is but the first phase, but it will take a significant amount of time before Temania ever simmers down.

The Statrica Diaries
Day 47

More setbacks.

The Statrican socialists have failed to come through. The three we sent to the capital were unable to convince even a representative to come back with them. They had indeed received Shabazz's telegram, but had failed to heed it. After all the Party has done for them, and their response was: "It is too dangerous to make contact with Tonya now, perhaps when the rainy season ends." We'll be waiting for 3 more months now before they'll even send a representative out to see us. What an utter disappointment.

With their refusal, I should say, recalcitrance, has come a hand written message from Comrade Jean-Michel: "Guerrilla warfare is not the Statrican way." Well, that is painfully obvious. It is said we must be to the people as a fish is to water, but so far the only people we have come across out here on these rocks is the occasional herder. In the valleys about a dozen or so miles from here you can find a village, but under no circumstances can we fool the people there any longer. We are obviously not Statrican, our Canrillaise lets the people know we are not Lourennaise. Its clear that most of the people haven't worked out yet where we are from, but rumors are swirling around about hundreds of "les étrangers" in the hills. If Louis are seen anywhere near the village, our goose will be cooked.

Moral seems low. The militia itches for something to do, but for a while now, this zone has been quiet, as most of the fighting is taking place to our south. We hit two small patrols last week: One was Louis, and we killed one man, but didn't capture any of their weaponry, so the action was almost a complete loss of ammunition, and another seemed to be Statrican National guardsmen who are busy defecting. They put up a much more determined fight than the Louis, for sure. The ambush heard them shout, in broken Canrillaise, "We're with you, you morons. We're coming out to surrender." By the time the firefight was over, 14 National guardsmen surrendered to Gomez' squad of the 2nd Pt. 3rd Co.

When they found out that Gomez and his men didn't want them to surrender, the Guards were flummoxed. Gomez explained to them that they shouldn't surrender to Louis, because those imperialists were there to colonize their country, and it ended up turning into a shouting match. The Lieutennant in charge of the Guards pulled out his side arm and aimed it at Gomez. Willie shot him through the head, and then asked any of the other Statrican Guards if they wanted to surrender. All 13 of them said no, and were stripped of their weapons, and sent back to their post. That was a bit of a bonanza, and we not only acquired 14 rifles and 3 pistols, but more than 750 rounds of ammunition and a Statrican code book.

But most of the time, the guys sit in their covered fighting holes and play cars. I'm trying to get Guerra to send them out on more Patrols, but his answer is "Not while its raining." Never while its raining. Its always raining it seems. Its rained for a week and a half.

The trail to the camp from the latrine facilities has turned into something of a stream, due to the near saturation of the ground. If it gets much worse, and we have to hike through a river to use the bathroom, we may have to move the facilities.

With rain comes mosquitoes.

Yesterday, We finally got word from Filbert's column. They had received heavy fire and had suffered significant casualties as they made their way south toward the Statrican Free Territories between Louis Controlled Statrica, and the parts held by Talmoria. Filbert said something like one in 15 were dead or wounded, and he had to create a platoon just to get the wounded off the field. Machado had fared a bit better as he made his way inland, to open up an eastern front. But we have yet to have an update from the Old Man.

I wish I had gone with Machado. Guerra only contradicts me in front of the troops. It is embarrassing, and I am of half a mind to relieve her. But what would that do for morale?

I miss Kalistan. I'll send a message to Kalistan tomorrow via Donaldson. Hopefully, they will actually commit to sending more Rubles and more men. Nearly two months in, and we seem to be in a holding pattern. If Guerra runs me down again, I'll relieve her, and we'll start making plans to move off this wretched mountain.

Valruzian troops arrive in Lourennais-occupied Statrica to oversee peacekeeping operations, await further orders from Lourenne
26 October, 4430

Image
A Valruzian patrol carries a wounded member off after a limited engagement with insurgents.

Today Valruzian forces have finally arrived in the to assist in the Dovani war, after spending years as a Northern Council member and largely being in the dark in terms of contributions. Defense Minister and General Wawro arrived to oversee troop organization and various command structures. Field journalists were able to ask him brief questions before he shooed them away. From what reporters could gain, he stated that the purpose of their engagements in Statrica were to "hold the fort" until insurgent forces issue a formal surrender. As such, Valruzian troops have already seen limited engagements near the border regions still held by insurgents, but these are likely to be quashed in the coming weeks.

Off-duty soldiers in some of the less busy areas were often quick to speak to reporters about their experiences. Andrzej Bekowski, a corporal in the Land Forces stated "There isn't much to do here. Just business as usual in these types of situations. Patrol, break, and patrol some more. It may be boring, but I welcome our government finally taking a stance in this conflict." Many kicked a football in their spare time, chatted about shows back home, and theorized about what the next album from the Beat Brothers might entail. One soldier stated "We're resting easy right now until that old codger Wawro relays us an order from the Lourennais chain of command. Yeah, there's some firefights here and there, but that's part of the job description, isn't it?"

Airstrikes rock Breznica as Lourenne, Talmoria siege the capital city, Kalistanis found and killed in mountains.

31st October, 4430

Kazulian and Lourennais Airstrike in Breznica (below)
Image
All is coming to an end in Statrica. The Lourennais and Kazulian air forces began a swift and powerful airstrike on the capital city late at night. Little to almost no air resistance occured during the airstrike. The airstrikes occured mainly on the east side of the city and near the city's center. While airstrikes occured, the Lourennais army in the north of the city entered the capital through the north and north west. Talmorian troops entered through the south and south east. Troops finally surrounded the capital city before the airstrikes began, therefore, there is no escape for any DU troops in the city. As soon as Lourenne and Talmoria entered the capital, they were instantly faced by heavy fire from Soldiers and sometimes from armed citizens. Casualties in the first hour of the invasion have been in the thousands for Talmoria and Lourenne, but higher for Statrica. Tanks, armored vehicles, and transport vehicles instantly entered the city and began attacking troops hidden in buildings and small alleyways. The capital, flooded with DU troops, has been easy for some Lourennais troops because of the quickly deteriorating morale of Statrican troops and citizens. Battle is expected to continue throughout the next weeks and is expected to slowly amd painfully progress.

After a small skirmish late at night in the mountains near the Lourennais border, a small group of 35 men stumbled upon a small camp at the base of one of the mountains. At around midnight, Lourennais troops entered the camp and opened fire on the people in the camp since they were not troops from Talmoria or Kazulia. After gunfire ended, according to a soldier, all foreigners at the camp were immediately presumed dead except for a couple of men who escaped and fled. After investigating the camp, troops found a series for journals named "Statrican Diaries". After troops read the journals, the Lourennais group realized that they surprisingly tumbled upon a Kalistani camp and had killed most of the people in it. Shocked at what had just resulted, leader of the 35 man group Iztalal Metaine, noticed that among the group was ex-president of Kalistan Ana Barajas, ex-Foreign Minister Orenthal Williams, Ex Defense Minister, Santamaria and former LAFA commander Maria Bjornsdottir. The group of men picked up the several journals that were acquired and decided to immediately travel to Eroncourt where things would hopefully come to make sense.

Vanakalam-Backed Rebellion Occurs In Kalkalistan
October 4430

Image
Above: Khoni Prince Kaysan Jethani of Rajan Principality, who has led the rebels.

With the military and financial support of Vanakalam, a sudden and rapid shattering of intranational relations has occurred within the fractured and diverse ethnic patchwork of Kalkalistan. Kohni Prince Kaysan Jethani of Rajan Principality spoke to his own subjects and those of seven other regions of the 24-principality-nation, whose leaders had allowed him to broadcast his message. Prince Kaysan IV told his fellow Khoni and their Ananti cousins, as well as northern Kalkalistanis related to the Vanakalamese people, that the leadership of eastern Rajutti Prince Raghu Thakore of Kayal - crowned Emperor Raghu III after his election - was too corrupt for the fabric of the nation to continue as it is. In solidarity with the Vanakalamese people, he concluded, the best course of action was to unite the Vascanian people under ultimately democratic leadership with a confederated personal union.

This option would see the nations join in what is natively referred to as the "Vasakana League", after the native name for the continent. Prince Kaysan told his people that it would result in a more unified nation as a whole that would have strong leadership and new ideas, and announced his alliance with internationally controversial Vanakalamese leader President T. Sagana. The rebellion was quickly escalated from words into action, however, soon after Prince Kaysan spoke. Those disaffected with the leadership of Emperor Raghu III rose up across the country, particularly in the non-Rajutti western regions, causing mass riots with hundreds of police and protesters killed and tens of thousands injured. Mass-anarchy spilled into the streets as protesters used makeshift household items to go out into the streets and beat to death agents of the government. It was bloody and swift, but now the pro-Raghu military have shot down these protests.

Kalkalistan, the world's most populous nation and it's third largest by land mass, was soon plunged into open civil war. The fractured federation split cleanly into camps of different soldiers and people loyal to certain princes, who have mainly openly chosen a side on this civil war. Seven princes are decidedly anti-Raghu, thirteen are decidedly pro-Raghu. Four princes, however - all Ananti or Rajavanshi, have not yet announced their support in the new war. As the loyal militias of each sovereign and decided prince get into battle-lines and prepare for war, the scramble is on for emissaries to charm the undecided princes. The veteran Vanakalamese troops who won their civil war years ago have entered into the northernmost tenth of Vanakalam, setting up shop in the areas dominated by related people ethnically and a few areas even controlled by Rajutti princes supportive of Raghu. The 24 principalities have been plunged into war, so will experience from Vanakalam and zealous ethnic divides triumph over a well-manned and grounded regime?

Xsampa National Gazzete
——————————————————————————————————————————————————
King Wangdue Announces Withdrawl From Dovani Union and Withdraw from the Dovani War

April 4430-In a national press conference King Wangdue has announced that the Xsampan-Hanzen Kingdom will formally withdraw from the Dovani Union and will meet with Northern Council Leaders to negotiate peace.
Friends and Allies, today we have two very large announcement. Firstly we’ve officially left the Dovani Union.

The Dovani Union is dying and is harming Xsampa. The Dovani Union is losing and losing hard. The Dovani Union has had two of its members invaded and has lost millions of men to maintain territory we are bound to lose due to 1st world superiority. However if we negotiate now we could get favorable terms that would benefit all nations involved.

Secondly we’re now opening a conference to address peace with the Northern Council and New Alduria. Lhasa, our capital city, will be the meeting place for this peace conference and we openly invite all enemy nations to participate in this conference so peace and stability can be established in Dovani.

Thank you.

Later an informant told us that Prime Minister Baphimooh was furious at this decision and was openly cursing at King Wangdue. King Wangdue then, according to this report, punched PM Baphimooh, told him he was fired, and then left with his personal guard. Later it was reported more noises were heard from the Imperial Palace, that sounded like yelling however both of these cannot be confirmed at the moment.

Operation Fire Storm (Liberation Of Ntoto) close to end. Valruzians arrive in Statrica, finish off final defenses/resistance.

4th November 4430

Artillery Piece firing at Ntoto camps (below)
Image

After starting with instant success and the correct use of tactics, Ntoto has been falling to Talmorian troops in the North and Lourennais troops to the south and west in another liberation coined Operation Fire Storm. Months after the initial invasion of Statrica, Lourennais command in Eroncourt planned an invasion of Ntoto during the Statrican invasion to facilitate Operation Eagle. Once landing on the West coast of the country, Lourennais troops found the coast very poorly defended. Crumbling fortifications and undertrained troops were the only troubles that Lourenne had on the coasts. After clearing most of the coast, troops traveled inland swiftly and with speed. Guided by very successful and deadly Kazulian airstrikes, the road to liberate Ntoto was made very easy. Night raids and heavily defended cities were the only thing the Lourennais army was troubled with.

In the north, Talmoria had a few difficult battles in their way. The Ntoto-Talmorian border was heavily defended by large Ntoto fortifications that the Talmorians had trouble to get over. The Talmorians, at first, attacked head on but had no success because of the amount of troops Ntoto's army had at the border. Late at night, a full Talmorian counter-attack took place. Talmorian infantry set up in front of the large fortifications and their infantry was set up in order to flank the troops at the border. At 2 in the morning, The Kazulian airforce rocked the fortifications and the Talmorian artillery heavily bombarded the fortifications as well. Then to finish the job, The Talmorians flanked around the line of fortifications to surrounded and effectively eliminate all troops. Tge Talmorians have now begun their march south and to the coast to meet up with Lourennais troops.

A few days ago, the Valruzian army arrived in Statrica to help Lourenne with peacekeeping motivates in the country. The Valruzians arrived through Statrica by the Sea and crossed through Lourenne on land. Under Lourennais command, the Valruzians have immediately set up multiple camps around Statrica and have begun to eliminate final patches of resistance and small defenses that remained from the initial invasion of Statrica. Claude Deschamps, current head of the Lourennais forces on Statrica explained that: "Valruzian troops have been taking out the last ditch resistance that the Statricans have put up since the war began and they will be setting up camps to deliver and provide humanitarian aid to those who are in need." The Valruzians will finally neutralize the country and its last defenses in order to keep Statrica "DU free" once the capital battle is over and Statrica is liberated.

More to come.
