OOC: Potential future Terran Olympic Games - Survey

OOC: I am just checking whether the idea od RP'ing the Terran Olympic Games would be something you'd all like to participate in. Please leave your response below.

Just as a quick note, maybe Moderation would move this to General Discussion, I think most out-of-character threads make more sense in that section.

I would be in favour of some kind of Terran Olympics but I would recommend avoiding any kind of in-game mechanism for justifying it (i.e. a treaty for competing countries). If this is something that you are interested in, I would just gather some interested players and go ahead and write some role-play around it. On and off, I've been pursuing a similar course with an in-game football world cup and it seems to have attracted little controversy and decent player engagement.

Curiosity on how to decide on the Winners of events? RNG?

When I RP'ied 4380 Olympics in Nowogard I used the numerical randomizer.

I think a mix of randomization and perhaps some consideration of the country's national sport (if a country's national sport is fencing, for instance, perhaps they would place rather high in fencing?) or a sport which has been RPed in the country in the recent past would be best.

Provided that the individual in question does not blatantly skew the results in favour or against particular countries, I think simply determining them based on a mixture of role-play, real-life equivalents, engagement, and other relevant factors would be a fine system. Certainly that's what I've tried to do with the football rankings and the World Cup results.

I would say Likatonia is interested, but everything is skewed against us, so I am not (just venting)
