Name of the Law/Policy: Freedom of information law
Law/Policy Category: Civil liberties

Options:

1. Classified files are released after a set period of time.
2. Classified files are released after a set period of time provided doing so is not deemed to endanger national security.
3. Classified files are released after a set period of time provided doing so is not deemed to be against the public interest.
4. Classified files are only released at the discretion of the government.


Implemented.

For the time being, this law will appear near the top of the 'Laws of the Land' page under the 'Unsorted' category, with "(NEW)" in front of its description. Later on, the "(NEW)" will be removed and the law will be filed under the "Civil liberties" category.

Name of the Law/Policy: Regulation of advertising of substances classified as addictive and harmful (if the sale is legal)
Law/Policy Category: Health

Options:

1) Advertising is legal and unregulated.
2) Advertising is restricted.
3) Advertising is restricted and has to carry strong warning messages.
4) Advertising is banned.
5) Policy on advertising is determined by local governments.


Implemented. As with the previous new law, this will begin in the 'Unsorted' category with "(NEW)" in front of its description.

Suggesting a few policies

Name: Electronic petitions ("e-petitions").
Law / Policy Category: Administrative

1. E-petitions are banned.
2. E-petitions are legal but the government has no specific policy on responding to them.
3. The government must formally respond to an e-petition if it receives more than a certain number of signatures.
4. The legislature must set aside time to debate an e-petition if it receives more than a certain number of signatures.

Name of the Law/Policy: Government policy on airports
Law/Policy Category: Infrastructure
1. The government owns and operates all airports.
2. The government has some involvement in the ownership and operation of airports, but leaves a role for the private sector too.
3. The government leaves airports entirely to the private sector.
4. Airports are banned.

Name of the Law/Policy: Policy on incest
Law/Policy Category: Moral

Options:
1. All incest is Illegal.
2. Incestuous acts liable to result in pregnancy are illegal.
3. Incestuous relationship are legal.
4. Policy on incest is determined by local governments.
5. The government has no policy on incest.

Name of the Law/Policy: Appointing ministers of religion
Law/Policy category: Religion

1. The state appoints all heads and other ministers of all religions.
2. The state appoints the head and ministers of the state religion, but does not intervene otherwise.
3. The state nominates ministers of religion, but the appointment is left up to the religious communities themselves.
4. The state has the right to veto the appointment of any ministers of religion.
5. The state does not intervene in the appointment of ministers of any religion whatsoever.


An amendment to this law has been implemented.

Submitting for approval

Name of the Law/Policy: The use of animals in medical research.
Law/Policy Category: Science

Options:
1)Animals may not be used for any research.
2)Animal research projects must apply for a license and submit to regulation.
3)The use of animals in research is subject to basic regulations.
4)Animals cannot be used for Human-related experiments.
5)There are no restrictions on the use of animals for research.

Effects:
1-3 and 5) as previously
4) More environmental, more liberal, more regulations

3. Incestuous acts are legal, but incestuous marriages are not legally recognised.
4. Incestuous acts are legal and incestuous marriages are legally recognised.
5. Policy on incest is determined by local governments.

Options:
1) Judges are elected by the public.
2) Judges are elected by the legislature.
3) Judges are appointed by the executive but must be approved by the legislature.
4) Judges are appointed by the executive without reference to the legislature.
5) Judges are appointed by other judges and/or legal experts.
6) Judges are selected using methods determined by local governments.

Effects:
1) Increase in civil rights and small gov't.
2) Small increase in civil rights and small gov't.
3) Neutral.
4) Small decrease in civil rights, small increase in big gov't.
5) Small decrease in civil rights, small increase in small gov't.
6) Increase in devolution.

(I maintain that this does not need to be a constitutional law.)
