Name of the Law/Policy: Detention before charge
Law/Policy Catagory: Justice or Civil Rights

Options:
1. Individuals can only be detained for a set time period (eg. 24 hours) before being charged.
2. Individuals can only be detained for a set time period (eg. 24 hours) before being charged, unless the police obtain a warrant from a court to extend the period of detention without charge.
3. Individuals can be detained indefinitely without being charged.

Effects:
1. Increase in civil rights.
2. Slight increase in civil rights.
3. Major decrease in civil rights

Law/Policy Catagory: Justice

Options:
1. Solitary confinement is never permitted.
2. Solitary confinement is used temporarily as a disciplinary measure.
3. Only dangerous inmates can be put in solitary confinement.
4. Solitary confinement is used at the discretion of the warden.
5. All inmates are put in solitary confinement.
6. Local governments decide policy regarding solitary confinement.

Effects:
1. Increase in civil rights.
2. Slight decrease in civil rights.
3. Slight decrease in civil rights.
4. Decrease in civil rights.
5. Major decrease in civil rights.
6. Increase in devolution.

Law/Policy Catagory: Justice or Civil Rights

Options:
1. The right to trial by jury does not exist.
2. Only serious cases are tried by a jury.
3. All cases must be tried by a jury.
4. All cases are tried by a jury, unless the defendant requests otherwise.
5. Local governments will determine whether or not cases are tried by juries.

Effects:
1. Decrease in civil rights.
2. No change.
3. Increase in civil rights.
4. Increase in civil rights.
5. Increase in devolution.

All laws have either now been implemented or rejected. Look forward to seeing what else you guys can come up with.

Could we perhaps get two sub-forums, one for laws which have been approved and ones that have been denied? So we know what we can change in-game?

Law/Policy Catagory: Economics

Options:
1) The exchange rate of the national currency is fixed by the government.
2) The exchange rate of the national currency is kept within a defined band of fluctuation.
3) The exchange rate of the national currency is allowed to float, but the government is permitted to intervene when necessary.
4) The exchange rate of the national currency is allowed to float, and the government does not intervene at all.

Effects:
1) Major increase in government responsibilities, major increase in regulation.
2) Increase in government responsibilities, increase in regulation.
3) No effect.
4) Decrease in government responsiblities, decrease in regulation.

Options:
1) The organ trade is illegal; only donations that are not for financial gain are permitted.
2) The organ trade is legal and regulated.
3) The organ trade is legal and unregulated.
4) All live organ donors (or their next of kin if they are deceased) are automatically compensated by the government.
5) This issue is left to local governments.

Effects:
1) Increase in gov. responsibilities.
2) Small increase in gov. responsibilities.
3) Decrease in gov. responsibilities.
4) Increase in gov. responsbilities.
