I've searched the forums for a similar law suggestion and I found one from 2011, but a template was never created. As Democratic Workers' Councils are already represented in the game, then the matter of workplace democracy is already settled. I still feel, however, that we need a way to legislate about worker-OWNED cooperatives and not just the matter of workplace democracy. In order to make the law more clear that it is about the ownership scheme, it will use the term "worker-owned cooperative" instead of just cooperative.
The government's position on worker-owned cooperatives
Option 1: Worker-owned cooperatives are illegal
Effect 1: small decrease in civil rights, moderate increase in government responsibilities, moderate increase in regulation
Option 2: The government does not have an opinion on the matter of worker-owned cooperatives. (standard)
Effect 2: small decrease in government responsibilities, small decrease in regulation
Option 3: The government actively encourages and subsidizes companies run as worker-owned cooperatives
Effect 3: moderate increase in government responsibilities
Option 4: Worker-owned cooperatives are the only recognized company type
Effect 4: large increase in government responsibilities
Option 5: Local governments decide on worker-owned cooperatives
Effect 5: moderate increase in devolution
Notes:
I'd really like this option as my own party (who follows the socioeconomic doctrine of Distributism) encourages the formation of worker cooperatives, but other than the DWC laws, there are no ways of encouraging cooperatives and none at all to encourage worker ownership! I'm sure many socialist parties would agree with me...
