What you guys think about the possibility on voting on trials by jury ?
I know no news will law will added and am very deceived by this but still. we can debate

This is the suggestion.

1 Name of Law: Right of a Trial by Jury

Category: Judicial

Options:

1. Individuals accused of any crime are entitled to a jury trial.
2. Individuals accused of serious crimes (defined in bill) are entitled to a jury trial.
3. Only certain individuals accused of any crime are entitled to a jury trial.
4. Only certain individuals accused of serious crimes are entitled to a jury trial
5. No one is allowed a trial by jury.
6. Local government decided about who are entitled to a trial by jury

********************************************************
2 Name of Law: Selection of a Jury (if jury trials are allowed)

Category: Judicial

Options:

1. Jurors are chosen randomly from the population.
2. Jurors are selected based on certain factors (race/gender/class).
3. Jurors are choosen among lawyers only.
4. Jurors are choosen by a political way for a political purpose
5. Local government decided about this

************************************************
3 New Law: Obligation to serve on a jury(if trial by jury is legal)

Category: Judicial

Options:

1. All adult citizens are required to serve on a jury when called.
2. All adult citizens are required to serve when called or obtain a formal exemption.
3. Any adult may volunteer to serve on a jury, they are not required to.
4. Local government decided about this.

So what are your though ?

I think you should add a local government option for each category. But the rest of it looks great!

I'll link to the original proposal here, since it seems there have been a few changes: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=416363

I think the local government options are good for each of these laws. When I originally wrote it up I thought there might be one too many options, but I guess there is some demand for such options.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what these two options entail. For 3, does that mean only lawyers can be jurors or that jurors are chosen by lawyers without any intervention? For 4, does this mean that jurors would be elected? I think that would be interesting. Also, in the original I had that juries could be hired and trained, which would essentially make it a profession rather than a rare obligation (if trial by jury is allowed, that is).
