I was meant to propose this a while back but I kept forgetting.

Name of the Law/Policy: Government Policy on Selective Education
Category: Education

Options:
1) Grammar schools are not allowed.
2) Grammar schools are allowed.
3) Only grammar schools are allowed in the nation.
4) Local governments decide policy regarding grammar schools in the region.

Effects:
1) Increase in Unitarianism, Small Decrease in Gov. Responsibilities
2) Increase in Unitarianism, Increase in Gov. Responsibilities
3) Increase in Unitarianism, Increase in Gov. Responsibilities
4) Increase in Federalization, Decrease in Gov. Responsibilities

Any thoughts on this? And ideas for improvements

Grammar schools is a pretty British-only term to my knowledge. Selective schools might be a better choice?

You raise a good point there, selective schools would probably be a better choice of word yeah.

What is a grammar school exactly? Is it a school just for upper class people, or a school that only accepts students with very good grades?

A grammar school is a school that needs an entry exam in Britain.

Specifically, an 11+ exam, taken at the end of primary school. More info here.

Technically some grammar schools have their own entry exams, e.g. Reading Grammar Boys' School (where I currently attend)

According to their website,
'There will be other schools that will be using the same tests as Reading School. If your son takes our test after this date and is found to have taken the same test, then we will use the raw scores from the first test he took, even if it was at another school.

Given you attend a grammar school, and I know my own views on them, I think it's probably best this conversation doesn't go too much further ;)

Forgot about this. I take on board grammar schools are a relatively British term, so I'll amend the proposal to a different term.

I think it's a good proposal.
