Law Drafting Comitee - Political Education Law

Postby FPC » Sun Jul 30, 2017 2:44 pm

Our proposal for a law concerning political education:

The government’s position on political education.

Options:
1- The Government requires all secondary school students to receive a basic, un-biased political education.
2- The Government requires all secondary school students to receive an advanced political education, biased towards the government and its policies.
3- The Government requires all secondary schools to offer political education classes, however attendance is not compulsory.
4- The Government does not allow any form of political education
5- The National Government leaves political education policy to Local Governments.

Effects:
1) ++progressive +big gov
2) +conservative ++big gov
3) +progressive +permissive
4) +restrictive +conservative
5) +devolution

This is a really great idea. I can't wait to see it placed in the game.

I think that number 3 should be written as: "The Government does not require secondary school students to receive a political education, but actively encourages it"

I would also suggest that you split "The Government requires all secondary school students to receive an advanced political education" and the "biased towards the government and its policies." into two policies. This would also mean taking the biased part out of the first part. Don't feel like you have to change it, but in my opinion, the law would look good a bit like this:

1 "The Government requires all secondary school students to receive a basic political education"
2 "The Government requires all secondary school students to receive an advanced political education"
3 "The Government requires all secondary school students to receive a political education that is biased towards the government"
4 "The Government does not require secondary school students to receive a political education, but actively encourages it"
5 "The Government does not allow any form of political education"
6 "The Government leaves political education policy to Local Governments."

Effects:

1: +Progressive, +Big Gov
2: ++Big Gov
3: +Conservative, ++Big Gov
4: +Small Gov, +Progressive
5: +Restrictive, +Conservative
6: +Devolution

Between the two options for Article 3, the displayed one seems to give more "liberty", while the suggested shows more active implication by the Government in the school teaching, at least for me...

Anyway, this is a great law!

Yes, now that I read again it, I think that it is better split the advanced education between one biased and one unbiased.

But about the 3 I prefer the first proposal

:oops:
Please see my post in the music lessons law topic -- something extremely similar applies here, please.

The situation is a little better here than it was there, because at least here there's
4 "The Government does not require secondary school students to receive a political education, but actively encourages it"

... but nevertheless I feel that we could still use an option where the government really doesn't care one way or the other and is totally uninvolved in this, like I recommended in the other topic, please.

Thank you :)

I support also here the uninvolvement option. A --big government (or ++small government)
