Utari Mosir capitulates
August, 4626

The Democratic Republic of Utari Mosir has officially announced capitulation earlier this morning. President of the Democratic Republic of Utari Mosir Yakov Akahito announced that he had signed an unconditional surrender to Ostlandic forces on the morning of August 2nd, 4626. The terms of the unconditional surrender are not precisely known but it is known that President Akahito will stand trial for war crimes committed against Ostlandic citizens and soldiers. Members of the Ostlandic intelligence and security community have also discovered information regarding summary executions of soldiers for failure to be "politically unreliable" or "politically unmotivated". Ostland will also be granted permission over the island of Kamphon and it will continue to expand its naval base in Kamphon, a hotly contested island in the Sea of Carina. The Democratic Republic of Utari Mosir will also cease to exist as a functioning political unit and will be replaced with the "Republic of Utari Mosir".

Grand Duke Florian II spoke in Wolfsheim regarding the surrender and called it a "...better day for Ostland and stability for Dovani. The new Republic of Utari Mosir will stand fast underneath the leadership of Prime Minister Suto Kanjiro, a close ally of the Grand Duke and was educated in the Touryou State in southern Ostland. The new Republic of Utari Mosir will be closely watched underneath the eyes of the Ostlandic administration known as the "State Commissariat Nord-Carina" and its State Commissioner Karsten Tugendhat, a member of the Eastern Land Council serving in the Political Leadership Corps of the VDKV. While Utari Mosir is underneath the command and control of the Ostlandic government, it will undergo a careful transformation. State Commissioner Tugendhat announced that the Ostland Railway will be expanded into Utari Mosir, giving it a chance to modern infrastructure.

Continued violence in Utari Mosir in post-Democratic Republic era
September, 4631

Yakubetsu, Republic of Utari Mosir - The Security Service of the Volksdundorfische Cultural Association has earned a fierce reputation in the wake of the Utari Mosir capitulation. Underneath Supreme Security and Police Leader Obergruppenführer Reinhard von Göthaus, an ethnic Dorvish citizen, has become a noted leader in the State Commissariat "Nord-Carina". The Security Service, alongside Ostlandic State Police and intelligence forces, have worked to handle the insurgency that has risen up following the capitulation in Utari Mosir in August of 4626, nearly 6 years later the fight continues to rage on. Ostland has expanded its military presence in Utari Mosir and had made leaps and bounds with re-building the failed state. Despite difficulties, State Commissioner Karsten Tugendhat has taken his place as an effective leader and a builder of bridges, he has worked closely with Prime Minister Suto Kanjiro to build an effective government that has representation from across the Utari Mosir population. The State Commissariat will continue to oversee Utari Mosir for the foreseeable future, its mandate extended by the Eastern Land Council until at least 4650. The Ostlandic State Railways has expanded its project across Utari Mosir and the first major component of the new Utari Mosir Railway has been completed, connecting the eastern coast of Utari Mosir to the capital of Cise which then connects to a railway heading south, connecting to Wolfsheim. The Director of Department VIII, the department responsible for Infrastructure and Building, Felix Binder has stated that the connections are important to the growth of the Utari economy and connecting the eastern coast to the heart of the country, its capital Cise, is important to building the necessary foundations of the state.

While the Utari Mosir Railway has been a success, not all ventures in Utari Mosir have enjoyed the same flourishing. Utari Mosir is largely a agricultural society and the implementation of modern farming practices have been resisted by a large majority of Utari Mosir farmers. Despite overtures and statistics showed by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Mosirak farmers have revolted against such practices. The "Mosirak Farmers Alliance" has taken up arms at several points against the fledgling Mosriak government and the Ostlandic liberators. In a series of hit and run tactics from September 4626 through October 4629, the Mosriak Farmers Alliance killed nearly 150 Mosriak troops and 25 Ostlandic soldiers and police. The Security Service of the VDKV was brought in, alongside Ostlandic intelligence forces and the group was undermined and eventually its leaders were brought to the Supreme Court in Cise for their crimes against the state. Despite this, the Mosriak Farmers Alliance gained traction and have aligned closely with the Rural Peasants Party, which is an underground agricultural socialist party that is outlawed. Prime Minister Suto Kanjiro has called upon the people involved to come forward and air their grievances with the new Utari Mosir government instead of conflict. Despite all this, agriculture has spiked in recent years since the end of open hostilities in January, 4630.

Despite failings in the largest economic sector in Utari Mosir, the building of infrastructure has given rise to a boost in manufacturing heavy equipment to fulfill such driven requests in Utari Mosir. The rise of several prominent cities which are mostly located in the western portion of the country have given way to a new economic corridor in the west. While Cise has been the capital of the country as a whole, the State Commissariat has taken up its residence in the new western hub of Yakubetsu which has become the administrative capital of the country, at least for the State Commissariat "Nord-Carina".

New State Chancellor sworn in
January, 4637

Wolfsheim - Ostland Chief of the General Staff Regismund Volkmar von Rohr-Mauss spoke regarding the recent upcoming of the Hulstrian and Gao-Soto Armed Forces. Colonel-General Rohr-Mauss stated that many of the news reports showed the Hulstrian forces were "developing" military equipment that already existed. Items such as the "Cheetah" Main Battle Tank that is widely known as the Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank. The Chief of Staff, who operates as both the de facto leader of the armed forces and the civilian head, commented on the recent news outlets. "Its confusing to see that a country like Hulstria and Gao-Soto would think they're developing pieces of equipment that they've had for several years now. Perhaps the leadership of the country needs to take a look around and realize that many of the Dundorfian states have very successful defense industries. Dorvik for instance, Ostland itself. Dundorf, even other semi-Dundorfian countries like Aloria have benefited from the collective spirit that is built from the Dundorfians." Ostland is fresh off success from a stunning, but moderate cost victory over northern neighbor Utari Mosir. Utari Mosir has, according to regional sources, experienced a moderate level of growth following the Ostlandic invasion and the efforts made by the State Commissariat "Nord-Carina".

Despite the confusion with the Ostlandic Armed Forces, the Ostlandic government has installed a new State Chancellor and a new government earlier this month. Assuming the mantle of State Chancellor is Markus von Wolfsfeld-Middenland, a former member of the Security Service and a former member of the Ministry of the Interior of Ostland. The incoming State Chancellor, despite his security background, comes from a world renown hunting family who have long served as economic advisers and "fixers" for several monarchs, including historically serving as the "Jagdmarschall" or "Hunt Marshal" of the Dundorfian Reich. The new State Chancellor, sworn in at the traditional Christmas Day swearing in at the Wolfs Palace, in Wolfsheim, has promised to continue Ostland's historic rise.

Wolfsfeld-Middenland has promised deeper economic and cultural ties with the semi-autonomous Touryou State, he has promised greater cooperation and budget to the Tosun, or the "Eastern Army" of the Touryou State. He has also promised to rejoin the Western Dovani Economic Area and promised to "...build alongside regional areas and neighbors." He has instructed the Eastern Land Council to immediately ratify the Eroncourt Agreement which allows new entry into the WDEA and has promised a more prominent role in the violent geopolitical realm of Dovani politics.

A new cabinet is expected to be announced in the coming weeks and will likely be concluded and approved by the Grand Duke and the Eastern Land Council by March, 4637.

Ostland joins the Eroncourt Convention

Wolfsheim - Minister of Economics and Finance Andreas Meitner (OHV) confirmed that the Grand Duchy of Ostland had agreed to join the Western Dovani Economic Area, or rather rejoin the WDEA. The "Eroncourt Convention" as it is commonly known, gives Ostland, one of the five leading post-colonial economies on Dovani, access to new markets and continues an already impressive growth for Ostland over a five year period. The Minister of Economics and Finance confirmed that the deal had been signed by Grand Duke Florian II and was passed over to the Eastern Land Council for approval, effectively a rubber-stamp. State Chancellor Markus von Wolfsfeld-Middenland spoke at the Eastern Land Council to a full house and stated that the deal would be good for Ostland and that it would increase trade, improve relations with its neighbors and continue to address the needs of Ostlandic citizens.

Ostland sees economic growth
Jly, 4642

Wolfsheim - Minister of Economics and Finance Andreas Meitner (OHV) and President of the State Bank of Ostland Victoria Lamarr have touted a massive increase in the Ostland GDP increasing nearly 2.7% from the previous years. Economics and Finance Minister Andreas Meitner discussed the Western Dovani Economic Area as the primary increase in Ostland's GDP and the overall increase in trade. While the WDEA has proved to be an effective building bloc for the Ostland economy the return of Dorvik as a favored trading partner has allowed for the Ostland economy to continue to grow. During the Communist Revolution in Dorvik many Dorvish officials, nobles and businesses fled to Ostland where many of them have remained. Corporations such as the Dorvish Development Bank, which recently purchased several former development banks across the globe, most of the Dorvish origin. Artanian Defense Group and other Dorvish defense manufacturers also opened businesses or branches in Ostland, leading to a boon for Ostland as Dorvik slipped away from international affairs. President of the State Bank of Ostland spoke regarding the lowering of loan interest rates and withdrawing a certain number of bills from the Ostlandic economy, a move meant to increase the value of the Ostlandic Schilling.

The Wolfsheim Stock Exchange has also greatly benefited from the listing of newer corporations. An agreement with the Jamidaka Stock Exchange formally created a joint listing with the Jamidaka Stock Exchange and the Wolfsheim Stock Exchange, to create the Ostland Stock Exchange which will have two headquarters, one in Wolfsheim and one in Jamidaka. The development of the island of Kamphon has also garnered attention. Ostland has developed the Zentrumhafen or "Central Port" which has become a massive trading city focused on the deployment of resources throughout Dovani.

Long Live the Grand Duke!
October, 4676

Wolfsheim - Grand Duke Florian II announced his formal abdication today to Crown Prince Franz after many years of speculation. In his coronation ceremony that took place in Wolfsheim, within the Wolfs Palace, the new Grand Duke, Franz, announced the new government for the Grand Duchy of Ostland. Grand Duke Franz selected his Chief of Staff and former Ostland Landwehr staff officer Kaleb Hans von und zu Zeisl as the new State Chancellor. The State Chancellor who had been prepared announced a brand new government to succeed the outgoing government of State Chancellor Markus von Wolfsfeld-Middenland. Grand Duke Franz stated that the government would be visiting northern neighbor Utari Mosir in the coming weeks, as confirmed by the new Minister of Foreign Affairs Thorsten Fahr.

In his speech to the assembled Eastern Land Council he noted that the development of the island of Kamphon would be token to his reign as Grand Duke. The island of Kamphon was a hotly contested piece of land that Ostland won in the Utari Mosir conflict nearly five decades previously. Since its inclusion into the Grand Duchy, the island has exploded into a trading hub for the Ostlandic economy. It also serves as the home for Ostöl AG, the state owned oil and gas corporation that has dominance over the Ostlandic oil and gas sources. The focus of Grand Duke Florian II and his new successor will be the continued development of Ostöl AG as a tenant of the Ostlandic economy. Since the discovery of large amounts of oil and natural gas, the Ostlandic economy's percentage of income from oil and natural gas has risen to roughly 25% or a quarter of the entire Ostlandic economy. Economic experts believe that the increase can be attributed to the continued advancements within the WDEA.

Incoming Minister of Finance and Economics Torsten von Döhl announced the creation of a permanent division of his ministry to focus on the increase in trade with the WDEA overall; this is to go hand in hand with the new position created underneath the Main Office of the State Chancellor known as the "General-Plenipotentiary to the Western Dovani Economic Area" which will be filled by veteran member of the Political Leadership Corps (VDKV) Dienstleiter Viktor Kottmann. With this, the development of "Nord-Carina Air Base" was announced as a focus of incoming Chief of the General Staff Colonel-General (Army) Hans Eckhardt von Völknitz-Siezenhaus.

Council of Ministers
  • State Chancellor - Hauptbefehlsleiter Kaleb Hans von und zu Zeisl (Political Leadership Corps, VDKV)

New Chief of the General Staff appears before Eastern Land Council
November, 4676

Wolfsheim - Chief of the General Staff Colonel-General (Army) Hans Eckhardt von Völknitz-Siezenhaus went before the Eastern Land Council's Committee on Security and Intelligence to discuss the future of the Ostland Landwehr. The first topic on the agenda was the completion of the Nord-Carina Air Base on the island of Kamphon, this is seen as a means to further project Ostlandic power across Eastern Dovani. In joint testimony with Commander-in-Chief of the Ostlandic Air Force General Tristan Hengsbach the Eastern Land Council approved the foundation and deployment of 2 new fighter wings, officially to be named Jadggeschwader 2 "Grand Duke Ludwig" and Jadggeschwader 1 "Grand Duke Wilhelm" and will increase the total amount of Unionfighters in the Ostland Air Force. The expansion of the Ostlandic Air Force will include the addition of several new support aircraft from the Artanian Defense Group, notably increased numbers of ADG AC-295 Gunships, ADG C-295 AEW&C and ADG C-295 SIGINT. The Ostland Air Force will also expand the airborne forces to include another 2 regiments, bringing the total of Fallschirmjager regiments to 3 for the Ostlandic Air Force.

In his joint testimony with Ostlandic Navy Admiral Meik Hoenigberg the development of Nord-Carina Naval Base will break ground within the next several weeks, in combination with the currently under construction Nord-Carina Air Base, it will form the Nord-Carina Joint Base and will include a barracks for 2 to 3 naval infantry regiments to serve as force protection and force projection for the Ostlandic Navy. The Ostlandic Navy, in conjunction with local defense industries and abroad will procure a number of new vessels, reported to be of Dorvish origin in a multi-billon mark deal with the Dorvish defense industry. It will provide the Ostlandic Navy a new source of vessels to further project their power and aid their current fleet. The Ostlandic Navy will also radically overhaul their current naval bases in Jamidaka, Königborn (Kronhofen Province) and the Okutsukawa (Kamisuzawa Prefecture).

Surprisingly absent was the new Commander-in-Chief of the Ostland Army, known as the Landwehr, General Norbert Bäcker who was leading a force-wide training program throughout Ostland. General Bäcker did however send his Chief of the Field Army, the operational branch of the Dorvish Landwehr, Lieutenant General Ekkehard Pankau to represent the Landwehr at the hearings. Lt. General Pankau announced that the deployment of several new divisions was to be the focus of the landwehr for the next several months and the overall procurement of modern equipment was the secondary focus. Lt. Gen. Pankau also noted that the focus overall of the landwehr would be to work on the development of Togun, the Touryou-based component of the Ostland Landwehr. The Lt. General announced that the Togun would be elevated to an "Operational Command" of the General Staff thus allowing the Chief of the General Staff direct appointment of the Chief of the Eastern Army and the Chief of Staff of the Eastern Army. The "Operational Command" status will also grant the Eastern Army a number of benefits to its soldiers, who are formally recognized as members of the wider Ostland Landwehr.
